Maybe someone can educate me here...but I often wonder if part of the holdup with the RV has something to do with US troops either staying or going....of course maybe I've been listening to too much Blaino conspiracy theories!...but could be...maybe?
We have no choice but to stay. We will leave Iraq to Iran? They definitely don't need Iraq to rise up being next door to each other. I don't think its a stretch to assume that Sadr is after the power for himself Ayatolah style!
Next elections Sadr will gain more seats (iran - stuffing ballot boxes
)and could possibly be the next PM...(we can not let that ever happen...)Sadr has said over and over he will raise his medhi army and fight if we don't leave by 2011.
Politically speaking, I believe we prefer an Iraqi solution but whether its us or the iraqi's its pretty apparent what needs to be done to create the environment necessary for this country to move forward.

I just like seeing him mention monetary policy. Why that gets over looked so much on these forums is ahem...amazing....
I think for the inflation cbi will go and raise the interest rate as they have done in the past.

This is interesting for sure and in my opinion, this is the hold up for everything and if you were to RV before this issue with Mr Sadr is resolved....well now you just made his money worth a lot and he can re-arm / supply his mehdi army....

I was looking for a discussion about this because I'm questioning this hard but with Adam in VIP, I'm sure he would do whatever he could for us IF this was a true issue.
Who knows? Maybe he'll address this later.

There are no such laws in Europe .... send it to me, I'll cash it in and wire it back to you as a gift, when the RV does happen hopefully I'll have more money than I'll ever need anyway.
I was just using the travel scenario to europe as an example. My point is that I question how this would pertain to us as it doesn't make much sense to me. This gets down into basic services of currency exchange.

Well there was no RV from 6/13/11-6/199/11. I wish I was wrong, but knew I would be right. This week I spoke with two buddies of mine that are retired military working in the private sector, I also spoke with two different Iraqi families I formed relationships with when stationed in Iraq.
Let me first dispel some ridiculous rumors I am sure you have all heard.
1. The GOI is not complete, and they were not announced in the Iraqi newspapers
2. Iraq has not been cleared of all sanctions
3. Lower denoms have not been released
4. No internal RV has happened in Iraq
5. The theory that the minister will be named the sanctions will be lifted and the RV will be announced all at the same time is ridiculous. It just cannot happen that way. There are steps that need to take place to get this RV done
I do believe that the dinar will RV, but do not believe anyone on these sites will know when it will happen. If t6hey are right it will only be because someone has to get it right eventually. Unfortunately that also includes me. I will not be able to tell you a date or rate of RV, but what I can guarantee you is that it will not RV this week. NO RV 6/20/11-6/26/11.

Okay i was half asleep when i saw all this stuff last night about this law that phoenix pointed out...uhm july 15 we won't be able to exchange our dinars?
I believe some of the verbage he quoted has been around for a while
1) A natural person whose individual net worth, or joint net worth with spouse, is at least $1,000,000, excluding the value of such investor's primary residence;
2) A natural person who had individual income in excess of $200,000 in each of the two most recent years or joint income with spouse in excess of $300,000 in each of those years and a reasonable expectation of reaching the same income level in the current year;
and then when you actually search the term accredited investor you get pretty much the same thing at wiki...

As for the foreign currency....hmmm....
So how would that work if you came back from Europe and you happen to have a few hundred dollars worth of euros on you and you didnt exchange it before you arrived in the states? We're not able to exchange that now? See it doesn't specifically say "THE IRAQI DINAR" it just says foreign currency. It seems the implementation or the interpretation of this is kind of weird to me. I see what it says but my point is whatever rule they make up would apply to all foreign currency. How does that affect simple money exchange retail outlets? Some of you purchased your currency over the counter from a bank or a money exchange. Perhaps they are talking about a foreign currency over a certain amount? All Phoenix said was a "large" amount where does it say that specifically in the law? I would think they would have to specify an amount? and so far I haven't read anything about that...I can keep looking....
Like so many things in this investment there is how we as dinar investors view the world and how we expect the world to work and then... there is uhmmm.... reality?

So there is what we hope or in this case what we FEAR and then there is how the world works which sometimes is not so predictable....
I'm not necessarily saying I disagree with Phoenix on this because I'm open to hear what him or anyone who believes that after July 15 if we are not a QEP we can not cash in has to say.
I've always liked phoenix but I never agreed with everything he has had to share and I think that's okay. But I believe more clarification is needed in how they will implement this if it indeed pertains to us. Its not so clear to me.
Oh and how would this affect people who have invested with banks like warka or bank of baghdad. your account of course is electronic not physical currency. The US government is just going to have your account zero'd out?
Personally I think there's way to much doom and gloom going on now on these boards and its so much more worse than me spouting off why I don't think it will RV anytime soon....

YAH and An RV cannot occur with the current monetary policy of the central bank of iraq which is islamic banking or also known as full reserve banking..
They back their currency 100% with assets (foreign reserves ie other currencies metals...)
Iraqs money supply is like uhhm... a 1000% away from their reserves...billions backing trillions....oh and its like 1168 dinars to 1 dollar wow that makes so much sense! /end sarcasm....

i know someone from iraq that told me they never planed to raise the value of the iqd. but have to because of the imf .
they will keep selling and only give a 10% return on all high notes for the next two years and that will be it for all 1k 5k 10k and 25k notes
sorry. if you check the lower not are selling for a lot more money then the junk notes 1k 5k 10k 25k ? but cbi is at 1170 ?
july 1st will tell all. if your buying buy the lower notes or open a account in iraq that what i did.

250,000,000 IS A LITTLE LESS THAN 10 TIMES THE DINAR I CURRENTLY HOLD IN MY SAFE DEPOSIT BOX.
SOMEONE COULD EASILY PUT THAT MUCH DINAR IN A GARBAGE BAG SO WHY BLOW UP A TRUCK TO DESTROY IT. JUST STOP THE TRUCK AND TAKE IT FROM THEM.

I dont mess with dinar dealers. There was one I bought from a long time ago. I choose not to mention them because I'm not trying to advertise for them.
Banks (iraqi or american) are the only way to go.
As pointed out nicely above in this thread, those dealers have all these pumpers to thank for that increase in markup...

The RV will go through with or without US intervention. The UN, IMF, WTO all approved & proclaim Iraq met all it's obligations.
What is going on right now is how the Feds will get it's hands on our RV investments & how much the Feds will allow us to keep for ourselves. Our Congressman was calling a special windfall profit tax up to 90% for private investors. Corporations, institutions & elected officials of course, will exempt themselves from such a windfall profit tax bill if it should ever goes through. Right now the windfall profit tax is at 15%.
If such a bill is passed, your taxes will be taken out at the bank along with exchange fees just like lotto, sweepstakes or Las Vegas winnings of over $500. It will be treated more like an inheritance tax than a windfall profit tax. This allows the Feds to take a larger chunks for themselves & throw us a few crumbs.
The real winners will be the thousands of lawyers that will come out of the woodwork like in the tobacco lawsuit. That made $Billionaires into many lawyers overnight. This is all about keeping Americans down & not allowed to prosper. Prosperity, Capitalism, Patriotism, Middle Class have all become dirty words under this Income Redistribution Administration.

Here's the thing, folks: I meant every word during my post, down to the letters themselves. And I still do. Call me disrespectful, arrogant, pompous, whatever. Sticks and stones as far as I'm concerned.
I still, for the life of me, don't see what the big deal is. What I find are overly-emotional responses to an otherwise well-intentioned inquiry. Let me ask you this: just how many of you took the time to listen to that portion of the Conference Call AFTER hearing Scooter's initial explanation? To me, it just doesn't add up and it troubles me to see him making a concession speech (which is precisely what he did) with the amount of time it could've taken him to address my initial question by contacting Rudy and getting to the bottom of this--not only for me, people--but for EVERYONE! Scooter shouldn't have needed to read it from Adam - he wrote of CREDIBILITY and TIME as if they are equals, yet as Scooter clearly showed us yesterday, it appears CREDIBILITY > TIME after all.
I enjoyed his analyses and commentary. I really did. But it's hard to enjoy a five-star meal surrounded by flies, you feel me? None of this should have happened and you folks don't have to believe a single word I say. Just let me make myself pointedly clear: I am not satisfied with his CHOICE to walk away. Doing so only makes him all the more guilty in my eyes of a corroboration previously unknown to many of us, as it was veiled behind fantastic data analysis and a golden-boy persona.

One of the things I decided long ago when I joined up at DV was that I Wouldn't attack Adam or Sonny and over time I felt that way about Scooter of course? Why not?
1. I like what everyone had to share, there were things I Could question but it wasn't obviously wrong like other gurus from other sites
2. I like the members here, a lot of good people that share good thoughts
3. People in leadership positions like ADam and sonny (i know he's gone), scooter are needed to help keep it together - overall wellness for the community. Im sure its not easy...i recognize that.

Sometimes even if you are right, its better to leave well enough alone. I could shoot holes through things if I wanted to all the time but what good will that bring in my life? I'm surrounded everywhere by b.s. but bitching about it and making a stink about it doesn't necessarily bring about good change for me. Look, I've been noticing Scooter doing stuff at DD or other sites - I don't care for DD man...I really don't but so what if he's over there? I'm not worried cuzz I make up my own damn mind for myself anyway and if things get a little weird, I can break away at anytime...
