Governments know that unarmed citizens are more easily controlled. There was and is a reason for gun ownership in the Constitution. Japan did not attack directly the mainland because of American gun ownership. It is proven repeatedly that areas with higher gun ownership has less crime. Areas with higher gun restrictions have higher crime statistics. I remember hearing Hillarious talk about how many American guns were going to Mexico and increasing the crime and then I learn that the government were the ones shipping the guns to Mexico. Makes me wonder if they were not trying to create statistics to create an arena to control American gun ownership. I think there have been two things which has kept America safe and from having its own dictator. Those two things are the Constitution and gun ownership.

I am a disabled police officer and i am a firm believer in gun control, control it when u aim, control it when u pull the trigger and control it until u are absolutely sure of ur target. And as we were told do not pull a gun to scare someone if u pull it plan on using it and eliminate the threat.

I grew up in Wisconsin. I heard of a small town in that state that required all it's residents to own a gun, take a gun safety course, and have yearly target practice... yes, even grandma! When a female big city reporter got wind of it she went to interview the police chief. She started in on her biased slant when the chief cut her off mid sentence. "I only have one question for you young lady... can you walk in your city park at 1 a.m. and feel safe?" She stammered... "of course not, that's crazy", was her reply. The chief just looked at her and replied... "you can here"! "If anything happens to you the bad guys know that every single house within ear shot owns a gun and knows how to use it... no one will bother you in this town!" End of story!

Thanks for sharing delta... yes, like the officer said earlier... I believe in gun control.. hit what your aiming at!

Fight crime... shoot back! wink.gif

I would hope that everyone here is familiar with the plans that the present White House Administration has for our guns?

Gun rights supporters are up in arms over a pair of moves the White House made last month to reverse longstanding U.S. policy and begin negotiating a gun control treaty with the United Nations.

Secretary of State Hillarious Clinton first announced on Oct. 14 that the U.S. had changed its stance and would support negotiations of an Arms Trade Treaty to regulate international gun trafficking, a measure the Bush administration and, notably, former Permanent U.S. Representative to the United Nations John Bolton opposed for years.

Read more: Obama revives talk of U.N. gun control http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=116041#ixzz1USq9NnEP

Supporters of the UN Arms Trade Treaty claim that it’s designed to combat terrorism and crime. The truth is; the treaty would CONFISCATE and BAN all guns owned by law-abiding citizens!Last week, the Third Preparatory Committee met for a series of discussions. The group decided that a majority vote will NOT be required for the treaty to pass! That means – all voices of dissent will be gagged and this international gun-grabbing scheme could easily pass if we are not vigilant! exports.

The socialists and one-world government crew is fighting hard to make the UN Arms Trade Treaty the law of the land! By stripping America of our right to keep and bear arms, corrupt dictators and globalists will have us under their thumb and we will be forced to SUBMIT to their radical agendas!

Gun controll has been an issue with the Washington idiots for years. Thanks to NHRA and several gun clubs they have managed to controll it. However although the idiots in Washington are finding other ways to sneak the law in. If they do happen to get it passed I am afraid of the outcome because so many people who own guns will not give them up. Including me. when force meets force something has to give and when it does God help us.

Larry the Cable Guy said it well...................Blaming a gun for shooting someone is like blaming a pencil for a misspelled word. So true. The local news always makes it a point to continuously say gun this and gun that. They fail to mention that the idiot was a crack head or that he/she is a repeat offender that has a rap sheet a mile long but the good ol' court system just keeps on giving them chances??? There is nothing common about sense anymore. Very sad. I'm loaded to the max and plan on keeping it that way! ;)

Good combination for close range (under 50 yds for the "average" marksman) & great stopping power. Gotta be careful with the state & local laws concerning hollow point ammo though.

For indoor protection, where you may have concerns with bullets penetrating walls and hitting an unintentional target (i.e. children or other family members), you might want to consider a .357 magnum or heavy framed .38 special loaded with .38 +P Glaser Safety Slugs (.357 mag. has too much flash & may blind you indoors at night) . The slug is HIGHLY effective on a living target. Yet, it will disintegrate, being rendered useless, if it ricochets or hits a wall or window. The ammo is expensive and should not be used in a semi auto as it can have feeding issues. Excellent choice for a family or high occupancy situation. :)

Didn't know that .327 rounds produce a muzzle flash. Do know that that the .22 magnum has a really huge flash, being actually a rifle cartridge, can see it in vids. But I like it. Wouldn't like the flash though.

Most all the gun writers ignore the danger of bullets from big guns, 45 caliber, 9mm, and a little below, penetrating walls. They continue to hype them as being the only effective weapon. While the police can get away with causing collateral damage, ordinary peeps go to prison. So in my view, it is stupid to carry such weapons.

I will look into the .38 +P Glaser Safety Slugs rounds. Know the .327 is equal to .38 +P in effect though smaller and can have much lower recoil. Which is a significant advantage.

The .327 is a revolver round. Is that also the case with the .38 +P Glaser Safety Slugs? Or it a pistol cartridge? Never mind, I'll find out.

I like the 38 Special +P Glaser Blue Safety Slug round, for safety.

Found this:

38 Special +P Glaser Blue Safety Slug, 80 Grain, 1600 fps, 6 Round Box.

The #12 shot is capped with a Blue ball. It produces immediate energy dispersal, creating abrupt stopping power. It is optimally designed for warmer climates and lighter clothing

Velocity: 1250 fps

Energy: 278 ft/lbs.

Test barrel length: 3.5"

6 rounds per ballistic pack

American made

Glaser safety slugs are designed for close quarter security. The safety slug minimizes the likelihood that there will be no over penetration, as well as reducing the possibility of ricochet on hard surfaces while still causing significant soft tissue destruction. Glaser safety slugs are an excellent choice for home defense, close quarter security, and personal protection.

THIS is a good idea, pasted following. Two Glaser rounds, then heavier stuff.

The Glaser Safety Slug is a good choice for self-defense in a .38 revolver of any barrel length (see caveats under "exotic ammunition," above). It is crucial to keep the chambers and frame interior absolutely free of oil or solvents when carrying Glasers, as you don't want any Breakfree CLP or Hoppe's #9 solvent seeping into the primer pocket and deactivating the round. This is important for all rounds, of course, but the Glaser isn't known for particularly good sealing against such mishaps. You may also want to consider carrying two Glasers as the first rounds to be fired, and JHP loads for the rest. This gives you a bit of insurance if your assailant tucks himself behind a sheet rock wall or doorway or some other flimsy cover that JHP rounds can blast through.
