tjmunson
Adam, Not sure I agree with your advertising campaigns. Is it all about the money or can you be a bit more selective with the companies you do business with. Every advertisement seems to be for a dating service with half naked women. I had thought DV was a bit more professional than that but you seem to be "jumping the shark". Just a concerned fan trying to make sense of things. Peace 13
krome2ez
Hey TJ. This has been discussed here before. If I recall, the ads are google ads, and not picked nor endorsed by Adam or DV. Just ignore them like every one else.
theadicts
So true. I'm 21, but I can see the old folks clicking on the mail order bride advertisements for a nice 22 year old Russian. But they will come back with: "Google automatically selects the advertisements, we do not physically pick what is advertised. Yada yada".

Appreciate your feedback but I have never solicited Russian, Asian or Phillipino love matches and that seems to be what comes up. It seems to me that Adam or any web site owner should have some control over what is connected to their website. Peace 5
TFK
Sirius is right. I'm sure Adam will be on to explain. If you use any cable companies email service, this junk pops up everywhere too. A lot of it is based on your ip address as well and will give you local crap in your state/province and even city! Disable cookies if it offends!

vrnorth
Many have complained about this. The Mod's and Adam have said it's Google and have blamed the user as if they are out shopping for wives. After debunking them they have removed the post as most likely this one will end up. IMO They want you to join the VIP as sort of benefit not seeing the Ads. OK fine, but stop blaming the user. It's not them, it's this site!!! Everyone here surf's the internet. You see your Google Ad's mark for your surfing everywhere out on the net. Ever see any ads for mail order brides while surfing the net? How about Dinar Dealers??? NEVER EVER! only here. 5

CYRUS
Its called target advertising. For example Google picks the ads based on your surfing habits AND if you have a gmail account based on the scanning of your email messages for key words. They have several ways to keep tabs on these things, cookies, IP address, computer name, computer SID,etc. It is also important to know that the activity for ALL users of the computer is recorded, so eventhough one member of the family may not be browsing for dates online, another one may and they will ALL get the ads. Sorry to say, but for the average person it imposible to remain anonymous while browsing/surfing. TexasGranny
Okay - this is an area that I am knowledgeable about so listen up all you folks complaining about the ads. Adam uses Google Adsense to help generate revenue on this site (not unusual as I use it on my own sites for the same purpose). The algorythm google uses selects ads based not only on the user but also on the content of the site, hence the dinar seller ads. If someone starts a topic in the forum covering a specific subject, it is quite possible that google will present ads based on keywords in the subject post and the replies that are generated. The site owner has almost no control over the content of the ads unless they spend countless hours monitoring the ads and requesting exclusions. It is NOT cost effective. The best thing you can do is "IGNORE THE ADS". In most cases, they are not directed at you personally. Okay, the russian women deal goes something like this: Someone posts a topic with a url link that is not allowed, that link is converted to a non-working url by the software that runs the forum. I have found in the past that sometimes those links, when clicked on, default to porn/ dating/ xxx sites (not that the link actually goes there but when you click on it, the browser you are using tries to locate the closest url it can) Now you say, so what has that to do with the russian women ads - simple as soon as the "bots" pick up that click thru to a questionable site, the algorythm triggers ads for dating/russian women/soft porn sites, etc. So, can we give Adam and the rest of the members a rest from this. Just "IGNORE THE ADS". 11

20MillionDinar
I have also noticed that the advertising pertains to keywords in the actual topic or thread one is reading. For instance, I was just reading the thread titled: DINAR WEBSITE - Traffic is starting to stall out... The numbers don't lie The advertising at the top of that page said something like: "Want to increase traffic? 48 hours" Or something along those lines... I remember a few weeks ago I was reading a post that was talking about airplanes / the "Aurora" and the advertising at the top had to do with "Private Jet Services" Just wanted to add the above info to the topic being discussed...
mlay901
Seems like everyone else has explained the technical aspects of this issue/solutions...my practical solution is a bit less complicated. support the site and join VIP...no more ads...problem solved. Adam has put in a ton of effort to provide this site and the ads are there to keep it free for anyone who doesn't join VIP. In essence, that is the price you pay if you choose to use this site free of charge. Even if Adam could choose the ads, it sure takes a brass set to question Adam's professionalism and then dismiss yourself as a "fan"...just my 2 cents...hopefully we will have an RV soon and then these things won't be an issue for discussion. GO RV.

FreckledFuzz
LOL...I understand how GoogleAdsense works, but I do regular "cleaning" on my computer and believe I have adequate spam/malware/virus protection, but I can't understand why I see ads for Filipino girls on here....strictly speaking I only looks at news and business sites, read mail, and trade FOREX from my MT4 charts on here. I think GoogleAdsense has found out my age/gender and is trying to see if it could get this old fart "going" again...LOL I
