  1. My father fought at Iwo Jima. Out of 243 men in his company only 2 were left. He would never talk about it. He passed away in 1970. I still miss him a lot. Thank you Qman for the remembrance.
  2. Mubarak Worth More Than $70 Billion Friday, 04 Feb 2011 08:49 PM Article Font Size Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and his family have amassed a fortune estimated at $70 billion according to analysis by Middle East experts poll by the London Guardian. And very little of that stash is kept in his own country, they say. Much of his wealth is in British and Swiss banks or tied up in real estate in London, New York, Los Angeles and along expensive tracts of the Red Sea coast. How does a dictator get so rich? Over 30 years as president, and before that a senior military officer, allowed Mubarak has access to the oligarchs who control much of the investment capital in Egypt’s very closed, highly bureaucratic system. Investment deals have generated hundreds of millions of pounds in profits for Mubarak. Most of those gains have been taken offshore and deposited in secret bank accounts or invested in up-market homes and hotels. According to a report last year in the Arabic newspaper Al Khabar, Mubarak has properties in Manhattan and exclusive Beverly Hills addresses on Rodeo Drive. His sons, Gamal and Alaa, are also billionaires. A protest outside Gamal's ostentatious home at 28 Wilton Place in Belgravia, central London, highlighted the family's appetite for western trophy assets. Amaney Jamal, a political science professor at Princeton University, told the Guardian that the estimate of $40 billion to $70 billion was comparable with the vast wealth of leaders in other Gulf countries. "The business ventures from his military and government service accumulated to his personal wealth," she told ABC news. "There was a lot of corruption in this regime and stifling of public resources for personal gain. "This is the pattern of other Middle Eastern dictators so their wealth will not be taken during a transition. These leaders plan on this." © Newsmax. All rights reserved.
  3. leola rusty,,,are you invested in a currency that may rise on the price of oil???? global warming doesn`t exist, for you who don`t want to stop burning fossil fuel,,,3 yrs ago oil co`s made huge profits on futures dealers (money grabbers),,,when gas went to four dollars a gallon,,,NO SHORTAGE OF OIL..NO SHORT...AGE NOW,,, EITHER.... SOMEONE SAY`S...this may happen and you jump all over it,,,,ans,,,,FAN THE FIERS OF DISCONTENT,,,YOU ARE THE PROBLEM The only reason I posted this was to point out what could happen if Iran gets their way. How many people do you think even realize what could happen over there? Do you? Our government spends billions of dollars for oil, aid and arms on those countries, plus the number of our service personnel that have lost there lives. What countries will turn those weapons against us that we have furnished to them? Think it won’t happen? It has in the past. What will you do when you can’t afford gas for your car or fuel to heat your home because we cant drill in the US? We have a moratorium for drilling in the gulf. Do you think the other countries have stoped or slowed down? Sounds to me like YOU ARE THE PROBLEM if you don’t wake up. No disrespect but don’t judge someone else by your own short coming.
  4. The "NEW" War That Could Rocket Oil Past $220 In 2011 February 5, 2011 Dear Money Morning reader, If you thought the pictures coming out of Cairo and Tunisia were shocking... wait until you see what's revealed in this new video from our colleagues at Outstanding Investments... It shows how this crisis could spread to every oil-producing "ally" we have in the region. If this report is right, we could see oil prices soar as high as $220 a barrel by the end of this year! Again, just go here to see it. http://www.agorafinancial.com/reports/OST/NewWar/vp/OST_NewWar_vp.php?code=LOSTM204&o=266116&s=268954&u=47284939&l=214819&r=Milo
  5. As Mr. Smith was on his death bed, he attempted to formulate a plan that would allow him to take at least some of his considerable wealth with him. He called for the three men he trusted most his lawyer, his doctor, and his clergyman. He told them, "I'm going to give you each $30,000 in cash before I die. At my funeral, I want you to place the money in my coffin so that I can try to take it with me." All three agreed to do this and were given the money. At the funeral, each approached the coffin in turn and placed an envelope inside. While riding in the limousine to the cemetery, the clergyman said "I have to confess something to you fellows. Brother Smith was a good churchman all his life, and I know he would have wanted me to do this. The church needed a new baptistery very badly, and I took $10,000 of the money he gave me and bought one. I only put $20,000 in the coffin." The physician then said, "Well, since we're confiding in one another, I might as well tell you that I didn't put the full $30,000 in the coffin either. Smith had a disease that could have been diagnosed sooner if I had this very new machine, but the machine cost $20,000 and I couldn't afford it then. I used $20,000 of the money to buy the machine so that I might be able to save another patient. I know that Smith would have wanted me to do that." The lawyer then said, "I'm ashamed of both of you. When I put my envelope into that coffin, it held my personal check for the full $30,000."
  6. BOUDREAUX AND THE IRS The IRS decides to audit Boudreaux, and summons him to the IRS office. The IRS auditor is not surprised when Boudreaux shows up with his attorney. The IRS had demanded $23,000 in taxes from Boudreaux due to unreported income. The auditor says, "Well, sir, you have an extravagant lifestyle and no full-time employment, which you explain by saying that you win money gambling. I'm not sure the IRS finds that believable." "I'm a great gambler, and I can prove it," says Boudreaux. "How about a demonstration?" The auditor thinks for a moment and said, "Okay. Go ahead." Boudreaux says, "I'll bet you a thousand dollars that I can bite my own eye." The auditor thinks a moment and says, "No way! It's a bet." Boudreaux removes his glass eye and bites it. The auditor's jaw drops. Boudreaux says, "Now, I'll bet you two thousand dollars that I can bite my other eye." The auditor can tell Boudreaux isn't blind, so he takes the bet. Boudreaux removes his dentures and bites his good eye. The stunned auditor now realizes he has wagered and lost three grand, with Boudreaux's attorney as a witness. He starts to get nervous. "Want to go double or nothing?" Boudreaux asks. "I'll bet you six thousand dollars that I can stand on one side of your desk, and pee into that wastebasket on the other side, and never get a drop anywhere in between." The auditor, twice burned, is cautious now, but he looks carefully and decides there's no way this guy can manage that stunt, so he agrees again. Boudreaux stands beside the desk and unzips his pants, but although he strains mightily, he can't make the stream reach the wastebasket on other side, so he pretty much urinates all over the desk. The auditor leaps with joy, realizing that he has just turned a major loss into a huge win. But Boudreaux's attorney moans and puts his head in his hands. "Are you okay?" the auditor asks. "Not really," says the attorney. "This morning, when Boudreaux told me he'd been summoned to appear in person before the IRS, he bet me twenty-thousand dollars that he could come in here and piss all over your desk and that you'd be happy about it."

  8. Why "TAPS" is played.. If any of you have ever been to a military funeral in which taps were played; this brings out a new meaning of it. Here is some thing Every North American should know.. We in the North America have all heard the haunting song, "Taps". It's the song that gives us that lump in our throats and usually tears in our eyes. But, do you know the story behind the song? If not, I think you will be interested to find out about its humble beginnings. Reportedly, it all began in 1862 during the Civil War, when Union Army Captain Robert Ellicombe was with his men near Harrison's Landing in Virginia. The Confederate Army was on the other side of the narrow strip of land. During the night, Captain Ellicombe heard the moans of a soldier who lay severely wounded on the field. Not knowing if it was a Union or Confederate soldier, the Captain decided to risk his life and bring the stricken man back for medical attention. Crawling on his stomach through the gunfire, the Captain reached the stricken soldier and began pulling him toward his encampment. When the Captain finally reached his own lines, he discovered it was actually a Confederate soldier, but the soldier was dead The Captain lit a lantern and suddenly caught his breath and went numb with shock. In the dim light, he saw the face of the soldier. It was his own son. The boy had been studying music in the South when the war broke out. Without telling his father, the boy enlisted in the Confederate Army. The following morning, heartbroken, the father asked permission of his superiors to give his son a full military burial, despite his enemy status. His request was only partially granted. The Captain had asked if he could have a group of Army band members play a funeral dirge for his son at the funeral. The request was turned down since the soldier was a Confederate. But, out of respect for the father, they did say they could give him only one musician. The Captain chose a bugler. He asked the bugler to play a series of musical notes he had found on a piece of paper in the pocket of the dead youth's uniform. This wish was granted. The haunting melody, we now know as "Taps" used at military funerals was born. The words are: Day is done ... Gone the sun ! ; From the lakes ... From the hills ... From the sky . All is well. Safely rest .. God is nigh. Fading light .. Dims the sight .. And a star ... Gems the sky Gleaming bright From afar .. Drawing nigh . Falls the night. Thanks and praise ... For our days Neath the sun ... Neath the stars... Neath the sky . As we go This we know .. God is high I, too, have felt the chills while listening to "Taps" but I have never seen all the words to the song until now. I didn't even know there was more than one verse. I also never knew the story behind the song and I didn't know if you had either so I thought I'd pass it along. I now have an even deeper respect for the song than I did before. Remember Those Lost and Harmed While Serving Their Country And also those presently serving in the Armed Forces.

  10. I know this one has been around a few times, but think we all need to remember that we are able to enjoy our freedom and sleep securely in our homes because of our military. this is to help remind us of what our troops and their families sacrifice for us. I also know it is past christmas but this is a good read. > A Different Christmas Poem > > > The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the > room and I cherished the sight. > My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, > angelic in rest. > Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard to a > winter delight. > The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that > was Christmas Eve. > My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and surrounded by > love I would sleep. > In perfect contentment, or so it would seem, So I slumbered, perhaps I > started to dream. > > The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near, But I opened my eyes > when it tickled my ear. > Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the Sure sound of > footsteps outside in the snow. > My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear, And I crept to the door > just to see who was near. > Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night, A lone figure > stood, his face weary and tight. > A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old, Perhaps a Marine, huddled > here in the cold. > Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled, Standing watch over me, > and my wife and my child. > "What are you doing?" I asked without fear, "Come in this moment, it's > freezing out here! > Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve, You should be at > home on a cold Christmas Eve!" > For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift, Away from the cold and the > snow blown in drifts… > > To the window that danced with a warm fire's light Then he sighed and > he said, "Its really all right, I'm out here by choice. I'm here every > night. > "It's my duty to stand at the front of the line, That separates you > from the darkest of times. > > No one had to ask or beg or implore me, I'm proud to stand here like > my fathers before me. > My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December," > Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers." > My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ', And now it is my > turn and so, here I am. > I've not seen my own son in more than a while, But my wife sends me > pictures, he's sure got her smile.” > Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag, The red, white, and > blue... an American flag. > “I can live through the cold and the being alone, Away from my family, > my house and my home. > I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet, I can sleep in > a foxhole with little to eat. > I can carry the weight of killing another, Or lay down my life with my > sister and brother.. > Who stand at the front against any and all, To ensure for all time > that this flag will not fall." > "So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright, Your family is > waiting and I'll be all right." > "But isn't there something I can do, at the least, "Give you money," I > asked, "or prepare you a feast? > It seems all too little for all that you've done, For being away from > your wife and your son." > Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret, "Just tell us you love > us, and never forget. > To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone, To stand your > own watch, no matter how long. > For when we come home, either standing or dead, To know you remember > we fought and we bled. > Is payment enough, and with that we will trust, That we mattered to > you as you mattered to us." > > PLEASE, would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many > people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is > due to our U.S service men and women for our being able to celebrate > these festivities. 11. Would be funny if it not for being true-- THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER This one is a little different... ... Two Different Versions.... .......... .... Two Different Morals -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OLD VERSION The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold. MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MODERN VERSION The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving. CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green...' ACORN stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, “We shall overcome.” Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake. President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight. Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czarand given to the grasshopper. The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood. The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it. MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  14. Subject: PSALM 2011 PSALM 2011 Obama is the shepherd I did not want. He leadeth me beside the still factories. He restoreth my faith in the Republican party. He guideth me in the path of unemployment for his party's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the bread line, I shall fear no hunger, for his bailouts are with me. He has anointed my income with taxes, My expenses runneth over. Surely, poverty and hard living will follow me all the days of my life, And I will live in a mortgaged home forever. I am glad I am American, I am glad that I am free. But I wish I was a dog ..... And Obama was a tree. 15. The North American Currency Union is a theoretical economic and monetary union of three North American countries: Canada, the United States and Mexico. Map of a theoretical NAU, with Canada, Mexico, and the United States Implementation would involve the three countries giving up their current currency units (U.S. dollar, Canadian dollar, and Mexican peso) and adopting a new one, created specifically for this purpose. (Some versions of the theory, particularly those circulating in Canada, assume only the United States and Canada would be included.) The hypothetical currency for the union is most often referred to as the amero.[1][2] The concept is modeled on the common European Union currency (the euro), and it is argued to be a natural extension of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP). Conspiracy theorists contend that the governments of the United States, Canada, and Mexico are already taking steps to implement such a currency, as part of a "North American In August 2007, rumors and conspiracy theories began circulating across the Internet regarding alleged United States Treasury-issued amero coins. The inspiration behind these rumors may have been the posting of images of medallions created by coin designer Daniel Carr.[1] Carr, who designed the New York and Rhode Island 2001 statehood quarters, sells medals and tokens of his own design on his commercial website, "Designs Computed" (also known as "DC Coin").[1] Among his designs are a series of gold, silver and copper fantasy issues of amero coins ranging in denomination from one to one thousand.[1] The medallions have the legend "Union of North America" on the back with his company's logo, a stylized "DC",[15] in small type.[16] Concerning his amero designs, he mentions on his website: My goal with these coins is not to endorse a Union of North America or a common Amero currency. I fully support the United States Constitution, and I would not welcome (in any form) a diminishment of its provisions. I expect that these coins will help make more people aware of the issue and the possible ramifications. I leave it up to others to decide if they are in favor of, or against a North American Union. And I encourage citizens to voice their approval or disapproval of government plans that impact them.[17] Unauthorized postings of images taken from his website have been reposted widely across the Internet, often being used as supposed "proof" of the amero coinage. Notably, white nationalist and former Internet radio talk show host Hal Turner ran a full article on his website about the "amero coin", claiming to have arranged for a United States Government minted "amero" to be smuggled out of the United States Department of the Treasury by an employee of that organization.[18] Following Turner's assertions of federal minting of ameros, a web site marketing the curio coins released a statement debunking Turner's claims of a government cover up regarding Daniel Carr's amero products.[19] The urban legend investigating Web site Snopes also ran a further counter to Turner's claims, stating "neither the U.S. Mint nor the U.S. Treasury has a hand in creating these 'Ameros'. These coins are merely collectibles offered to the buying public by a private company in the business of manufacturing such curiosities."[20] Hal Turner claimed that Carr's website had been created in haste in a matter of days expressly to discredit his claim about the coinage. [21] However, Carr's designs have been available through his website since 2005,[22] and according to a WHOIS search at Network Solutions, the domain "dc-coin.com" was registered by Daniel Carr on September 27, 2005.[23] In October 2008, Hal Turner released a video showing an apparent 20 amero coin, with claims that shipments of the currency had been sent to China. [24] Yet the coin in Hal Turner's video is identical to a medallion on Daniel Carr's "dc-coin" website, listed as "UNA 2007 20 Ameros, Copper, Satin Finish". [25] [edit] Amero bills On December 3, 2008, Hal Turner's blog featured what he claimed were genuine "amero bills". He displayed photographs of purported 20, 50, and 100 amero notes. Turner did not identify how he obtained the images, saying only that "once again, my sources have come through". He claimed that the "new currency is already being printed and quietly distributed around the world".[26] The web site Snopes.com suggested Turner was "beating the same tired, apocryphal drum" with his new claim.[20] These images are art from the Flickr user aleatorysort,[27] who created them as an artistic political commentary,[28] and were therefore not actual currency. wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_currency_union
