Islamic State of Iraq pledges 100 attacks for Bin laden’s death

Erbil, August 20 (AKnews) - The Islamic State of Iraq - al-Qaeda's Iraqi front - has announced a 100-attack campaign across the country to avenge the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.

In a statement posted on an Islamic website today, the group say the attacks will vary in form – from suicide, roadside and IED bombings, sniper shots and silenced gun attacks – and target both rural and urban areas.

According to the statement, the campaign – dubbed “Revenge for Sheikh Osama Bin laden and senior leaders” – began in mid Ramadan.

On the 15th day of Ramadan, last Monday, a nationwide series of suicide, roadside and IED bombings left a total of 60 dead and a further 250 injured.

“God-willing the campaign will end after exactly 100 attacks,” the statement reads.
