Baghdad - INA - 9/06/2026

Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi hosted on Saturday evening the 38th regular meeting of the State Administration Coalition at the Government Palace, attended by the heads of the presidencies, where a number of economic, political and legislative issues were discussed.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi hosted on Saturday evening the 38th regular meeting of the State Administration Coalition at the Government Palace, where a number of economic, political and legislative issues were discussed.”

It added that “the coalition discussed the economic, financial and investment situation, the new cities project, and the project to distribute one million residential plots of land, as well as the importance of proceeding with measures that contribute to supporting investment and addressing the housing crisis.”

The statement added that the prime minister announced that he had directed the suspension of demolitions of unauthorized structures until the one million residential plots of land are distributed to eligible recipients.

He continued: “The coalition also discussed the government’s measures to combat corruption and institutional reform, the draft law on the Federal Internal Oversight Commission, as well as important legislation needed by the government to implement its programs. While the prime minister announced the continuation of the policy of combating corruption, the participants affirmed their continued support for the anti-corruption campaign, the pursuit of corrupt individuals, and the measures taken by the judiciary in this regard in accordance with the law.”

On the political front, the coalition discussed, according to the statement, developments in the domestic situation and regional and international circumstances, stressing the importance of unifying the national position and preserving Iraq’s stability, sovereignty and supreme interests.

The coalition stressed the need to shield Iraq from the repercussions of U.S. sanctions imposed on some countries, noting that Iraq is going through difficult financial circumstances that cannot tolerate taking risks. It also affirmed the continuation of coordination among its components and support for state institutions in confronting the current challenges.

On the issue of completing the government formation, the statement said that “the meeting saw an agreement to begin dialogue with the eligible blocs during the coming week. The participants also renewed their adoption and support for the state’s clear approach of rejecting sectarian rhetoric and supporting social peace in accordance with the principles of the Constitution.”

It added that “during the meeting, emphasis was placed on discussing the draft Oil and Gas Law in preparation for sending it to the Council of Representatives, as well as on supporting the private sector as an important partner in development.” (finally the HCL)

The prime minister also announced during the meeting that a new financial payment to settle the dues of farmers and contractors would be released soon.
