Mr. and Mrs. Internet User:

This is a most important email. It deals with the authority that Barack Obama has already given himself, via the Secretarial Order that he authorized the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to issue when it assumed control of the Internet on December 21, 2010. Inserted into the FCC regulations is a "kill-switch" that will let Mr. Obama shut down the Internet---and immediately make your First Amendment free speech rights disappear---should the White House feel that a threat exists on the information superhighway.

You are watching it happen, RIGHT NOW, in Egypt. It was "test-driven" in Australia on September 2, 2009, when that nation enacted its own cybersecurity law. And, with the FCC poised as the caretaker of the onramps to the information superhighway, it can now happen here in the United States as well.

We need to KILL the "kill-switch" powers that Mr. Obama has given to the FCC to give to him.

Thank you,

sig_garykreep.jpg Fellow American Patriot,

If you're like me, you've been glued to your television and have watched what's going on in Egypt and the Middle East. It's mind-boggling. The demonstrations in Egypt started over high unemployment and a lack of jobs, but spread quickly to encompass the lack of free speech, the lack of honest elections, and police brutality. The protests, organized via the Internet, Facebook and other social communication networks were planned to be a one day protest. The Egyptian government's attempt to silence the people expanded the protest into a melee that caught the eye of the world.

Over-reacting, the Egyptian government triggered the "kill-switch," and shut down access to the Internet by all of its citizens. You might say: "Well, that could never happen here in the United States. We have a Constitution. We have free speech." Granted, Egypt doesn't. Or, rather, it has "free speech" based on the United Nation's International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which means that they possess only those rights allowed by government, as long as government allows them. Free speech rights in the rest of the world are privileges that a government can withdraw at will.

But, make no mistake about it: What happened in Egypt can happen here. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's government enacted a law that gave him the right, in times of a "national emergency," to exercise the "kill-switch" and and shut down the Internet. Barack Obama authorized the FCC to give him that authority---not Congress, mind you, his own underling, gave him the authority to shut down the Internet if the White House perceives there to be a national emergency.

The main components of U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller's Cyber-Security Act of 2009 (which failed to get out of a Senate Committee) were adopted by the current FCC (by a vote of 3-2) when, on December 21, 2010, Mr. Obama's guidelines were voted on for implementation. One of them was the power for the Commander-in-Chief to use the "Internet Killswitch" in the event of a national emergency.

Geeze don't know why anyone would give you a minus for that I tried to even it up.

People shouldn't bury their head in the sand about this stuff. It can happen here and people need to be aware of it. Better to be open minded about it and not be blindsided by what could happen. Not only for yourself but for your family as well.

Egypt is half the size of Alaska. Something like 300,000 square miles. 90% of their land is desert. that means that their population is condensed to only 10% of their country. Pretty damn easy to shut off the internet.

The internet in the US has 100's of servers providing access to the masses. Most of these servers are owned by private individuals and/or corporations. Not going to say it can't happen but I highly doubt it.

Don't believe me...just ask Al Gore! :P
