  1. Now this is a great debate thread. Good responses. My thinking is that as long as all these other countries keep forgiving Iraqi debt and the US is supporting through handouts, and the fact that oil is purchased with USD, the country of IRAQ is on easy street. No need to RV.

Now I'm not referring to the people of IRAQ. It is obvious that the government of IRAQ doesn't care about its people. Nothing what so ever. Over there, you are either filthy rich or dirt poor. How could any government official sleep at night knowing their people are suffering. The government of IRAQ's biggest project on their calender agenda is when their next holiday(s) are. Craziest thing I ever saw.

It's called living in the twilight (Green) Zone

  2. Pegged rates, not internationally traded/recognized.

Banks can get the IQD directly from the banks, but one of the things CBI can do by selling IQD is build up foreign currency reserves. Which is a good thing...

Internationally known currency will make it easier to trade.. Be traded online with sites such as forex.

Just remember, the foreign currency dept. within the CBI will have revenue upon the buy/selling of IQD.

There's always a difference between the buy & sell rate.

Upon a RV, the trading will likely be more frequent, and at a higher rate.

The forum question id good. And Darin, your answer seems logical.

    Have a nice day

  3. Is he allowed to dismiss himself then?? :)

    Techni, yes and no.

If he tried to dismiss himself because of a lack of performance it would turn himself against himself. The reason being by getting this law passed he actually showed he was performing his duty. Therefore, his dimissal would then come under being dismissed for politics and/or cronyism and creat a scandal because of himself, by himself and for himself.

Please don't make me explain myself again.

  4. What intel? was my first question. It is time to bash. 1) there is no post site for his dog 2) he didn't give the make, model, or colour of his dog. Of course then I read the whole three pages and lo it was a chow with a purple tongue. I rate that right up there with the huskey with blue eyes. It is always good to read the whole post before bashing. Of course where I live we prefer the black dog over a slow fire. Have a nice day

  5. I was in Katmandu Nepal several months ago for a conference. When I left I was shocked to see so many young Nepalese men flying out of the country. Having to wait in line forever to go through check in I over heard that these men had been hired and headed to Iraq. They said that every day close to 600 men from Nepal was headed to Iraq to assist with construction. They also said that this had been going on for some time. The rebuild has been going on and will continue for quite some time. A new Iraq is coming forth and one major part of its future is the rv of its currency.

There tou have it. No wonder the Iraqis can't find a job.

  6. I have not been at this long and I have high expectations ( at least .10 worth). I have tried to follow, read and listen but some things seem to be the same where ever we are. The next ice age, Y2K, global warming, what has to happen for the RV. We seem to accept what fits what we want. If it doesn't fit it is smoke and mirrors. I mean, global warming is about to freeze my rear-end.

Now that said, there is one issue I have not seen addressed, that to me is the most important - security for an RV. The more I read I come to the conclusion that an RV is months if not a year away because of the security issue. I hope I am wrong and would like some feed back on this issue. Once there is an RV with the sectarian violience and military weapons out there, would we not have a lot of mugginings and banks being blown up (especially the new ATM's). How easy would it be for 10 or 20 guys to hit some of these banks or armored cars? Could this be what the GOI and Shabibi is worried about?

Looking for some facts and good opinions on this issue.

    Thanks -- GO RV

The point is bad security no RV. The only thing they seem to be able to protect is the Green Zone and I doubt they leave that very often.

  7. The document mentions the plan is based on 1 IQD=1 USD. But there are many problems with this plan....the worst being that the country's infrastructure is in much worse condition than this document states. Meaning, it's going to cost a lot more than what is projected in this plan. This plan briefly touches on the three major players in the country and theri differences.....but it completely ignores the fact that none of these groups is willing to put the good of the entire country above thier own interests. (sounds a lot like US politics) Then you have the meddling of Iran in addition to the religious left putting thier two cents in any chance they can get. It is very hard to build roads, schools, power plants, hospitals, and housing while you're getting shot at or constantly on the look out for some hidden bomb. It's easy to say it's going to take X amount of time and dollars to build let's say....a power plant with reliable transfer lines to nearby cities.... but it's quite different in reality when you have to build the plant 3 times, repair blown up towers over and over and over because insurgents are destoying them as fast as you put them up. The document completely ingnores a realistic timeline to impliment....nothing can get done until it is safe to work in the country and that includes any RV. As long as we have mass unrest and daily acts of terrorism....there will be NO RV!!!!!! We have a long way to go before we see the fruits of our investment.......sorry, you might not want to believe it, but my theory is more likely than those that keep saying tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. One thing I agree with in the document is the $1 rate.......all this $3 plus inside intel is pure unsubstantiated pumper garbage....don't bet on it and don't hold your breath, it aint happening tomorrow B)

Thank you for your take on this. I have been thinking the same thing for a while. Even tried to get some feed back. No RV till security is established.
