funny how neither the professional or the customer know how to use the space bar :)...Also alot of the BoA answers seem to be "canned"

What's the point of putting this on here...you go to the link and Iraqi's not even on the list.

He copied and pasted this from a java/web interface, therefore formatting is a little different, just as it is here on this forum, nice attempt at a sarcastic remark though.

I have worked as a customer representative in chat (not BOA) and yes....most of the responses are a canned response. As far as the space bar....most chat professionals are chatting with at least 2 or maybe 3 customers at once so they are trying to answer questions quickly.

As far as the conversation goes....pretty standard.

It seems that ME countries with some type of internal conflict are not listed in the B of A currencies (except for Pakistan).

Even the popular destination of Egypt is not there. Perhaps countries with some type of travel warning or ban?

It also lists Abu Dhabi as a 'country' in addition to the United Arab Emirates (it is one of the seven states in the UAE...not a separate country).

My point was they listed the state of Abu Dhabi as a country. The UAE capital city/state was listed in addition to the country itself; The United Arab Emirates.

If Abu Dhabi has issued it's own currency...I was not aware of it. <vbg>

Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, etc, are all countries.

Thank you.. Yes.. I infact thought Oman, Barhain and Qatar were/are Independent Countries .. But I erroneously deemed them all part of UAE.

It is a confusing situation, even for the people of the middle east. They are each a "country" in their own right, or thought of themselves as that. But look at the map, very small countries, hard to compete. When they stopped being productive as fishing nations and the pearl business fell off, oil discoveries in other ME nations prompted them to explore under their own sand and the rest is, as they say, history.

So, to be able to compete with the larger producers, and larger countries, they sort of amalgamated for business reasons, really nothing to do with political similarities. Each is now a "state" and they form a federation, sort of like your American States forming the Federation of the USA. They have their own laws on one level, and then the group laws on another. It has made them very rich.

Until the first time I encountered this phenomenon in an article I had to proofread, I thought that Abu Dhabi was a little African country, and that Dubai was a city state, rather like Monaco. So, to make sure I could correctly correct any mistakes in the typesetting, I had to go and read up on the United Arab Emirates and find out what might or might not be a typo. Great way to learn things you didn't know, and thought you would never need to know. But look where this knowledge came in handy? And isn't it good to learn something new every now and then? hahahaha

Glad I could be of some little help ...

:)

It's actually a lot easier if one lives there...

I lived in Al Ain (a city in the state of Abu Dhabi) and in Abu Dhabi (the capital city on the island).

Did manage to see a few of the other Emirates (states) of Sharjah, Fujairah, and Ajman, but not Ras Al Khaimah or Um Al Quwain.

It's a wonderful country and the people are so gracious and hospitable.
