Hello all, I have never posted something like this before but I felt it time I would like to share just a few things going on in Iraq and my opinion on the RV... Please if you are a basher and you know who you are... if you don't got anything nice to say just don't say anything or hit red or green buttons... if you have a valid opinion and it is backed up by a logical thought or you just want to say something nice then you are more than welcome... please after reading rate it by hitting the stars in the upper right corner and by clicking the Green or Red "Venting" buttons in the bottom right corner...biggrin.gif

Goings on in Iraq as of 2/8/11:

Baghdad:

#1: Iraqi Defense Ministry officer Major General Dr. Ihsan Ali was killed in a blast due to a bomb planted at his house’s door in Al Ghazaliya region. His car was set ablaze and his house was damaged in the bombing, Alsumaria News reported.

The security source also said that another IED blew off in the same venue of the attack, after the arrival of Army and police forces to the area, wounding two soldiers, a policeman and a civilian.

#2: Gunmen raided a house in Al Moushahada region, northern Baghdad, on Tuesday and forced the owner and his son to go outside where they opened fire on them and killed them on the spot.

#3: In another incident, the same source said that "two Katyusha rockets fell in Baghdad's Tigris River, in front of the Green Zone," giving no further details.

Note: Kinda makes you wonder what is going to happen when they RV if they don't have any security to protect things like this from happening what are they going to do when people are flooding the banks to cash in what they do have...

Diyala Prv:

#1: A roadside bomb exploded near the offices of the Iraqiya political coalition, wounding two security guards and a civilian, in Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) northeast of Baghdad, police said.

Iskandariya:

#1: A police officer and a woman were killed in two improvised explosive device (IED) blasts in Babel on Monday, a local security source said. “Two IEDs went off near an Iraqi police patrol on the main street in al-Iskandariya district, (50 km) northern al-Hilla city, leaving a police officer in the rank of captain killed after his vehicle was destroyed,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The blasts also left a woman who happened to be near the attack scene killed,” he added.

These are just a few things I found while surfing the internet I am sure there are more things that are happening we don't know about... last week we heard of kidnappings. What kind of society that is wanting to be a part of a free and global market, attempting to change the world as we know it by making their currency worth more than the Euro and close to the KWD but can't stop their Defense Ministry Officer from getting blown up...?

In My opinion Iraq has come a long way from where they where even a few months ago but the more news I read it seems like we might be in this a lot longer than some of us expected...

Sorry not something people want to hear heck I don't even want to hear it but facts are facts... look, countries are built like sky scrapers and those of you in the big cities know how long it takes those people to put the foundation in the ground before they even start on the stinking thing... now I do agree that RVing the money is part of the foundation but it isn't the whole thing they have just finished the hole to put the concrete in and with the GOI and the Budget not being "Official" there are a whole lot of the pieces to the foundation not even in place yet...

IMHO, I think once the GOI and the Budget become "Official" and the real RV ball starts rolling it will be like sledding down a hill start off slow, then as natural resources come more and more into play it will get faster...

Dear Friends, I feel that the RV will be gradual because their is so much at stake... now like most of you I would love to wake up tomorrow and see an $8 RV but I would also love to see them get something right for a change and if that means they come out at .10 and it goes up from there than so be it there are a lot of families over there that need this thing to work right for once so they don't end up back in poverty because the GOI failed. This isn't all about us it is about them too they need this more than we ever will.

In closing, I hope all of your dreams come true when this amazing opportunity comes to fruition but, please keep your feet firmly on the ground and your loved ones close to your heart because no amount of money can make you truly happy or make someone truly love yousmile.gif

In Cleveland, two members of a street gand were killed after leaving the EZ Street nightclub........

In Youngstown, a frat party turned into bedlam as two men opened fire on the partiers, killing one and wounding nine.......

In St. Louis, a family of four were found murdered in a suspected drug deal gone bad.......

In Atlanta, the body of a young coed was found after a week long search.....

In Tuscon, a gunmen opened fire at a public rally, killing six, including a federal judge, and wounding Representative Gabriel Giffords and 14 others....

Need I go on?

Does the violence slow down the RV, or does the RV slow down the violence?

I contend that the RV eventually gets the citizens much needed food, utilities, services and most importantly, jobs (dignity). Luckily, Iraq has oil, which gives their people a fighting chance, a jumpstart in building a future. Once they are employed and productive, either the subsidies can wane, or they can pay taxes, thus sustaining and defending themselves.

I say the RV stars the engine, as fast as turning the key. This ain't no push start. Whether they get up to speed sooner or later depends on their leaders and their neighbors. This whole "RV" thing isn't about us.

Once they get that Ford Escort going, they can drive down to the dealer and trade it in for a Porsche.

Not bashin' ya, just see it differently. Peace.

FnB, I was just going to point out that we (America) has the same if not worse violence happening on our streets everyday. And we survive. I will have to side with you on this point of view. Although Soldiering does have a good thought out line of thinking, compared to America and what all goes on here everyday, I have to say that I think the RV will slow the violence down.

When people are in dire need, it becomes easier to rationalize your actions in your head than when you have plenty. Most people would think twice about resorting to violence when it may jeopardize their plentiful life style. We as Americans will fight to protect our life style but that is why we have the armed forces. Even the radicals extremists say that it is harder to recruit people when they have a lot to lose! That's why they go to these 3rd world countries to recruit people.

And no I do not have a link to prove my thoughts.... JMHO.

We had some schmuck here in Ohio claim he had staked out this house last month for a robbery. Went in when he thought everyone was gone. Got surprised by the owners. He ended up killing 3 people, one was an 11 year old boy. Hacked them up, put them in trash bags and took them out in the woods and hid them in a hollowed out tree. Oh, and he kidnapped a 13 year old girl, sexually assaulted her before he was caught. Caught on tape at Walmart using his tradable USD to pay for the trash bags. I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. The evil in society will have no bearing on the RV. Unless of course that evil is Maliki.

Authorities have made an arrest in a weekend convenience store robbery that a Seattle store owner found remarkable for the robber's politeness.

Sgt. John Urquhart, of the King County Sheriff's Office, says officers quickly identified a suspect from tips received after surveillance video of Saturday's robbery "went viral."

The man is seen in the video telling White Center Shell station owner John Henry: "I'm robbing you, sir."

He takes $300, apologizing and saying he has bills to pay and children to feed. If he ever gets back on his feet, he tells Henry, he'll pay the money back.

Urquhart did not identify the 65-year-old man arrested Monday at a residence near the robbery site. The suspect has convictions for armed robbery and forgery.

Planting IED's or becoming a human bomb.... what kind of people agree to blow themselves up? I say desperate & poor. With families to feed. The terriorist are paying these poor people $100 USD to blow themselves up! The money goes to their families for food & water. I think all this stops once the RV happens and these same people find that their Dinars are now worth 3 times more. The RV would put the terriorist out of business. The world becomes a better place.

I think the iraqi people should protest in the streets to have the GOI make their money WORTH something on the world market! Iraq only has to find a way to prevent terriorist from cashing in on the RV

Well done, American cities are just as bad in some places as Iraq.

Sorry Guys just woke up, I was just getting off a 24 hr guard shift when I posted this LOL, looks like I didn't make the point I was trying to make at all... the point was suppose to be about the building up of Iraq... sorry about adding the other stuff goes to show you what is really on your mind when you are tired. I had just gotten off a FaceBook chat with a good friend of mine in Iraq and he was telling me some of the stuff that has been going on over there... forgot to ask about the stages being built rumor sorry guyssad.gif... but he was telling me about how it seems to have gotten a lot more violent there these past three weeks or so and how he can't see anything positive happening when he is driving by blown up cars and kids begging for stuff in the streets... he is Infantry like me, always looking at the worst and praying for the best. That is what really prompted the first of this post I guess sorry if it seemed to have lost some people.

I truly hope that the RV is soon and I would love for it to show up over night but I would have to disagree with Gut a lot of these people who blow themselves up or plant bombs just do it because they think it is the right thing to do and hope to be rewarded in "Heaven" for it... but he is right some do it to help their families and that is a sad fact and for their sakes I pray every night that the RV would happen so they wouldn't have to be put in those situations...

Love Ya'll a bunch and I truly do apologize if I offended anyone. Have a great day I am under about 5 inches of snow in some places here on Ft. Riley. I truly do thank each and everyone who posted you all gave great comments, in the future I promise to go to bed before posting LOLbiggrin.gif... stay safe

In Salvador, Brazil big city ( 3M) but not incredibly huge, it's not uncommon esp.during weekends in less than 48 hours to reach the number of 20-25-30 murdered folks...In less than 48 hrs

Rio de Janeiro (6M people) has 6 thousand murders a year. 500 a month every month

All of Brazil (190M) has about 50,000 murders a year every year. Like a small town disappearing each year......

Exactly what needs to improve before they can just let this RV fly.......stabilization also plays a part in a countries currencies value.......

I have always considered the American people to be very comptetitive.

Nice to know I was right.

Now you guys are competing to show you are just as violent and kill-crazy as the middle eastern extremists.

In small part I find that funny.

In the long haul I find it sad that any country should be singled out as violent ... war in the streets kind of thing. Frightening. I would say, what is the world coming to? ... but it seems pretty obvious.

I see a HUGE difference between gang / domestic / drunken violence and terrorism. We do not tolerate terrorism in America and neither should Iraq imo.

I think that the Iraqi citizens could play a huge role in stopping this type of violence. I like to think I would know if my neighbor was a terrorist.

One anonymous tip can potentially take down a whole terrorist organization for good if the Security Ministries know how to react to it. I hope that they're up to their necks in intense investigations and have detained alot of suspected terrorists over the past couple of months (or years for that matter).
