carlablum
Iraq signed an agreement to buy 18 aircraft a U.S. F-16 An adviser to Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said on Monday that Iraq has signed a contract to buy 18 aircraft from F / 16 which are manufactured by Lockheed Martin to support its air force. Was not immediately known the value of the deal, but a senior U.S. military official said recently that the offer made to the Iraqi government worth about three billion dollars. Military officials said Iraqi and U.S. forces to strengthen the air is one of the main priorities for Baghdad as U.S. forces prepare to leave Iraq by Dec. 31 after more than eight years of the invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein. Ali al-Moussawi, a media adviser to Maliki that he was signing the contract was part of the value of the deposit in a bank account for the company. The Iraqi government postponed a planned to buy 36 aircraft from Tarazaf / 16 in February to convert by buying a $ 900 million to the national program of food rations in order to help calm the popular protests in the streets. But al-Maliki said on July 30 that Iraq would buy 36 aircraft from F / 16, twice the number that was originally planned to support the weak air defenses. And Iraq has an abundance of money this year, after reaping windfall profits as oil prices remain higher than the global budget forecast http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF8&prev=_t&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ar&tl=en&u=http://www.markazaliraq.net/%3Fstate%3Dnews%26viewId%3D7966&usg=ALkJrhjiPsomlQhrqamCZY4M6wZjtxXvZw

amhvl
closer to the end of chapter 7.. Precisely my thought. I understood that Iraq could not possess weapons of mass destruction until chapter 7 was lifted. Why would they place an order on something they legally can't possess? HMMM Foreign Minister receives Assistant U.S. Secretary of State 27/09/2011 Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Hoshyar Zebari at the UN headquarters in New York on 26/9/2011 Mr. Jeffrey Feltman, assistant U.S. secretary of state for Near Eastern Affairs. During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen relations of cooperation between Iraq and the United States of America, also touched on the events taking place in the Arab region in light of the changes and political developments and calls for reform demanded by the peoples of the Arab region. The other two sides noted the need to complete the remaining steps to enable Iraq to move out permanently from the provisions of Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations. http://translate.goo...c9ojzd8pbUaQKuA Read more: http://dinarvets.com.../#ixzz1ZABKig16 Edited September 27, 2011 by carlablum

HopefulTxn
Precisely my thought. I understood that Iraq could not possess weapons of mass destruction until chapter 7 was lifted. Why would they place an order on something they legally can't possess? HMMM WMD's are basically items such as chemical, biological or nuclear weapons. If their restrictions are based on that, then they would have a wide range of munitions that the F-16's could be fitted with.
