to Fix Welfare

This was in the Waco Tribune Herald in Waco , TX on 11/18/10

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for

Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans,

blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want

steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women

Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test

recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and

piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get

tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks?

You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your

"home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be

inventoried.. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your

own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or

you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of

trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We

will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo

and speakers and put that money toward the "common good."

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of

the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before

you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem,"

consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for

doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least

attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system

rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

Alfred W. Evans, Gatesville , TX

AND while you are on Government subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes,

that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will

voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Government

welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

**** you have got my damn VOTE "Mr. President". That in short is the best damn plan i have heard regarding this topic! EXCELLENT POST AND POINTS MADE! MAKE IT HAPPEN! Peace. +1

On a serious note though. I feel so sorry for some people who have fallen on hard times, god knows life can be rough, my only gripe is that these people are not Retrained in a new career to return to the job market. I say put a limit of 2yrs on it, then provide child care free as well as vocational or college training. A productive citizen's self esteem goes way up when they know that they can contribute to society in most cases. So I guess what I am saying is offer them these services conditionally meaning they agree or get no help. Peace.

I have been poor and I have been upper middle class.

The latter is much better, however there are side effects to medical procedures so making women get implants or surgery is not a good plan and there are ethical concerns.

Teach them to stop having sex with losers!!!!!

I do agree with the rest, except there are nice families and people who would be treated very badly when they already feel bad for having hard times.

corporate welfare is also a problem--- *clear my throat*

the state where i live started a program like that. after a certain amount of time collecting welfare they have to get in a training program and seek employment. if they don't they will get dropped from welfare. problem is there's always a way around the system somehow.

Some people who have been maimed one way or the other or who have been sick all of their life wouldnt qualify for going to work. Help them out. When we start to look at all the gov cheating then we should do something about that first also. Look at the money that would be saved. Tell ALL politians that your vote counts and the have referendem every 6 months and if the country says no then it is no the same goes for the yes vote. There is alot of changing we have to do. Things are changing now for the worse but that is good because then we will see what is good. Vern

I'm stunned in your recent posts and what appears to be an "American Doom and Gloom" pattern. Relax man we will pull through this and we will fix these issues and as Americans we will pay back our debt and still be the worlds leading power when this is all said and done. Talk about the Dinar man, your news is nothing new to any of us in America and as such we do not need to be constantly reminded by a foreign country just how bad our finances our everyday. America is strong and we will fix this and be done with it, this one will however take some time and a few bumps in the road to fix. Peace.

I'll step in!

Get a life!

I was thinking I would put a link to the "Squeal like a pig" scene. I don't think it would have been that well received so I held back. Great movie btw!

I love the Ultra Liberals! Have you actually seen how people on welfare live? If they are taking tax dollars should they be allowed to sell their food stamps to buy alcohol and drugs? Those on full subsidy have no incentive to try and better themselves and this is a sad state of affairs.

most have housing paid for and they have no idea that it is someones else's property and they usually trash it. How do I know? I am a landlord and have seen the lack of respect for someone else's property.

Is everyone like that? No. I have seen the abuse of the system many more times than not.

If you had to directly give these poor people the money and you saw them buying drugs and flat screen TV's while ignoring their children and their needs I am certain you might question how they were spending it.

The tax money used to fund the welfare programs was once your money!

The latter is much better, however there are side effects to medical procedures so making women get implants or surgery is not a good plan and there are ethical concerns.

OK, please set up that program and let me know how it goes for you. Like you can control who has sex with who. We may as well make them have to get a parent's licence from a government sponsored class or give their child up for adoption. LOL

There was a report on local news last night where people are using food stamps in resort areas in Hawaii and other locations--sounds like they are really struggling to get by. I want to go to Hawaii--oh wait, I don't get food stamps!

Colonel David Crockett - Not Yours to Give

One day in the House of Representatives a bill was taken up appropriating money for the benefit of a widow of a distinguished naval officer. Several beautiful speeches had been made in its support. The Speaker was just about to put the question when Crockett arose:

"Mr. Speaker--I have as much respect for the memory of the deceased, and as much sympathy for the sufferings of the living, if suffering there be, as any man in this House, but we must not permit our respect for the dead or our sympathy for a part of the living to lead us into an act of injustice to the balance of the living. I will not go into an argument to prove that Congress has not the power to appropriate this money as an act of charity. Every member upon this floor knows it. We have the right, as individuals, to give away as much of our own money as we please in charity; but as members of Congress we have no right so to appropriate a dollar of the public money. Some eloquent appeals have been made to us upon the ground that it is a debt due the deceased. Mr. Speaker, the deceased lived long after the close of the war; he was in office to the day of his death, and I have never heard that the government was in arrears to him.

"Every man in this House knows it is not a debt. We cannot, without the grossest corruption, appropriate this money as the payment of a debt. We have not the semblance of authority to appropriate it as charity. Mr. Speaker, I have said we have the right to give as much money of our own as we please. I am the poorest man on this floor. I cannot vote for this bill, but I will give one week's pay to the object, and if every member of Congress will do the same, it will amount to more than the bill asks."

He took his seat. Nobody replied. The bill was put upon its passage, and, instead of passing unanimously, as was generally supposed, and as, no doubt, it would, but for that speech, it received but few votes, and, of course, was lost.

For all my Liberal friends. How does this make you feel? Our local news just did a 6 mo investigation and these poor underprivileged folks were accessing their welfare funds in Las Vegas and using them to gamble! What say you now??!!

It has been said -that If you want to bring a country down have them all on welfare. Now that was a teaching during the 60,s . People studied it. I dont know where the link is -I had checked it out awhile ago and came across some of it on you tube and read it elsewhere. Now i didnt need it and now here it is again. Wish i had it. But it is true. Also the analogy on how to catch a pig is the same way you trap people into relying on the system. I believe if you make people work for their food and no social help people will step up to the plate. We have become lazy and our system has taught us this. The ones who say no welfare are the ones who get pushed aside until it comes to the forfront and people are crying when the bank has no-more food- Grow a garden and get with the program. Farmers do it all the time. I would work for a farmer why? you never go hungry. Vern

I agree Vern make the people dependent on the government and you have either socialism or communism. I fear we are close to 1/2 way there.
