Nobody is thanking Obama. Why do people think folks need to specify this? No, Obama didn't kick in Bin Laden's door and fire the shot that took him out.

But Obama is the President, the Commander in Chief of the armed forces, so his administration (for which he, obviously, is the figurehead) gets the "credit" for the job because he was the one in charge when it happened.

Anyone "thanking" Obama or really congratulating him on the achievement isn't speaking to him specifically. They're referring to everyone who was a part of the operation, and they do that because nobody will ever know the name of the SEAL who fired the shot.

But also, Obama has to "take credit" because if they'd gone in with bad intel and shot up an orphanage full of kids, Obama would be the one taking all the blame. It's perfectly fair he take the credit because when we're bombing Pakistan next year, the Republicans will be all, "we're stuck in another conflict because Obama had to go into Pakistan and kill Bin Laden."

Then he'll be getting the credit and they'll be rewriting history for Bush saying he never got Bin Laden because he didn't want to cause more foreign engagements or something.

Plus this is like a month old now. Get over it.
