usndiver
As a veteran there are two very important holidays that I make sure my family observes, Memorial Day & Veterans Day. It seems anymore that they are more appreciated for the three day weekend that they contribute to and the bonanza of sales, than their intended purpose. Although Memorial Day is to honor our country's war dead, I want to thank all the veterans here at DV for their service. You gave part of your youth and who know's what else for the defense of this great nation of ours. I am humbled and honored to know that I stood the line with each and everyone of you. I want to encourage every member here at DV to attend a Memorial Day observance in their community. The reward in doing so will be self apparent. Finally, I'd like this thread to be a place for the members here to place the names of friends or family that they knew who died while serving in the U.S. military. Thanks, usndiver U.S. Navy (BM2 DV/SW)1983-1989 In Memorium Brian Johnson USS Holland AS-32 1987 Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service..... http://www.usmemorialday.org/backgrnd.html#1
