  1. This idea of "Free Hugs" challenge came while I watched Moose57's thread on "Hugs for everyone" :) They did it in Italy (Umbertino confirmed it :) ) so I thought why not do it in our town and we can always spread some love and hugs as everyone needs love and a hug... I experience it that sometimes I just need a hug more than anything :)

From what I gather of watching the youtube... the first minute or so, people were skeptical and just went by and pretended they didn't see the sign but after a few minutes and when the first person came to get a hug... and the rest of the story, you can watch it on Moose57's thread. :)

If we say we love, will we be able to express the love we have in our heart to give a hug to a stranger in the street ? it won't matter whether it's a man in a black suit :) or a homeless in the street... will we ?

So, I pick a date to do it which is this coming SATURDAY, MAY 5th, 2012 and you pick the time you want to do it in increments of two hours and see how many people gets a hug from you. I will do it in the afternoon about 1 - 3 pm.

We can come back to this thread on Saturday and tell our experience... I tell ya... you will feel so exuberant doing this, it will challenge us to be out of the box :)

I am excited about this...and by the way, take pics :) a few of us already signed up...anyone else..??????

  2. We all know that RP is our best choice so if you want to point fingers, you can go look in the mirror because you or anyone else that does not vote for Ron Paul is part of the problem. It is the voters fault that did not vote RP not the voters that voted RP. You have grossly misrepresented the truth.

not pointing fingers but you appear to be. vote for who you like. when obama is president for another 4 years, enjoy it

seems to me you are just trying to cause trouble from reading your posts and looking at your warn status.

makes no sense that someone would vote for an un electable candidate just to prove a point , but the choice is yours, for now

  3. he is not electable, unfortunately and here is what will happen, just like '92

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_1992

note the insignificant little man to the far right that took 19% of the vote from Bush SR

vote for ron paul, feel good about your vote, then buckle up for 4 years of things that you have never seen before, or thought could happen. Strap in tight.

The truth spoken and or written is now a whine? Let me look that one up in the dictionary, there it is truth is defined as a whine. Yep, is society writing a new dictionary for the new world order, because we are heading there very quickly. There are alot of reversals going on. Good is bad, left is right, truth is false, black is white, you know....

I agree, but we are stuck in a pitiful 2 party system. Our choices have come down to the lesser of 2 evils. Sad, but true.

LOL talk about gullible ? Look 40 if RP gets the nomination I'll vote for him but it won't be because some of his followers call anyone who doesn't agree with them stupid and uninformed. It will be because right now that would be my only choice except not to vote. And not to vote just because he's not my first choice is a slap in the face to my children and grand children. Ease up!

Good point. Hope to see you soon in Central America biggrin.gif

  4. Well dave he does have a chance, instead of voting for a republican just because he is a republican, try voting for Ron Paul no matter what. Now that would send the message about the two party system. People know the system is broken, and still chose and say well i will vote for Ron Paul if he is the nominee. I just dont get it, does brainwashing run that deep?

    http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/national.php?year=1992

history will repeat and obama will be elected and those that voted for RP can wallow in the fact that they voted for their man and helped obama to another 4 years of misery

  5. Uh Ohhh....The dumb people are getting offended......

    Yeah uh oh laugh.gif

Anyone remember after obama got elected, the woman that said she was so happy that she did not have to worry about her house or car payment anymore? obama was gonna take care of that. we are stuck in a stupid 2 party system where only idiots with R or D funding can get elected. Ron Paul has no chance, unfortunately.

You need a licence to drive, to hunt, to sell real estate, but any idiot can vote or procreate. cool.gif

  6. @Caye, excellent post, something to think about.....@DaveH, I have a doc appt on the 16th and am gonna ask about the Chantix, is it covered by insurance do you know and can you take it with other meds?

Was not covered by my insurance, I was floored. Trying to do something to improve my health and they did not cover. Guess it depends on your insurance carrier.

I got it anyway, it worked and I feel better.

  7. I have wanted to quit for a few months and have tried unsuccessfully twice in 3 years. I finally made the decision that tomorrow is the 3rd attempt and the last. Sunday was supposed to be my day but spent the weekend with my best friend and her husband who are are evil creatures that thwarted my plan

So, a big thanks to Mack and Moose for the inspirational push ...hoping tomorrow goes smooth

I quit with the help of Chantix, doctor prescribed, gave me some really strange dreams, but I am smoke free even though a lot of people smoke around me every day. Good luck Tiff. biggrin.gif

  8. sorry smee, but if you dont like the political posts, just like any other thing, dont read them, that is a choice we all have, to change the channel so to speak. One thing I as an American really dislike, is someone from another country telling me how I should feel or behave, what I should do.

Quit the crying cuz we are still free to speak our mind. And most of us that do the complaining, do the voting as well.

So if you dont like what we have to say, we just might remember that, the next time you are getting your arse kicked by some terrorist state or scumbag orginization. Maybe next time we will keep to ourselves and let the arse kickings proceed.

    Cheers!

  10. I would like to share an experience with you, about drinking and driving.

As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from different social situations over the years.

A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks with some friends, and had a few too many.

Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before: I took a bus home.

Sure enough I passed a police road block but as it was a bus, they waved it past.

I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise as I have never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got it.

  11. GARDEN SNAKES CAN BE DANGEROUS...

Snakes also known as Garter Snakes (Thamnophissirtalis) can be dangerous Yes, grass snakes, not rattlesnakes. Here's why.

A couple in Sweetwater , Texas , had a lot of potted plants. During a recent cold spell, the wife was bringing a lot of them indoors to protect them from a possible freeze.

It turned out that a little green garden grass snake was hidden in one of the plants. When it had warmed up, it slithered out and the wife saw it go under the sofa.

She let out a very loud scream.

The husband (who was taking a shower) ran out into the living room naked to see what the problem was. She told him there was a snake under the sofa.

He got down on the floor on his hands and knees to look for it. About that time the family dog came and cold-nosed him on the behind. He thought the snake had bitten him, so he screamed and fell over on the floor.

His wife thought he had had a heart attack, so she covered him up, told him to lie still and called an ambulance.

The attendants rushed in, would not listen to his protests, loaded him on the stretcher, and started carrying him out.

About that time, the snake came out from under the sofa and the Emergency Medical Technician saw it and dropped his end of the stretcher. That's when the man broke his leg and why he is still in the hospital.

The wife still had the problem of the snake in the house, so she called on a neighbor who volunteered to capture the snake. He armed himself with a rolled-up newspaper and began poking under the couch.. Soon he decided it was gone and told the woman, who sat down on the sofa in relief.

But while relaxing, her hand dangled in between the cushions, where she felt the snake wriggling around. She screamed and fainted, the snake rushed back under the sofa.

The neighbor man, seeing her lying there passed out, tried to use CPR to revive her.

The neighbor's wife, who had just returned from shopping at the grocery store, saw her husband's mouth on the woman's mouth and slammed her husband in the back of the head with a bag of canned goods, knocking him out and cutting his scalp to a point where it needed stitches.

The noise woke the woman from her dead faint and she saw her neighbor lying on the floor with his wife bending over him, so she assumed that the snake had bitten him. She went to the kitchen and got a small bottle of whiskey, and began pouring it down the man's throat.

By now, the police had arrived.

    Breathe here...

They saw the unconscious man, smelled the whiskey, and assumed that a drunken fight had occurred. They were about to arrest them all, when the women tried to explain how it all happened over a little garden snake!

The police called an ambulance, which took away the neighbor and his sobbing wife.

Now, the little snake again crawled out from under the sofa and one of the policemen drew his gun and fired at it. He missed the snake and hit the leg of the end table. The table fell over, the lamp on it shattered and, as the bulb broke, it started a fire in the drapes.

The other policeman tried to beat out the flames, and fell through the window into the yard on top of the family dog who, startled, jumped out and raced into the street, where an oncoming car swerved to avoid it and smashed into the parked police car.

Meanwhile, neighbors saw the burning drapes and called in the fire department. The firemen had started raising the fire ladder when they were halfway down the street. The rising ladder tore out the overhead wires, put out the power, and disconnected the telephones in a ten-square city block area (but they did get the house fire out).

Time passed! Both men were discharged from the hospital, the house was repaired, the dog came home, the police acquired a new car and all was right with their world.

A while later they were watching TV and the weatherman announced a cold snap for that night. The wife asked her husband if he thought they should bring in their plants for the night.

And that's when he shot her.
