  1. I got an email from Joey and Vic saying that they had been stopped from being part of the IQD team. They said they asked to see books for donations and money made from the products they were selling. And they were not allowed to see them. So they decided not to be associated with the IQD Team. They were supposed to have a call tonight without Joey and Vic but the # they give you is an old call with Joey on it. She was the whole show as far as Im concerned. They cut their own throats. Alot of people went there just to hear her. Just to let people know what Joey had told me. I hope Joey and Vic find a way to do the news themselves. They were good.

  2. Kaperoni Chat Saturday Night 10pm CST 2011 DinarAlert Chat 10/22/11

    10/23/2011

kaperoni: Tonight’s is a going to tie last nights chat with tonight World Bank report….

kaperoni: All quotes tonight are from the following…

kaperoni: World Bank Republic Of Iraq - Financial Sector Review

    kaperoni: http://siteresources.worldbank.org/intmena/resources/financial_sector_review_english.pdf

kaperoni: I mentioned last night that I believe the RV is managed by the World Bank in conjunction with the IMF. I believe this as the World Bank is financing the banking reforms in Iraq, therefore they are supervising this entire project.

kaperoni: Let me lay this out for you…

kaperoni: First, the World Bank is a project-oriented bank. They help countries with specific projects; in return they supervise them to their completion. That being said...let’s create a timeline for the actual RV itself…

    Read More Link on Right

kaperoni: Here is a quote from his article pertaining to the overall project…this is good to see as they are expediting all of the reforms….

kaperoni: “there was strong agreement between participants in the discussions that the restructuring process has taken much more time than anticipated, and needed to be brought to a speedy conclusion.”

kaperoni: Yes they do!…business in Iraq is no good….look at this quote…

kaperoni: “Iraq also scores poorly in the World Bank’s “ease of Doing Business” Survey – 166 out of 183 globally”

    kaperoni: That is crap!

kaperoni: And as stated when the World Bank was in Washington just a few weeks ago, they want these reforms to go forward without GOI interference…here is a quote…

kaperoni: “three conditions must be stressed. First, it is essential that the political will is confirmed to let the Cbi exercise banking supervision using its full powers under the laws and regulations, and its professional judgment without any interference.”

kaperoni: Now, I have stated that I feel the ISX (Iraqi Stock Exchange) is a key to this RV. Why?

    kaperoni: Let me explain…

kaperoni: The ISX is the stock market for Iraq…and there are very well companies in this at the present time. I think there are about 60 companies or less on the ISX at the present time. That is not very good and going to be difficult to transition to a Free Market Economy unless they can get more..

kaperoni: Now this is how there going to do that…

    kaperoni: Here is a quote…

kaperoni: “plans are also well advanced for the creation of custodian banks which will make it easier for foreigners (and large domestic investors) to trade while keeping the restrictions.”

    kaperoni: Another…

kaperoni: “ISX is in an advanced stage of introducing the custodian bank system to its market. According to the Chairman, a major international bank is ready and is waiting for the necessary licenses to be granted. Others have also expressed interest in offering the service.”

kaperoni: We saw an article last night on this…they expect to implement this with a new law in November, 2011

kaperoni: Once they do, they can sell off some state owned companies to private investment and let them issue stock through the market building as the base.

kaperoni: This is how slow the market is….

kaperoni: “only one company listed on ISX in 2010 and five delisted. New admissions to listing are the lifeblood of any stock exchange. On that basis ISX is at a critical stage of its development. It is not clear why growth in listings has come to a halt.”

kaperoni: Once they get the Custodian bank going in Nov, they can auction these….

    kaperoni: Quote...

kaperoni: “similarly, while the privatization of 296 state owned companies potentially opens up great opportunities”

kaperoni: You all see where I am going? This is the transition to the free market economy in which will support the dinar value.

kaperoni: Now we also know the ISX needs to get some laws updated. We discussed that a few weeks ago in a chat…here is a quote…

kaperoni: “A permanent Securities Law has been under discussion for several years. The government needs to urgently conclude these discussions, after also considering the recommendations contained in this report. The Law should then be presented to Parliament for speedy passage. Early passage of the Law is required to allow the Isc to enhance its role in developing capital markets.”

kaperoni: Ok, so when is all this going to be done and when is the RV?

kaperoni: Lets look at the WB charts….

kaperoni: “CBI: Implement public information campaign, on role of banking system, banking supervision and depositor protection; building confidence of public at large in the banking system, also the private banks start immediately, complete end 2011, including discussion with the industry and in parliament.”

kaperoni: That looks pretty clear to me that is what we have been reading and seeing for the past several months..and do you see the date? complete end 2011

kaperoni: Here is another interesting one…. No time frame…

kaperoni: “The CBI currently has staff of around 1600, down from approximately 2650. The governor intends to decrease the number of staff further, to around 500.”

kaperoni: Gee, looks to me they better get the show on the road?

kaperoni: Here is some more Dec deadlines….

    kaperoni: By Dec 31st 2011

kaperoni: "level the playing field to create a vibrant competitive banking sector"

kaperoni: "allow private banks to deal with government departments and state-owned enterprises."

kaperoni: "implement the planned gradual increase in capital requirements for all banks, under the regulations issued by Cbi"

kaperoni: "update legislation and associated regulations"

kaperoni: "enact the permanent Securities Law including amendments proposed in this review including reinforcing the independence of the ISC."

    kaperoni: Here is the best....

kaperoni: "accelerate the transit to a market economy"

kaperoni: "resolve the legal and practical issues around transferring ownership of companies from the state to private shareholders and move to the decision phase"

kaperoni: So Jan 2012 they are like a bullet out of a gun.

    kaperoni: Done

Sal Catrini Leaves JPM, Joins Bove At Rochdale

Posted by Tyler Durden at 9:48 AM

In a sad move for Wall Street news hounds, the creator of the most widely read "market intelligence" update has left the building.

Sal Catrini, whose Early Look At The Market was required reading for bankers and hedge funders on their daily commutes, built a reputation for providing unbiased and comprehensive news summaries for many years while at Bear Stearns, and subsequently at white knight acquiror JP Morgan.

Sal will continue providing his news reports at Rochdale, although it is unclear whether the company will have the same infrastructure support that he enjoyed while at JPM.

  7. I can't remember who, but I still remember somebody here posting that they had somebody tell them 3 things that were going to happen to them in their lifetime. I know one of them was where they were going to live, which came to pass. I can't remember the other. But the last one to come, was that they were to be blessed in October. I never forgot that. So whoever you are, don't think that nobody was listening to you. I still am holding you to that. If it happens before, which i think it can, that would be a bonus. The rate, they still keep referring to it being the strongest currency in the world, and 1 to 1 does not cut it. Unless of course they are considering RV ing a few times in a short while, which has also been alot of peoples guess. So there you have my guesstimate.

    * Hopes to trim three zeros off dinar currency by 2013

    * Unemployment to range between 15-23 pct in 2011 (Adds quotes, details, background)

    By Martina Fuchs

ABU DHABI, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Iraq will aim to keep inflation at 5 percent in 2012, helped by central bank policies to control price growth, the country's finance minister said on Wednesday, and hopes to redenominate the dinar currency by 2013.

"I hope that in 2012, with some of the policies of the central bank, to control it (inflation) again to around 5 percent. For 2012, the target is 5 percent," Finance Minister Rafie al-Esawi told Reuters at a gathering of Arab finance ministers in United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi.

Iraq's core annual inflation rate quickened to 7.1 percent in July from 6.4 percent in June, driven mainly by higher housing rental prices.

"I don't think that inflation will increase ... It increased in the last few months to more than 6 percent. The central bank tried to move its policies, tried to control it back again," Esawi said.

Core annual inflation was not expected to exceed 7 percent in 2011 as the economy remained relatively stable, with a steady flow of goods and no unexpected government expenditure, an official said in June.

In August, Iraq said it planned to redenominate its dinar currency by knocking three zeros off its nominal value to simplify financial transactions.

"The central bank prepared its study to present to the cabinet, which was not yet received, so it's still in the hands of the government," Esawi said, adding he hoped this would be done by 2013.

Iraq's central bank began discussing the redenomination of the dinar last year aiming to help ease financial transactions. In Iraq many payments are still carried out in cash because of the underdeveloped banking system.

The Iraqi dinar is traded in auction at a fixed rate of 1,170 per dollar.

Iraq is recovering after years of war and sanctions and oil still dominates the economy, accounting for 95 percent of government revenues.

The minister also said he expected the unemployment rate in the country to range between 15 to 23 percent this year.

Investors complain Iraq's still heavily centralised economy is mired in red tape and bureaucracy, and transactions are still often carried out in cash.

"Iraq, being in a transitional period, it will take a long time for reforming its financial and monetary policies," Esawi said. (Reporting by Martina Fuchs; Editing by Toby Chopra, Ron Askew)

  10. US pays Iraqi tribes to clear highways of debris and IED’s despite banPosted: June 7, 2011 by THE CURRENCY NEWSHOUND - Just Hopin in Iraqi Dinar/Politics

Tags: Iraq, middle east, Muqtada al-Sadr, New York Times, Nouri al-Maliki, United States, United States armed forces, Warfare and Conflict 0U.S. paying tribal chiefs for security despite ban

Erbil, June 7 (AKnews) – Tribal leaders in Iraq are receiving $10,000 a month each from the U.S. in an underhand move to pay for security services.

Officially the ten chiefs are receiving the payments to clear rubbish from the sides of a 160-mile road through the dessert.

But the highway being cleared is the one that will be used by U.S. troops as they withdraw from Iraq later this year, and the people employed from the tribes are really looking for improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

An agreement signed by Iraq and the U.S. bans the Americans from paying tribal leaders to provide security.

The Sheiks each hire 35 men who will police the road and act as informants.

Quoted in the New York Times, Col. Douglas Crissman, head of the U.S. forces in southern Iraq, said: “I can’t possibly be all places at one time.

“There are real incentives for them to keep the highway safe. Those sheiks we have the best relationships with and have kept their highways clear and safe will be the most likely ones to get renewed for the remainder of the year.

“Given the amount of money we have spent in this country, $100,000 to secure our highway a month is a small price to pay, especially given the importance of the highway to the withdrawal.”
