This Shabibi sentencing thing has been bugging me, and I wanted to see if there was still a possibility for him to come back, and sure enough, there is. Turns out, according to the Iraqi constitution, the President can issue pardons at the request of the Prime Minister, so Maliki getting Mahmoud to convict Shabibi and sentence him, in absentia, can be undone and Shabibi could still, theoretically, come back. It seems like it's actually a good thing that he got convicted because you can't pardon someone who hasn't been convicted yet.

Simple solution. Lower corporate taxes and watch mega corps from around the world flood into America. It's shameful that Canada has lower taxes than we do, and Burger King's first responsibility is to its owners, not the American government or the tax eaters our taxes pay for. Their board of directors would be derelict as managers if they didn't leave. Lower taxes would benefit mom and pop, too. I'm actually okay with combining ministries, TBomb. I would be concerned if, say, they were going to merge Interior and Defense, but they're not combining the really important ministries, just doing away with overlapping regulators, and I think that's a great thing that we could use more of around here. They don't need a minister of electricity and a minister of oil, and giving both to one guy, in my opinion, will eliminate waste, save money, and get some government off of some businesses' backs.

They're a tricky site. Everything sounds good, and it's well written, but it's propaganda. Don't sweat it. There are so many sources, it's hard to keep them straight, but I noticed a pattern from Chakooch last year, and it hasn't failed me yet.

Not me, man. I just came in to set the record straight on the articles that said the court had ruled in Maliki's favor. I wasn't looking for an argument. As of today, the court has basically decided to punt and wait and see if it works itself out, which it mostly likely will since Maliki has zero support left. There's even an article that says Maliki is about to drop his complaint. We'll see how that works out, but I'm not looking for a fight.

Maliki is too far gone at this point. It's just one day, and the way the play around with their holidays, they can easily go with Masoum's argument that Eid was actually three days and not two, and say the real deadline was Monday. Maliki's constitutional lawyer, Harb, had already said abadi's appointment was legal, and for the court to disagree now, they would be taking on Sistani, Harb, every Sunni, every Kurd, and as of about two hours ago, even Maliki's own Dawa Party.

I didn't see that, but if he filed it Sunday, that's what he's talking about today. He wants the results of the decision on that case before he will leave. The articles posted in this thread all reference the previous "largest bloc" issue that was resolved when the court refused to issue a new ruling and fell back to its ruling from 2010.

The court did not rule that State Law was the largest bloc, as these articles suggest, or Abadi would not be the nominee, and Maliki is threatening to file a new lawsuit based on your argument that Masoum filed a day late. Two different cases, one of which has been turned down by the court, and the other of which has yet to be filed. Incidentally, Maliki lost his argument on the largest bloc because he made the same argument, in 2010, that his adversaries in the National Alliance made a month ago, and Maliki won in 2010, so the court would be overturning precedent if it ruled in SoL's favor now, so the court fell back on its ruling from 2010 that National Alliance is the largest bloc. This argument about Masoum being a day late is laughable, considering Maliki took 10 months to be nominated in 2010.
