  1. I am interested in setting up a joint account with Warka Bank. I have already an iundividual Warka Bank account. I do not know the laws of Iraq and could not read the Arabic writing on the Warka Bank application. In case something should happen to me, I would want another person designate as the other account holder ("survivor") to have full access to the funds. The issue I am concerned about regarding my personal account is that it is well funded and it could be a tough operation for any person I designate to obtain funds from my individual account after my death. The probate is complicated enough in the US. I also have friends / professional contacts who want me to be a Power of Attorney / Joint Holder for them with a Warka Bank account (as their personal fail-safe) so that when they die they could count on me to make sure (as the joint account holder) that their family members are taken care of according to the wishes they have expressed to me, and not have their account be entangled in probate. Does anyone have knowledge of whether Warka Bank permits joint accounts (with rights of survivorship)? I have been told that Warka Bank allows one to add a name to the account later but I am not sure if this has the same legal force regarding survivorship as would opening an account jointly. Obviously joint accounts are common in the western world and I am familiar with doing it in Europe, but banking in Iraq is a new venture for me. If Warka Bank permits joint accounts I imagine a simple modification of the application would suffice? Before I attempted that I wanted to bounce the idea off someone who has experience or knowedge with this subject matter. Thanks, Hank
  2. My brother in law sent me an email from David http://iqd.me/l/11 with US DinarBank stating that only dinar held within Iraq or commercial accounts within Iraq will undergo an RV. Anyone have any intel on US DinarBank and/or David http://iqd.me/l/11? I don't think what he is saying is correct. I don't know anything about this outfit. Thanks in advance for any information. RHH
  3. Thanks to all who gave me information on setting up a Warka account. It is done - and funded. Now I would like to set up a joint account with my son. Has anyone had experience setting up a joint account - and how did you do it. Does Warka recognize joint accounts with rights of survivorship? My son is a minor -- 16 years old. Does that make a difference?
  4. Brent - thanks for the reply. My email is xxxxxxxxxxxxx@gmail.com Also - if I send the completed form back to Warka as a PDF -- can they open it on their end? Thanks again - ML
  5. I am trying to wire the funds, but the bank wiring the funds insists on a physical address for the Citibank in New York. Also - the recipients address. We have made several calls trying to get that information to no avail. Anyone have that address? Also - would the recipients address be Warka in Baghdad?
  6. I am ready to wire the funds to Warka. I noticed in the email the account numbers are separated by a forward slash instead of a hyphen. For those of you who have already wired funds - did you wire to the account exactly as instructed (with the slash instead of the hyphen.) Or does it matter. Thanks again for any info. RHH
  7. Ladies and Gentlemen - Thank you for the input. Nothing like getting down to the wire (so to speak). Hopefully we will see some action this week. You all have made this process a little less painful.
  8. Thanks for the info. Don't mean to sound stupid - but I am assuming the $$ going into the IQD account are automatically reverted to dinar without any further explanation or instruction on my part? RHH
  9. Thanks for the responses to my earlier question. Got an email from Warka - my account is opened. I know I need to wire the funds to the affiliated CitiBank - but do I send two wires - one for the USD account and one for the IQD account? Or - do I just send one wire for the USD and email Warka that I want a certain amount transfered to my IQD account. I read Adams book, but I don't see this information in there. Maybe I am missing something. Thanks for any intel.
  10. I tried to open a Warka account late Wednesday night (EST) through the email process. It was midnight (8am in Iraq) I received an immediate email from Mohammad K. Issa stating he was out of the office and to contact the appropriate department via their website. Is this a standard email response for after-hours emails? Is there another department that I should be contacting? Any suggestions? I know I can't do anything now until Sunday, but I would like the information before I actually try again. Thanks for any help you can give me.
