zaborniake
Rather than fighting, maybe we can use this thread to talk about what this means to us as citizens and how we can prepare for what is to come. Shall we???? No kidding. This always happens whenever someone makes a remotely political or religious statement on this site. This is a dinar forum, not political or religious one. And trust me, no one wants to hear your opinion on either subject. Edited August 6, 2011 by zaborniake
PD46
Thank you to everyone who voted for the tea party radicals. This sounds like a statement from a democrat, socialistic, liberal, communistic progressive? How's Obamanomics working for you, Lyric2002? How's that "hope" and "change" looking now? Welcome to the Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid Depression and the Democratic Party Depression. Most Democrats and neo-con liberal Republicans are unconstitutional. Lyric2002, you would probably find more favor living in Cuba or Venazuela.

We are do screwed rates, taxes etc...S&P told us they wanted at least 4t in cuts .. Obama thought this would be good enough.., Tea party wanted higher cuts , this is very Bad for the US.. Never downgraded before glad I'm not the first president that it happened under my watch ...
David324
People are blaming this on the Tea Party Reps??? You can not be serious. I don't know where to begin to explain how stupid that view is. Democrats had had control of the spending since '06 when they took control of the House. And I'm sure you all are aware the budget starts in the House. They were the ones that spent like crazy. And it is our huge deficit that caused the downgrade. That and the fact that the idiot moderates and leftists didn't cut enough in the last debt limit increase. Moody's said we needed to cut 4 trillion to save our AAA rating. Those idiots in congress didn't come anywhere close to that. And it's supposed to be the Tea Party's fault??? They were the ones that want to cut spending. There was a plan to cut 4 trillion but the Dem's and Obama refused to agree to it. So, how is it the Tea Party's fault??? Someone please elaborate.
PD46
I am just calling it like I see it. This 100% would not have happened if the tea party backed representatives had not been elected. Their intentions may have been good but the result is what it is. Do the world a favor and stay home next election.
divemaster5734
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. It's paved with bad intentions too. We all know this is total BS, a way for investors to make some money short selling US treasuries. Who makes more money if consumer interest rates go up? They can't just raise rates without a plausible excuse while in the middle of a recession can they?

This 100% would not have happened if the tea party backed representatives had not been elected. Their intentions may have been good but the result is what it is. The Tea Party reps were the majority ones who refused to allow an increase in the debt ceiling! By allowing the debt ceiling to increase, with little to no substantial cuts, the US has proven it is not taking the horrific $15 trillion deficit seriously. The world knows it, and it is now reflected in the lowered credit rating. Can you please elaborate why you feel the way you do? You can't be serious.... ! ashtray
Thank you to everyone who voted for the tea party radicals. it was pelosi reid and obama that passed the extension of bush tax cuts ..... the 14 trillion dollars in debt was here before the tea party representatives took office ... all they asked for was cuts in deficit spending......it was the left wing that wanted more deficit spending . ... when the rest of the tea party representatives take over congress and the white house .. maybe we can get things in order ... the democrats are those who would support raising the legal limit for drinking to get drunk driving under control .. face it the democrat party is on its way out remember obama signed these things into law .. its his economy thats failing and by the way its about time some one had enough balls to put america where it belongs in the ratings .. there is no unlimited credit limit anywhere for anyone ,,,, including the united states .. Democrats are like drug addicts with spending our money. They keep begging for more money to buy their socialists programs. BlueOrchid919
Thanks I really do want to know what this means to me as a citizen. I mean, I know interest rates will likely rise, but I have this sense of impending doom and I just wanna know what's coming before the crap hits the fan. Some of the things that we as citizens will likely see as a direct result of this fiasco is a serious rise in the cost of everything. The cost of borrowing money will go up... therefore the cost to farmers who grow our food will go up... they borrow up front and then pay back once the crops are sold. The cost of imports will go up. What does the US import??? EVERYTHING! Oil, electronics, construction material, clothing, commodities (grain, beans, meat, fertilizer, etc etc). Let alone the cost to us passed on by the banking system via credit cards, mortgages, college loans, general loans, etc The value of the USD is also supported by those who buy our treasuries, bonds and other debt. There is now less incentive for them to do so. The most immediate effect this will have on We The People is a serious increase in the cost of everything. From food, to fuel, to clothing, to construction.... This is a sad day for the American Empire. It will be very interesting to see how things develop between now and year end....
