Popular Post easyrider
Dear Guru’s, You are taking me on the ride of a lifetime. I got in to this at the insistence of my mom. God bless her! She sent me the initial money and since then I have done some irresponsible things to buy more but I did it knowing I will eventually be taking care of her, and my in-laws. I feel secure in that responsibility now. I would not have taken the risks I have, had I not been reading and re-reading every post on here as well combing the new sources around the world and cross referencing many other blogs. This is huge because I have been on a ride like this before. My husband and I had a company we sold years ago and it was a BIG sale (30M) payout, but being a new millionaire we were ill advised and lost ALL of it. We were surrounded with people we didn’t know. Strangers with reputable names on their business cards. So, here is my advice to the first time mm’s. Figure out the sum of money you do not want to loose and put it into a safe conservative investment. The rest of it do with it what you please but if you decide to put it into a fund, decide how much you are going to put in, and lock that amount away too, treat it like it’s gone. Be diverse in your investments. We had money in funds with Meryl Lynch and Goldman Sachs. We felt all grown up having our money with them. We committed to investing xxx and they called us like bookies (I’ve never had one, only seen it in movies) no kidding all the phones would ring in the house, than our cells would be ringing, at the same time courier would arrive to pick up a check, all for capital calls in amounts that were beginning to be larger than our shrinking bank account. It felt dirty. They did not care that we were running out of money. They threatened us saying they could freeze our accounts if were didn’t live up to our commitments. We did fulfill our commitment fearing the freeze and those investments arrived at NOTHING, ZILCH, ZERO. Those “funds” were closed. I have the statement to show it. I’m sure there are good people in those companies but I will NEVER.... NEVER do business with them again. That was a tuff lesson. We have always made money on things like this; word of mouth and our own blood sweat and tears, things you can count on yourself to keep your thumb on. Things you don’t watch you will loose money on. Pay Attention!!! Know the people touching your money, Insist that they not skim their fees off the top, make them send you a invoice for their fees on ALL transactions so you can see whats happening. Remember the people that make money on your money also get perks and kick backs from your investment so get comfortable talking about money and NEGOTIATE. Money should never be a taboo topic for you. Don’t EVER take your eyes off the numbers. Keep a checkbook and pay your own bills otherwise you begin to not look at numbers anymore and that is a bad sign of things to come. Let this blessing take care of you forever and the only way it can do that is by NEVER taking your eyes off of it. Remember, you are currently liquid which is infinitely powerful, negotiate and fearlessly protect your money so you can fulfill your responsibilities and take care of your immediate and extended families. I decided to back up Tony and share my personal story so that hopefully the management of your money will provide for generations to come. If this post helps one family I’ll be happy. I’m happy anyway today. The day is rolling along and I’m hanging on every word. When this currency RV’s this will be another one of the best days of my life!!! Thank you to all involved, Guru’s, Mods and the risks you have taken to share this historical moment and sustain us with information thru this ride. It was a selfless gift to all of us. PLEASE consider taking up another topic after the RV. I will be here at my keyboard waiting, reading and watching. 34

coldwarvet
One of the most profound life lessons I learned about business was from my martial arts teacher. This Sensei was most concerned about developing his students' character, and not as much about belts and winning trophies. When we were once discussing the business side of his Dojo, he told me "Any business is like a fickle lover. If you continue to pay attention to it, it will continue to deliver for you. When you begin to take it for granted, when you take your eyes off it, that's when you get into trouble." Make no mistake: when this investment RVs, at whatever level it pays off, it will be my business. I will pay close attention to it, nurture it, and continue to develop it. Thanks, Sensei! GO RV!

The advise is good no matter what the profile says. I am sure Ghadaffi wished he had known that before he gave his money to GS.

jgp
Thank you so much for that personal story because it could help many people if this RVs. We've all heard of many stories like this but I'd bet most think it couldn't happen to them. It can. IF THIS RVs, you will have plenty of money. Don't waste it. Don't fritter it away. And remember, NOBODY cares more about your money than you do. Nobody. If you let people know you have it, many will try to get it- some by legal means- offering to invest it for you. they get a commissions, whether you lose it all or not. Some will just try to borrow it on "can't miss" ideas. ever seen any of those? Some may just try to steal it. Tell no one and be wise. The wolves of this world are very clever. And pay your taxes- you'll have plenty of money anyway- but why be stupid and worry the rest of your life?
MovieMaker
EASYRIDER, GREAT ADVISE!!! BLESS YOU FOR THIS POST!!! YOU ARE RIGHT ON!!! I am giving ALL I have, which isn't much to the kids that wrote and are filming this movie. The Long Run <-- LINK It is a career education for them while making their dreams come true. These kids are from all sorts of needy situations and put through the production process of film making! It builds their confidence, teaches them a career, team work, keeps them off the streets and takes their mind off the tough stuff I can't go into. I pray we raise enough to finish their film and THEN HAVE MONEY TO MANAGE. The proceeds from the film will go to opening up another career program for special needs kids. They are talented too! smee2
Wow ... sometimes when you go throuth that kind of thing you think you are the only one, that on one else made the mistake of taking bad advice and ending up worse off for it. Years ago my husband and I sold our business for a lot of money, not as much as yours, but a lot for us. We were never going to be struggling again. We thought we were careful. But ... we ended up as you did. I have definitely learned a lesson and it will not happen this time. Thanks for sharing. I don't feel so much of an idiot now. smee2
