Seriously I cant be the only one that is just horrified that these yokels can honestly say they think Obama is muslim, or is more concerned about muslims than ourselves. You Bush loving weirdos may want to take a hard look in the mirror. It is your boy GW and his father that are RICH from saudi arabian money. Whose interest did they have when they let bin ladens family leave the country immediately after 9/11 had occurred without questioning, or when they invaded a country without provocation and sacrificed the lives of our young men and women to make money for cheney and there other oil friends. Oh i forgot that was gods will right bosefus? Now we have a president who can actually spell, killed bin laden, and has been trying to clean up the mess that was made from greed driven bible thumpers that deregulated our government for 8 years while also destroying the middle class, education systems, and our standing as a true world power and you morons want to call him a muslim. Its just sad that common sense, and thinking for yourself are an afterthought for so many religious weirdos. Staggering really.

sorry, let me say this to you: black folks only make up 13% of the US population and to say that we are all looking for handouts is the most ignorant thing that I have heard tonight out many ignorant things. so why can't I be a conservative and still not like the BS that is going on in this country when it come to race.

who are you talking about when you say people need to get a job and stop living off everyone else? little do you know and you are like many who do not know the truth to the matter is that there are more white folks on welfare than there are black people in this country. white folks make up over 40% of the population! please do some research on that before you comment.

I guess you have not been to the appalachian mountains and the countless trailer parks and small towns to know that alot of those people are on welfare- walmart , and 7-11's ain't paying all the bills. I travel alot and have seen this. the media always wants to show black folks and the ghettos and the barrios, but always leave out what I just mentioned.

again, good night!

I will say this and end it here. Race has nothing to do with people being lazy and living on welfare. People in my own family took advantage of and abused that system including my mother. That is why when I turned 17 I talked her into letting me join the military. So I could get out from under that system. As I said before. People often need a helping hand and that is what charity is all about. But abusing the system, whether a person is white, black, green, purple, or whatever color you are is wrong. Period. You can throw in all the statistics you want to. Fact is we are all personally accountable for our own choices.

. I don't like Obama, I didn't vote for Obama, but I would have been first in line to vote for Colin Powell... or is that not good enough... please take the racist crap some place else...

It wasn't racist crap. He was pointing out that there's plenty of hypocrisy among those who call themselves Christians.

so what your saying is that reading, studing history about one's past and living everyday with the racist BS is bigotry! really wow! I'm done here!

I agree, you were not using the race card. You were pointing out that there are a lot of hypocrites in this world, many of whom call themselves Christian. The incredible immorality of Christians in the past proves that being Christian is no guarantee of superior morality. Had they read Matthew 25, they could never have taken slaves. So much for the Bible. Selectively read, selectively interpreted, selectively followed.

I personally think that there is actually tremendous, heartening progress in race relations in this country, and a lot of the hatred toward Obama is just a matter of stuff that was hidden coming to the surface. But it does not represent an increase. It is simply coming to the light of day.

It would be good to have a national day of reconciliation and forgiveness.

the classic try and scare them into believing rubbish...problem is you being wrong has cost you integrity, validity, quality of life, and any sense of logic, reason, education, or intelligence. Look you seem like a very nice person, ask yourself this question...what kind of god allows the horrible horrible attrociities commited by people daily to children, the elderly, or any other person for that matter. And dont give me the free will speach, if your so called god was as loving and all of the bs they pump your mind full of so youll give the church money to pay the pastors bills, and pay for his hookers we wouldnt have a need for a forum dedicated to people trying to live a dream and score some huge investement. Honestly do yourself a favor and re read the bible with an educated mind and then come to a conclusion without listening to Pastor full of craps analysis.

well said... i feel the same way.

History shows very few people owned slaves in this country, less than 15%. I am of Irish decent mostly, slaves had value at least, we were shot on site if we got caught, many times, trying to make camp to get across country to a better life after most paid our debts of indentured servitude. The majority of us came over here to escape famine and persecution from the English and for religious freedom. Many of us came over here for a fresh start just to end up being shot for being suspected of being squatters as we tried to make it across the country. Although slavery was an issue of the Civil War, the main issue was that the South was trying to break away from the North for commerce reasons. I don't agree with bondage or hate against any man, but I will state again, me and my people only owe gratitude for the people who fought and died for this country... and founded it... That is it. I know my history. Also like I said before, let a man stand or fall by his character alone, that is the only thing that really matters. And it is also fact that history can, is and always will be manipulated to push agendas and represent the view of the winning side in most cases. I don't agree with bigotry, or discrimination, but I also won't sit back and continue to fuel a fire that should have died out years ago. As for the rapture, I, as all Christians can't wait to go and let all the rest have the planet to do what they will. I am just sorry that more people aren't interested in trying to make it, because when all of the ones that make the cut are gone, I hope I am one, this place is going to come under a divine wrath that there will be no escape from. I am simply a man and admittedly a poor excuse for a Christian, but I can also say I do the best I can. Really, all of this subject is mute, death is the great equalizer and we all only have a very short time to seek our truths as they pertain to us and our chosen beliefs. We can all only hope we have made the right choice. The one thing I can promise you is that the guy that will some day be pumping you full of embalming fluid doesn't care if you rich or poor, black or white, Asian or Latino, rich or poor, you will be just another dead guy on his table that he has to deal with before the next round comes through. I'm just saying, everybody has experiences of discrimination, some more than others granted, unless extremely sheltered or just naive. The train ride is short, we are supposed to try to make the best of it, and harboring anger for any amount of time, although we all do to some extent, is self-defeating. Ultimately, the one that remains angry loses because they allow themselves to be robbed of joy and peace, which is hard enough to obtain in this life. Just saying... peace

I have a real hard time taking you seriously when YOU CAN'T EVEN SPELL THE WORD MUSLIM CORRECTLY YOU SLACK JAWED YOKEL IDIOT.

Lizlemon, or littlemon, or whatever kind of slack jawed idiot you are, You must be a frustrated out of work english teacher or something, because the last eight or ten posts you have made have been slamming people for their grammer or spelling.

See if you can understand this...f*ck off!!! Oh, did I spell that right?

You slammed me for one of my posts that was humorous back at you. It was sarcastic humor. Most people probably got it.

You on the other hand had to instead post a nasty remark. You may be right on some of your opinions, but there is no need to slam other people for their spelling/grammer, in such a nasty way.

Hope you have a nice day...quit being so bitchy! (more sarcastic humor)

I am a Republican, but Obama was voted into office and until he is voted out of that office he is MY president. And I am heartily sick of people slandering My president. When he is out of office he can take care of himself, but right now I want him to focus on the business of my country, not on these incessant digs at his religion, his country of birth, or the dozens of other accusations that people throw his way.

If you want him out of office, do it in the voting booth, not by slander. Its small and demeaning and vicious and not worthy of Americans.

Oh, I got the joke. I replied in kind. If you think I'm earnestly arguing about the secret Muslim life of the President on the internet with strangers, you need to get better at the internets.

But that doesn't excuse peoples' piss poor skills in communication. its no coincidence that most of the people who think Obama is a Muslim can't also spell Muslim. There is a notable relationship between the stupidity of an idea and one's ability to express it. I'm only pointing it out to them in the meanest way possible because while I am not an out of work English teacher, I am a very mean-spirited person and message boards are the playgrounds of the nasty.

Talk to the guy that started the thread. And who REALLY cares anyway, but if you feel the need to police be my guest, lots of engaging stuff here.

My original comment was not directed towards you, but you felt the need to respond. I'm not here to read about prophecies or holy wars, just information about the dinar. Engaging is your opinion and I respect that, but the are off topic forums for a reason. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

Aya, you replied: 'Therein lies a difference of opinion, I believe Jesus attained spiritual perfection'

Thus, by definition, it seems like you agree with me that there is a difference between Jesus and the majority of humanity. At the very least, He was perfect- at the best, He is the exactly what scriptures say: the Son of God and way to salvation. That was my point- Jesus is different that you or I. Go RV...

From what I have read that you all have posted, it is quite clear that you have NEVER read your bible. he is wanting to turn America into a socialist country, or does that not bother you either, to take away your freedom.

It's absolutely amazing how uneducated and brainwashed you are. This thread reeks of idiocy and should be cremated immediately.

Then you said: Yes Jesus attained. He was human and achieved such. We are human and are able to achieve stuff. Jesus was just like you or I, assuming he existed at all. Jesus is NO different than you or I.

Read more:

My final reply is: Every one can attain 'stuff'. I have attained in a swimming pool in my back yard, a couple of cars, a home and a good career; however, that is not what we're talking about. Rather, we're speaking evolution- in your own words... you believe Jesus attained spiritual perfection. In 56 years, I haven't even came close to that achievement and I strive for it every day... there's not one hour that I can remember where I could say 'it was perfect'. Now, unless you're proclaiming perfection, it seems like you're acknowledging that there was a definitive difference between Jesus and us (i.e. perfection vs non-perfection) Try as I may, I simply don't understand your logic in your persistance that He was the same as us... your words belay that fact. Oh well, it's been fun- I love to have political and religious debates with people who are strong in their beliefs but I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I wish you the best and hope that your world view is always strong enough to provide comfort and hope you wish the same for me.

Like I said, it's been fun but it's back to the dinars for me now. We've played enough :)For all those reading this: zzzzzzzzz says today that it's done, done, done and we've just not seen it yet.... Seems like most of the 'gurus' are claiming the same thing. Cmate says we should see it tonight or tomorrow. Who knows, but Go RV :)

...

I'll quickly provide some examples of methods within major religions that I find to be closest to spiritual enlightenment

Islam - Sufism

Judaism - Cabalism

Christianity - Gnosticism

I'll leave it at that, if anyone actually cares I'll share more of my perspective on these three practices. This is all assuming of course that every major religion is in essence pointing to the same thing. (They're just using different names to describe them.)

The assumption is wrong. True Christianity is having "Faith" in Jesus of Nazareth, (Jesus Christ), that his life, death, and resurrection was payment for the sins of the world. In so believing and repenting of our Sins we would be forgiven of our sins (past, present & future). This forgiveness is a "free gift" from God, and there is nothing that we can do to "earn" that salvation through what we call works (good deeds, being a good person, etc, ...).

Any religion that says there is "Another Way" to reach Heaven or God, is a false religion and its from Satan, because Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.". If you pray to anything that will intercede for you, you can bet you're not worshipping the one true God.

To say the assumption is flat out wrong is kind of silly. To say you do not agree with my perception is just fine. I don't read the bible for a literal translation, I don't see how anyone could! But I'm entitled to feel that way just as you are entitled to feel the way you do. Can't we use this method as a basis of discussion before accusing one another of having flat out the wrong idea?

Why should I beat around the bush, and give you a glimmer of hope that what you believe "may" be true, when in fact we both know what the Truth is and you refuse to accept it? I've read the end of the Book, and Jesus wins.

Well maybe someone else will chime in and banter with me if there's no hope of salvaging productive discourse with you. I believe that religion and spirituality is a personal thing and open for interpretation. You obviously do not. That's fine! But unless you're willing to debate God why would you waste your time here in the first place. Some people yell and scream but my truest intention is to learn and benefit from our interactions. Not get all upset and cry about it like some people . . . cough cough. I intend to benefit from this so if you don't wanna debate what you preach then please, preach somewhere else.

well if you really think all religion is getting to one GOD then yes but think about this Islam percieves jesus christ as Only a prophet like mohammed and well they dont believe he is the son of GOD now that is HUGE!! For the Bible to state he is the Son of God but the Quoran says otherwise? well in essence religion is only excuses to do things or not to do things for what is taught from their parents. So if you believe then you shall find it in your heart that thier is only one true savior that died for you and I and that is Jesus christ God's Only Son.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in no means, angry, upset, or anything of that nature. I'm just trying to refocuse you on what is important. Your soul. You already admitted that you believe Jesus is a real person that lived. How can you reconcile his life, death and resurrection and not believe that he was truely who he said he was, God?

I wasn't referring to you. Someone else was having a temper tantrum.

I may have referred to him as someone who did live for the sake of argument but I also suggested I was unsure.

I am not saying he was not God.

I believe that Jesus, as a metaphor or a real person is indeed God.

I ALSO believe that you and I are God. Humans and God are one and the same. Life, if you make it so, is about realizing how you or I are God, and then accepting the responsibilities that come with that realization. I believe this is what Jesus accomplished and through that accomplishment he set an extraordinary example of what man and woman CAN be!

I think that's pretty beautiful.

Can you heal the sick? Can you feed 5000 with 3 loaves of bread and 5 fish? Can you raise the dead? Can you die and raise yourself from the dead? Do any of these and then I think you may be able to call yourself God. It is true that those who believe in Jesus have the Holy Spirit living in them, and God is always with us, but we aren't God, there is only one of those and He created us.

Naturally I believe Jesus lived and died and rose on the third day. The Jews and Muslims believe Jesus lived, and Jesus is in the Koran. There is good historical evidence that Jesus is real. Don't let Satan fool you like he did Eve when he said when you eat of the apple you will become like God. We aren't and I'm happy and content without the responsibility that comes with His Job.
