Maliki: the desire of Americans to get us out of Chapter VII and the node is Kuwait

05/01/2012 22:51

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, on Thursday, said that there is a desire in the U.S. out of Iraq from Chapter VII, indicating that the node is in the State of Kuwait.

He made it clear during a meeting broadcast by satellite Sumerian “There are legal entitlements and international on Iraq submitted to Kuwait as a result Adventure of the former regime,”

adding that “the compensation paid by Iraq to Kuwait very large and strain the economy, there are also demands impossible and can not fulfill, and we hope understanding of the Kuwaiti government. “

Maliki said that “the next visit, which I’m going to Kuwait will be discussing all these issues and we hope you understand from Kuwait to find a formula solution.”

IMO the Kuwaiti government wants to demand the impossible of Iraq. The longer Iraq stays in Chapter VII the longer Kuwait prospers. The impossible is the return of the artifacts (remains of the dead) during Saddam's reign of terror. I have no doubt that Iraq could pay reparations, considering all the money they have through their oil production. But the artifacts? They can't find the bodies. Oh, they may one day stumble on the remains, but they're buried somewhere in the desert. It would be a show of mercy if the Kuwaitis allow the sanctions to be lifted entirely, and I don't know if Kuwait will extend mercy to Iraq.

If the GOI pulls this off, it will be a blessing to Iraq and to us.

Hope you are correct and that some of the bodies of the missing Kuwaitis can be found in the area. However, the area around Karbala has been an hot archeological site for many years and group from several nations are excavating the area. I believe that a group from Japan found the remains.

Kerbala is famous as the burial place of Imam Al-Hussein and his brother Al-Abbas. But the city hides archaeological and historical sites that have been recalling the history of this holy area for 3,000 years: some from the pre-Christian era and some from the Islamic era. There are 400 caves carved by hand in the rocks. Thus, as the article you posted states, "tombs" which would precluded it being "mass graves" of Kuwaiti remains. According to scientific research they were dug in 300 BC for defensive purposes and were also used as cemeteries. http://www.mathaba.n...=544429?related

And, less I forget to tell you, you do good work Yota. Thanks.

I agree that requiring the remains of missing Kuwatis was added to make the deal impossible, but the K gov may be under pressure from influential families who lost loved ones.

I am also concerned about the return of Archives. They may no longer exist, let alone be found. We need the UN to step in and remove these two conditions.

Peace and Prosperity
