On the occasion of the imminent introduction of new polymer currencies in the Egyptian market, the Central Bank confirmed the continuation of dealing with all paper currencies without exception.
In a statement, the Central Bank stressed that “there is absolutely no truth to what was circulated about the cancellation of dealing with some paper denominations, in conjunction with the issuance of its polymer counterpart,” noting that “the new denominations of polymer money will be secured with advanced watermarks, showing Only when moved under sunlight.
And the Central Bank revealed that, “With reference to the pictures circulated on news sites and social media sites, of the new polymer coins of the ten and twenty pound denominations, the circulated models have not been definitively approved and are still in the process of development and modification.” He explained, "As for the multiple colors found on one of the coin models in circulation, they are not part of the currency design, and do not appear on it in nature, but it is a modern watermark recognized globally as one of the latest technologies for securing printed currencies, as when moving the new currency in the sunlight Only one or two of the colors included in the watermark appear, making it very difficult to counterfeit."
