Iraqi Parliament voted in its Thursday’s session to consider Halabja’s incident as a genocide.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki did not submit security ministers names to Parliament in today’s session due to rows among the National Alliance over the position of Interior Minister, member of parliamentary defense and security committee Shiwan Mohammed Taha said.

Maliki is keen on naming Daawa Party senior official Adnan Al Asadi as Security Minister while the national coalition is claiming the position for head of the National Congress Party Ahmad Al Shalabi, Taha told Alsumaria News.

And another, the word indefinitely worries more than any.

Baghdad - Top appointments at Iraqi's key defence, interior and national security ministries have been postponed indefinitely, Iraq's parliamentary speaker said Wednesday.

"We are facing a dilemma and feeling frustrated that the government is delaying," said parliament speaker Osama al-Nujaifi. He called it "illogical" that Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki continues to run the three security portfolios.

Al-Nujaifi, who stopped short of giving a time frame for when parliament would vote on candidates for the posts, blamed the delay on disputes among the various political parties.

Parliament was supposed to vote on candidates for the security posts nearly two weeks ago.

"The prime minister should submit names as quickly as possible to parliament to vote on the nominations," said al-Nujaifi.

In December, Iraqi politicians ended a 10-month political stalemate, approving 70 per cent of the 42-member cabinet.

They probably have legitimate reasons for the delay. Tribal warfare seems to be their specialty.

Maybe it's all for the better in the long run. Instead of voting in just any loser like they do in the USA, they might be actually trying to select the best ones for the jobs.

On the other hand they could be trying to get as much power for themselves as possible.

I'm with you on that Mort. It's a guessing game. Ok what should I believe today. I'm always leaning tonwards the good news or posts but always ready to accept the bad. It's simply a waiting game and all we can do is wait for the final seating of GOI. IMHO God Bless Semper Fi
