What are bonus and paid up shares?

Those companies that are identified as the most active by volume I am assuming are particularly noteworthy?

Correction, their is a company in the tourism & hotel sector and a company in the agriculture sector that showed the most gain for 2012. However, the introductory price of their stock is quite high.

I went through all the companies in all sectors of the ISX for 2012 and identified those that gained for that period. Companies in five of the sectors posted gains, with the banking sector posting the most gainers. However, two companies in the industry sector appeared to show the most gain for that period. My question is, as a beginning investor am I approaching the issue of selecting companies to invest in properly, or is their other considerations to be made as part of the equation?
