Mr. Phonics
"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problems; government is the problem"Ronald Reagan, 1981 Inaugural Address Many politicians in Washington should take President Reagan's advice. mrref
A very powerful statement. I loved that President. He didn't hold back any punches he called then like he sees them.

I have question, what does "registered and approved" mean under your name? I have not been on in awhile and a few things have changed.

praxis
and after that famous quote he started to deregulate wall st. and bankers opening the floodgates further to allow the crisis we are dealing with now! Great rhetoric? Yes? Great in practice? Yes, to a point! You still need people and government as watchdogs against monopolies and exploitation. In order to do that you need to make sure politicians can't be bought by these huge interests and that we the people hold them all accountable. No, I am not blaming Reagon for the economic crisis, so don't come at me like that. Our govt before and after him bear responsibility as well, but people unjustly act like Reagon was so great when he had a lot of blunders too. He was the great communicator in some ways, but nothing more than a figurehead in others. Rhetoric doesnt always equal good policy. If you think a 100% free market is going to fix this mess, then you need to study up on history! Government getting out of the way economically only made the situation alot worse a lot faster! My "scale" is always going to tilt a little away from government, though, I do believe the Federal government needs to get out of the way. Most issues should be left up to the states. That is how our constitution is written, a limited federal government and more "rights" for the states.
