  1. Personally I don't believe in RV's making anyone rich overnight, I believe the currency will steadily gain value over a relatively short period of time though say 1-3 years once it takes off and really starts rising.

That said I see a lot of people on here talking about where they will cash in and there seems to be an assumption banks will be falling all over themselves to buy our dinars. I don't believe this to be the case.

Have you ever had to deal with a normal bank for foriegn currency?Ever had to get a wire or draft to pay a hospital bill in another country, pay a speeding ticket in another country, send money to immigration or anything like that? It's amazing how difficult it is and how ill equipped us banks are at dealing with this.

Even when us customers buy foreign currency for vacations few banks do it anymore, those that do usually only deal with a handful of currencies and they offer pretty good exchange rates but don't really make money on the transactions its more a courtesty to their customers.

That said I don't see banks falling all over themselves to cash in our dinar, especially when they aren't going to be reselling it and are most likely going to have to sell it off themselves.

I mentioned a story in another thread a few minutes ago, my aunts bf is a petro chemical engineer brought back a few hundred thousand euros in cash, went to about a dozen banks and nobody could cash in for him. Finally wound up having to go to a broker/currency exchange and paid something like 4% or 4.5% to cash in and this is for the euro which is a relatively easy currency for a bank or currency exchange to turn around and resell far from the iraqi dinar.

I'm sure tons of businesses will pop up who will offer to cash your dinar in for you for a hefty chunk of change but I dont see banks very eager to do it.

  2. I spoke with the branch manager at the Wells Fargo bank in Garland, Texas over the summer. She told me the same thing without hesitation. She said Wells Fargo will not be dealing with IQD. It seems to me that Wells Fargo would change their position once the RV occurs as there is money to be made from the spread, the float of our accounts, etc.

I could care less about doing business with Wells Fargo. There are plenty of other banks that will cash us in.

    Happy Sunday everyone!

Not necessarily it's very wierd how ill equipped or lacking interest us banks seem to have in dealing with foreign currency. My aunts boyfriend was some kind of oil engineer in the middle east and dubai. He brought home something like 325k euros in cash back with him. He was running all over town looking for a bank to cash it in.

You would think banks would be falling all over themselves for money like that but nobody was interested. He wound up having to go to a foreign currency exchange / broker and wound up paying something like 4% or 4.5% and this is for Euro which is one if not the most popular and easily exchanged currencies far from being the iraqi dinar.

I personally dont believe in overnight rv's that are going to make people rich so a more likely scenario in my mind is just that the currency gains in value rather quickly over a few years but its not going to be millions of dollars for each person cashing in so even less incentive for the bank to deal with such a currency. i do however think specialty services and businesses will pop up to buy in and convert

  3. I'm not really concerned with whether they are counterfeit. I'm more concerned about smuggled or non registered currency that might later cause possible problems on cash in.

I would guess money is money and no banks will care but you never know.

I was just curious you hear a lot of people really worried and personally I wouldn't think it would be that much of a problem as it just doesn't seem like a wise business decision for someone to do when there are easier currencies to copy that are worth 1000x more than the dinar.

Probably a newbie question here but when you say smuggled or non registered currency what do you mean? If a cashin time happens is there some master list where your notes serial numbers have to be on it in order to be able to cash them in or something like that?

  4. Nothing like making up false information and putting it online. Maybe you should go into the pumper business. just make up whatever comes to mind.

Maybe you should know what your talking about before you post...

  5. I was just curious why everyone is so concerned about counterfit Dinar?

Obviously one should always research who they buy from and check security features upon receiving it just to verifty but if I remember correctly I heard Dinar is in like the top 3 most secure currencies in the world. It's also one of the weaker currencies in the world as well. It just doesn't seem like it's a wise decision to pick one of the hardest ones to counterfit which is going to ggive you one of the smallest returns. Wouldn't people be more likely to copy some wierd currency like Peruvian money or something like only 2:1 against the dollar and no security features.

It just doesn't make sense that this would be a popular activity so confused as to why everyone is so vigilant about where they buy their dinars?

The only thing I can think of is high up corruption in the government where people are actually using the governments printing presses that make real ones to make fake ones otherwise it just doesn't seem to make sense people would make fake dinar.

    Any thoughts?

  7. http://www.getiraqidinar.com/index.php/

It's easy to buy over the internet....

Place your order at the above web site, set up your account and place your order, take cash and buy money orders (I get mine for 79 cents at grocery store), photocopy the money order, write order number on the copy and email them a photo or FAX it to them. They send new dinar after they process your order. Extremely easy!!!

I had found this site a while back when I was looking to buy, not that it matters one way or the other but if I'm not mistaken getiraqidinar.com and gotiraqidinar.com are both the same company as gid and associates if I remmeber correctly.

Not to hijack the thread but on a side not are these sites selling at ridiculously low prices too good to be true. Theres some site investindinar selling for like $930, I was about to buy and happenned to do a quick google search of reviews b/c something told me if its too good to be true it probably is, anyhow the guy had a bunch of complaints on some wisconson complaint bored saying he took money but never sent or took 3 months to send the dinar, etc.

  8. For all of the Christians on DV........... how about we join in unison and all pray on a designated day and time? You know prayer in unison can be mightly powerful. Our prayer would not be for the RV, but for proetection and guidance on each of our lives and our famililes lives no matter what may happen here. Protection for America and the other countries of the world to live in Peace. And protection for the citizens of Iraq who have worked to make a new life for themselves. And lastly to all the people of DV who have high inspirations for financial security and that whatever happens we pray for Gods presence in each of their lives.

Since it seems many of us are on this site everyday or two, we are a family........... a Dinar Vets family. As a family we can pray together can rejoice together and let God know he is still number 1 in our lives.

Whether the RV happens or not, I am still a Christian and always will be because our true rewards await us in heaven.

Please indicate your desire to be part of a of this DV prayer.

This thread is an absolute joke in my opinion. You shouldn't pray for a currency to rv, there are much more important issues and causes people suffering etc. Just b/c you tack ona prayer for the people in iraq on top of your "god please make me rich" prayer doesn't make it any better

  9. I have talked to multiple bankers and all have basically said their currency services are basically a courtesy they provide to their customers they really dnt make much if any money off of it. They offer really low margins and with transportation costs and them paying a point or two above spot they basically break even. If ur going on vacation they r happy to helpbut not looking to help investors they all tell me if u wajna invest in currency go on forex.

Its probably also true that it has something to do with there really being no official rate in the sense its not pegged to usd or other currencies its prob risky for them to be holding alot of it

  10. Im downtown but wouldnt mind driving up to an hour sobeven if ur in sw michigan or chicago burbs thats cool. Looking to buy dinar. Willing to pay 900 for 25k notes maybe kore if u got smaller notes. Probabpy looking for 1-3 million. I may b ithe market for some dong as well if the pricebis right and someone wants to get out of the dong seems everyone is super negative on thdong now i figure its gotnowhere to go but upe

  11. Same thing happenned with the mexican peso in 1996. Imho I think we will make our money slowly overtime as the economy and in turn the currency become more valuable not overnight with an rv. Like I said look at past examples loke the mxn peso or turkish lira nobody gets rich ur just given diff denom noyes

  12. As for losing money changing old notes for new notes personally I DO believe we will lose money. It's not like we can just walk into a bank and exchange our old notes for new notes so unless you plan on taking a trip to Iraqi how will you do it?

Some of the dong sellers will probably start a service offering to change your old dinars for new dinars for some type of cut or percentage.

As for where to buy, I have bought from several online vendors but have also bought from ebay and never had a problem buying from ebay. you also have paypal protection which will refund your money at the drop of a hat if your not happy. not sure why everyone is so scared to buy from ebay.

I'm completely new to this and kind of nervous because we really don't have extra money. I've been sick for the past couple of years and want to do this so my husband can possibly retire some day. There was mention on here about waiting until the new dinar comes out. Has it come out yet?

    Thank you for your help.

    Terry

Also, does anyone know if there are any banks in the Green bay, WI or even Milwaukee area that sell dinars?

IF YOU ARE HURTING FOR MONEY DO NOT BUY IRAQI DINAR!!!

In my opinion anyone who doesn't have a safety net amount of money, money in retirement account, etc has no business buying dinar. I personally am totally prepared to lose all the money I put into the dinar. It's a very risky hting and though it could rv tomorrow it could also never happen at all. Don't take money you need to pay bills or money taht could be used as safety net money to buy dinars, just not smart if you ask me.

  13. PLEASE DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!

    Got this from another source.

Take from it what you will.

    AQ & BGG CHAT, 11-14-2011, 4:35 PM

[A.Q] hey guys....................we all know to take this with a grain of salt and do that with this........this is RUMOR and even Scottyg says NOT VERIFIED...............this in NO WAY reflects this forum or what BGG and the forum says just some good info if it is true Scotti G: This is the absolute latest info. I am trying to confirm all aspects but as it stands right now. My 30 year currency exchange expert is stating that the banks in Iraq are trading the newly valued IQD. I am told that the in country rate is $4.40. I am also getting word from Dubai that Maliki has just announced the adjustment. Everyone is nuts. I do not have confirmation from the banker because it is not released yet into the country. I will let you know more when I find out more. I do not know what the politics of releasing in the US banks is at this time. Do not go nuts just yet. We are not 100% yet but we very well could be there! No questions I will be back later!

    [A.Q] We all need to keep HIGHHOPES........:}

[bGG] Folks I am all in favor of keeping our hopes high. However.... Why would they (Iraqi's) be "cashing in" in Iraq (at 4.40)?? They would then have the more valuable of the currencies... It just goes from being able to buy a sack of groceries to purchasing a Mercedes... No reason for them to exchange to USD - only to lower denoms. Period.

[H-Spot] BGG I have always said this when people have said Iraqi's will cash in at $X.XX. It is their currency, THEY don't cash in. They get more value is all.

[bGG] I have our guys with "real" Dubai contacts reaching out to see if there is a legit word....I'm not buying in. Our phones would have been ringing off the hook. Proof positive. These "Gurusters" are idiots.

[bGG] Plus, it's an electronic event - even them implying that it will take more than 30 seconds to populate the systems shows how ignorant of the actual systems they really are. Horse Pucky!!

[A.Q] BGG.............love the new webster word. I agree with you however the fact that Shabs made the announcement now M.....tomorrow a holiday over there just declared on Sunday makes me think SOMETHING may be UP but rates are not true...jmho

[bGG] This morning I sent an e-mail to Kansas while I was on the phone - As soon as I pressed the button the guy said "oh, there it is..." - literally less than one full second. That's how fast the electonic system will populate...none of the big traders will have even a split second to "beat the game".

[phantom] A.Q still waiting for validation???????

[bGG] This sheer lunacy about - "it's live over there @ x.xx rate" is just NUTS!!

[wmawhite] A.Q ............please update me on the "fact that Shabs made the announcement....."

[bGG] I said over the weekend - every single dinar holder will know about this thing (once it is real) in about 3 hours. No one will have a huge time advantage. Just won't happen. Once it shows (for real) we'll all know immediately. I have heard about both speeches - once we have some clarification on translations, I'll be lots more firm. Till then, I'm still telling you - from now till about Wed. (for real). But not right now...(My thoughts).

[A.Q] wma..................cant here..............and still tracing it for myself

[bGG] This whole "Chicken little, chicken little" thingy is simple - it's all about readership and ratings. Plain and simple.

[bGG] The truth of the matter is that we are close, but our market man hasn't heard a whisper. Our Dubai contacts haven't placed a single call yet. Our Fed contact hasn't "batted an eye" and our banking contacts haven't gotten any memo or updates. However, we do have a couple of contacts "a little closer to the fire" who have given us some "heads up"... When it's real - I promise, I'll be - Johnny-on-the-spot bringing it to you.... Now I have to get back to work. Blucky!!

    ...yawn...and a negative lol

  14. Is your message pumping us to look into and purchase??

    Go RV

Do u have trouble reading? There is nothing to look into. Simply asking if anyone else who has bought dong has noticed the same. If you own any 20k dong notes do they look good or are they crappy.

Think about us dollars the $1 and $5 bill are always more worn than say a $20 or even more so a $50 or a $100. Thats my exp with the euro and other currencies ive handled while traveling as well.

I was just curious why every 20k note ive ever bought is worn to the point u can barely see the dudes face.anymore while 10k notes I have bought tend to be in pretty good shape.

  15. Ok obviously if u buy uncirculated notes they will be nice but I always buy circulated as I dnt see any reason to pay a premium for nicer looking notes.

I have bought dong from a number of ebay sellers as well as from a few of the dong websites and every 20k note I have ever gotten has been really worn/faded.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this? I suppose it doesnt surprise me that much as with any currency the smaller notes get worn more quickly than the larger denomnination notes but what is wierd is the 10k notes I have gotten have all been in pretty good shape and thats smaller than a 20

  16. I thought selling your dong

was only legal in Nevada.

Speaking of all the dong inuendo I was watching the movie horrible bosses this weekend and was lmao when jennifer anniston told her coworker "your going to give me that dong" lol

I don't have any dong at this point but have been thinking about it. Wouldn't mind taking a couple of million dong (smaller notes) at your price, with free shipping, and using paypal, but I am in Canada ... how does that work or will it? Up to you.

    :)

    smee2

Hey smee2 was trying to send u a pm with my email and to discuss but couldnt figure out how to send a pm or if I even can as a basic member. Anyhow I have no prob shipping to canada. If its just a mill or two was gonna see if u could throw in $5 to help cover shippping if at least 3 ill pick up the shipping. Lenme know if ur interested shoot me a pm
