Yeah I read this but the site shouldnt just go away right ? Is that normal ?
I mean I have seen sites go down but not just fly off the radar.. There was always a message or something .. I might be wrong . but I have never seen it .
It is if they want it to be. He has said in the past that he needs to switch servers before the RV for his new scheduling system so that is my guess on what he is doing.

Ok I am going to go over exactly what was said by dinargangster, beuase after I read it from his point of view and not mine the timing made more sense.

This was written at 6:17am bagdad time, He said in his words that it will happen tomorrow afternoon. After Looking at it, to me he could only be talking about our tomorrow afternoon as it was already Monday morning for him.

Once again that is now 6:40 am if it happens at 3pm CST then we are talking midnight over there and the most logical time for this to happen IMO as has been discussed many times. Everything is closed.
Who knows but after thinking it through last night it made more sense to me

That's what I was thinking. They are going to have to get ahold of admin in Houston to upgrade. All us speculators are sucking up their bandwidth!
they are hosted by softlayer (formerly ThePlanet) and they can upgrade thier bandwidth in about 2 minutes in thier backoffice, and would also get an alert sent (email and phone) to them as soon as the site went down.
Now, they could do a 301 redirect to that bandwidth exceeded page and the whole site would show the error while they are changing it, and would not have to worry about us hitting refresh 25000x while they are updating ( conspiracy theory).

All,
I’m hearing so much coming in every couple of hours that I can’t help but be excited about what is happening. Be aware guys… I can’t share specifics. For that I’m sorry. Keep your eyes on the Forex sites starting tonight please.
I’m NOT giving details, but I can’t believe what I’m hearing. This is NOT me ”pumping” anything. I’m confident we are part of something AMAZINGLY SPECIAL. We are witnessing history, and I have NO PROBLEM stating that! I’ve NEVER been more excited.
Timing, Date, and Rate are all “unknown” and I won’t go there. We will know when they are revealed. MOST of what is happening is NONE of our business, so there’s no reason to even share “specifics”. Stay patient, professional, and aware!

Iraq was removed from OFAC a while ago, thus being able to purchase dinars at certain US banks. Banks cannot legally deal in a currency that is sanctioned by OFAC.
they were only released in Sept, but you have been able to purchase at certain banks for years.

Here is an update from DD in his chat regarding the OFAC rumor. not much more info but the wording makes sense at least.
3) It was shared with me that there was something "different" that happened with the OFAC list, that Iraq's currency was officially taken off the "RESTRICTED" list. I do not know how that's different from before, but apparently there is a difference

Yes they published releasing it on Sept 15th but IMO it is only truly released when the US banks see it as a tradeable currency.

DD: TAKE THIS AS RUMOR… I jumped off the phone with Scott for this
DD: 1) Just received word that Parliament PASSED budget at 2AM this morning
DD: 2) Was told Allawi has WALKED AWAY for it all. He is NO LONGER INVOLVED at all, so don’t expect him to get in the way going forward
DD: 3) Was told… and here’s the DOOZIE… Iraq has been taken off the “RESTRICTED LIST” from OFAC…. That’s what we’ve been waiting for, if it’s true.
DD: I don’t know what all this means, but things must be MOVING VERY FAST with Parliament now. Ya just never know…. we could see an RV as early as tomorrow at this rate….

The original post should have included that we tried to order from GID. The account is correct.
We did order later in the day from DT ... it is supposed to be here Wednesday.
I did NOT buy the "borders closed" reasoning because I couldn't remember a time that this happened (although I don't have total recall).
My question is the same ... anyone see anything that talked about borders closed? ... I don't think so ... if you do though ... please post it!

Are you absolutely sure of your facts? I'm not doubting you ... I've merely never seen this and would love to receive this as a fact and not a supposition ... (I've been here on DV a while ... can you tell ... lol) ... I'm not insisting that you produce a link but if you have one I'd love to see it ... because that would be HUGE!
Now before we start spending money we don't have ... remember that earlier this year (March?) they cut all government salaries and retirement incomes by half ... then half again in anticipation of the RI/RV that did NOT happen. Can you imagine being a government employee or retiree and not getting paid for about 9 months ... wow.
Now I'm as gung-ho as the next IQD holder ... jaded a bit by these lazy MP's ... hey, isn't the 15th a UN announcement date as well.

Here is some info that I think means alot. there was alot of confusion regarding these smart cards being isssued as they were supposed to be issued by Oct 30th but no one had heard an update, and then today we get this new article below. Now the significance of the smart card is this.... This is my opinion so please feel free to correct me on the facts....
A little history first, Iraq is basically a welfare state like many others in the middle east, each person gets a share of the oil profit every month, for years since the fall of the Saadam regime (since the money has been worthless) it has been 1250 dinar per month well in the end of August they announced that they would be issuing new smart cards and the value would be 250 dinar per month. Now I dont know about you, but when you have citizens living on less than $2 per day, and to cut thier welfare income by 80% does not seem like a very wise move.
So we do a bit more digging and find out that the rate that iraqis used to get during the saadam regime was yes, you guessed it, 250 dinar per month, back when the rate was $3.22 US per dinar. So putting the peices together you can see that this is all part of the process of the RV, but what about that deadline of Oct 30th that came and went with no mention of it.
Today this article came out explaining it to us, and also opened our eyes to how close we are. Read the article and chat below Obviously we know that Iraq loves to miss deadlines and push everything to the last minute but this article tells us in itself that they do not have a very long rope as the extensions they are giving are only a few days at time.

He said an official source in the Ministry correspondent (The Iraqi News Agency (INA) That the extension came after holding several meetings between representatives of the Ministry of Culture and the Rafidain bank in the presence of those involved in the international company smart card direct to the smart card of authors, artists and Iraqi journalists covered with his Excellency the Prime Minister with effect from 26/10/2010 to 9/11/2010.
He added that the decision was made in view of the inadequacy of the specified period agreed to ولكثرة the requests received by the ministry on the extension of the period agreed to extend this to 15/11/2010 and to instruct all parties concerned to promote the extension.

Could anything happen like maybe the govt is formed and still no RV. hmmmmmmmmmmm, thats my biggest concern. Wonder what the next excuse would be though. I NEED an RV now.
Anything is possible. I have told my family if the Gov is formed and nothing happens within a week, then I will not look fot it until next year sometime. In saying that, this next week looks VERY good.

The site you qutoe is for purchasing not the same as forex. EZForex is trying to sell you Kuwati Dinars for travel. Their price will be higher!
Yes you are right and wrong, the only place you can buy/sell the kuwait Dinar is at places like those or banks the deal in international currencies, as you cannot trade it. It is pegged to the dollar and not a free float currency. So the point being while the exchange rate "may" still be $3.56, the rate showing at BofA, Wells Fargo, and exforex are all around $4.
I personally do not know how long it has been like that or if it has changed recently as I was not watching it. But the rate that everyone can agree on is how much does it cost me to buy 1 Kuwait dinar, and currently that is around $4 (3.96-4.07)
If you can find somewhere that is selling it for $3.56 I would like to see it.
Now here is another thought completely, could this be pointing to what we might expect to see as a spread. Assuming 3.56 is the buy rate and 3.96 is the sell rate (BofA by the way) This would be an 11% spread I believe, seems reasonable to me.......

Can someone tell me why some speculators on DV are saying that this isn't true?
BAGHDAD -- The Iraqi Central Bank is planning to redenominate the national currency in an effort to ease transactions and allow people to carry less paper money, RFE/RL's Radio Free Iraq (RFI) reports.
Mudhhir Muhammad Salih, a member of a Central Bank advisory panel, told RFI that a plan has been made to remove three zeros from the currency and phase out the current banknotes late this year.
Salih said by the end of 2010 the new banknotes will be fully introduced while the old banknotes will be gradually removed from circulation. He did not specify when the new notes would be issued.
Both will be legal tender in Iraq until the old notes are completely withdrawn.
Iraqi officials have had a long-running plan to redenominate the Iraqi dinar. In 2006, the Finance Ministry recommended to the Central Bank that it carry out such a plan.
Salih pointed out that banks are having a hard time accepting cash savings and deposits, but by dropping the zeros it will make it easier for both the banks to deal with their customers and for the general public to carry money. He said some 80 percent of Iraq's money supply is cash in circulation.
Salih added that in 1990 the value of banknotes in circulation was about 25 billion Iraqi dinars but is currently some 25 trillion dinars.
Economic analyst Hilal al-Tahhan told RFI that the bank's move is overdue. He said he expects the currency change to go smoothly because of the decision to allow both the old and new banknotes to coexist, leading to less turbulence in the economy.
The current exchange rate is 1,167 Iraqi dinars to the U.S. dollar.

This statement is correct. It says both old and new will be in Circulation and they will phase the 000 notes. Nothing about lop here just that they are introducing smaller denoms.

I found this follow up on another forum and thought it was worthwhile......
Okie has not been taking a bunch of phone calls, and he has not been making them. He stepped out of the forums some time ago, because he was becoming discouraged with the information that wasnt coming to pass, too much drama, and he didnt want to be a party to passing along information that would bring others down.

He said he does NOT want to reveal his source in open forum. I CAN tell you that it is NOT Cheney. I can also tell you that its NOT TerryK, or anyone connected to the forums.
