  1. Exactly ReVbo, whats up with all the thank you posts from people like rdpncampos?

Well, there's just three of them. We've tried everything to get them to stop, but they don't read posts longer than it takes to say "Thank you." so the message is not getting through that it's wasteful of other people's time and annoying. Someone even tried a thread about it a few weeks ago, but they seem to have not gotten it. Some think they're doing it to up their post count, as if that means anything. Then again, Sandlfy has way more pluses than I do (not that that really means anything), and he's never contributed hardly anything to the site, so maybe we're the chumps.

  2. Just did a quick little research on Wasik, and I'm surpised Forbes would even publish his stuff. He literally wrote the book on Keynesian investments, so he probably thinks the best way to make money as an investor, these days, is to ride the stock market up because the Fed is doing everything it can to prop up the DOW and S&P. He thinks global warming is going to be a $4 trillion industry because man is destroying the world.

Besides all that, he's got his facts wrong in this piece. He says Kurdistan is on the verge of separation. The election of Masoum, a Talabani ally, is a direct signal that the Kurds aren't going anywhere any time soon. If Maliki gets re-elected, that may change, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen, and the Kurds have said they support anyone but Maliki. Sure, ISIS is in control in a few parts, but they are very small in number, and their success, so far, is solely attritutable to the local population's hatred of Maliki, and will dissipate as soon as Maliki goes.

If Maliki stays, I would say this guy is right, and wouldn't have argued with him two months ago, but he's using old information to argue that Iraq is about to collapse.

Oh, and remember all those articles about the dinar being undervalued, as stated by various Iraqi economists? Yeah, that, too.

  3. Why else would they go on a thanking rampage.

They dont even have enough time to read any of the artivcles.

So that only leaves me to think that they're only trying to rack up posting points. For their ego. I guess thats their prize "their ego".

Yeah, I was just joking. I guess they just like to see their avatars, and that's a good point. I often see 15 thank you's posted, by the same guy, within 5 minutes of each other, and I find myself wondering, "Do you even read these articles, or are you just looking to show everyone how thankful you are?"

  4. I don't think I have ever seen this much movement since I've been involved in this speculation. Iraq is not falling apart AND getting things done during Ramadan. Things are moving.

I don't know why someone would beg our Sandfly, I could only plus him one, someone us him again please

    Mods meant to say neg

Gee and meant to say plus, using my phone hahaha

I can tell you why. I have never personally negged Sandfly, or any of the thankers, because I only hit someone with red if I feel they are being abusive, but I probably have the same thoughts as those who would neg Sandfly. His "Thanks" posts are frivolous, time wasting, and often confusing, especially the ones where he has missed a day of "Thank you"s and starts bumping threads from the day before, bringing outdated threads up to the top and making a lot of folks think those old posts are current. Also, we now have two other thankers who are doing the same thing, and when a thread gets bumped to the top, a lot of folks click on it, thinking there's going to be some interesting commentary, only to see three thank you's. I understand that people want to show their appreciation, but, and I know Yota will back me up on this because he did this morning, Yota doesn't need to be thanked, by the same person, for every article he brings. He knows he is appreciated.

By the way, thanks, everyone who searches for articles. I really appreciate all your hard work.

  5. Where's Kinematik with some explanation of why the Kurds don't have a consensus nominee yet?  The kurds always have the s**t together, right?  This has Talibani meddling written all over it.

Also, why cant Jabouri just let both names be brought to Parliament for a vote?  Why just a single nominee?

I think it's because, if both are allowed to run, they run the risk of splitting the Kurdish vote, and somebody other than a Kurd gets in as President. Agreed on the Talabani point.

  6. This is just State of Law idiots doing everything they can to keep their man, Maliki, in office for a few more days. Jabouri held a press conference today, and he says the vote goes on tomorrow, and it will be a secret ballot.

Per Reidar Visser tweet just about an hour ago -

On press conference right now, newly elected #Iraq parliament speaker Jibburi indicates he wants to go ahead with election of president Wed.

  7. Revbo,

actually....your catch 22 makes a lot of sense.... :bravo:

It makes sense, but if Maliki doesn't have to first be sworn in as an MP, does he ever lose immunity? I think Enorrste is right, and I just missed it yesterday. I thought the Prime Minister has to first be a Member of Parliament, but I'm pretty sure Maliki is not an MP, and I don't believe the PM necessarily has to be an MP first. He's the leader of the Dawa Islamic Party, just like Hakim is the leader of ISCI, and Allawi is the leader of Iraqiya (or whatever he's calling it these days), although not MPs, themselves. I don't know if he has to formally resign before being sworn in again, if he manages to pull off a third term, but I don't believe he does.
