For those just dabbling in this, understand that Cryptopia is not a simple site like Coinbase. There are numerous posts about transfers from Coinbase (sending coin to Cryptopia to buy coins listed on their site) not showing up there for hours, days. I opened my account 6 hours ago, sent $50 USD value in Ethereum to Cryptopia and it still hasn't shown up. Their site FAQ is loaded with people having the same problem. Take your time. If there are more user friendly sites out there, maybe you could share. We're all learning here. Thanks.

Exactly right - Cryptopia deals with a lot more Cryptos than coinbase, so the traffic can be just crazy at times. With Electroneum going live and this being the only exchange currently trading it, the volume is even worse.  They had 4 times more electronic transactions  in Electroneum yesterday than Monero has ever had - and it's been around for a few years.

I transferred some Ether to it last week, before this craziness, and it took about 45 minutes. Because all these moves are tracked by the blockchain, it takes a little longer than electronic fiat currency moves. Transferring the Electroneum I bought back to my wallet took about 2 hours yesterday.

  2. My stepdaughter and wife are from Minnesota. When they moved here, the stepdaughter was in the 5th grade. I remember when we had about 4 inches of snow overnight one time and my stepdaughter asked "Do you think we'll get a snow day?" I told her I was sorry, but I had never seen a snow day.  In the next 9  years of school (she graduated in 2015) - she had exactly 1 snow day. A Couple of late starts - but only 1 true snow day - and yeah - I had to go to work...

Thanks DT for bringing that over! :twothumbs:

Who can afford it? Anyone. It's free to set up a wallet. You can buy $5 worth of crypto if that's all you can spare.

Anyone that doesn't have $5 to spare needs to re-evaluate their priorities, go collect cans on the street, or something.

    :twocents:

I think so many believe you have to buy a whole coin because we are so used to handling hard currency.  Most crypto coins/tokens can be broken into much small segments.

Just for some information - the Bitcoin can be broken down to 8 decimal points - or 1/1billionth - called a "satoshi".

At Bitcoins current price - about $12,900 as of this posting - so $5.00 will get you about 39,000 satoshi.  $100 will get you about 780,000 satoshi or about 7/1,000th of a Bitcoin (BTC)

There are also much cheaper coins that are still giving a good return. I myself started with spending $103.00 to get about 1/2 of an Etherium coin about 2 months ago. So far I've been able to take the growth profits from that and move to a few others. Just as an example (remember your actual mileage may vary - and this is NOT investment advice)  my current ROI is at about 600% - not a typo!  I took some advice on an ICO that was being discussed in the VIP section - and glad I did.  Small investments can work too!

My wife has had Fibromyalgia for years now.  It was weird but one day out of no where she had intense pains.  She has had every test known and no doctor could explain. They prescribed pain meds and she walked around like a zombie for what seemed like a long time. Had her try some HIGH CBD marijuana and it actually worked to stop the pain. She weaned off the pain meds completely and just used a vaporizer to use the weed. Pain was manageable for years  She researched for a long time and heard about low dose naltrexone  LDN.  It is intended for auto immune disorders and cancer patients but has many other new found effects.  She talked her doctor into letting her try it out and IT WORKED!!!!! Now she is off the weed completely and her pain levels are almost gone completely.

May not work for everyone but this drug has given my wife her life back. If you have Fibromyalgia and live in constant pain then you should research this med and see if its for you.

Did a little more digging - and it appears that the mechanism of action for LDN is raising the endorphin levels in the body -

    http://www.toxipedia.org/download/attachments/17044484/Report %2319 - Low Dose Naltrexone.pdf?version=1&modificationDate=1388194233000&api=v2

"it has been shown that elevated levels of endorphins, due to the administration of LDN is responsible for:
     Down regulating inflammatory cytokines
 Reducing inflammation and oxidative stress
 Facilitating tissue repair and wound healing
     Restoring T-helper/CD4 levels
     Restoring the balance between Th1 & Th2 lymphocytes
 Increasing cytotoxic T cells and natural killer (NK) cells
 Regulating cell growth & inhibiting tumor growth
 Reducing excitotoxicity and microglial activation
 Reducing apoptosis of the myelin-producing oligodendrocytes
 Stimulating mucosal healing (lining of bowel)"

In other words - helping to eliminate the oxidative stress in the cells and the resulting mitochondrial damage.  If you coupled this with other products that raised glutathione leves and reduced the oxidative stress on the cellular level, I'm guessing you could see some marked results

  5. I'm with you  - stolen valor pisses me off too. It also pisses me of when ANY national news service doesn't vet information - especially something they are fairly certin that will "go viral".

In my opinion    it's sad that a person can claim to be part of our Military - "wear"  (I use the term loosely) the uniform in public - make these type of claims - and the Supreme Court has declared it as protected under the Constitution - up to a point at least.

Once they try to use it for personal gain - and if they are claiming 1 of 11 awards - then it becomes a federal crime, punishable by a fine, imprisonment for not more than one year, or both.

So - as a for instance - a "wannabe" is wearing the uniform, has a Combat Infantry Badge displayed on it - that is all legally fine - no matter how poorly he is wearing the uniform, how much he tries to tell  you he was a Green Beret - even though he can't tell you what his MOS is or what the criteria is for having a Combat Infantry Badge  - or how it differs from the Expert Infantry Badge (which looks nearly identical).  However, if he then asks for a "Military Discount"  at a fast good restaurant - that just became a federal offense.  Does that really make sense?
