CENTCOM completes wave of strikes on Iranian targets

US forces completed a new wave of strikes on Iranian military targets on September 1, hitting air defenses, radar systems and maritime assets, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.

 

The strikes also targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) facilities, mine-laying capabilities and communications sites. The command linked the operation to what it said were recent IRGC attempts to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and US service members.

 

More than 50,000 US troops are currently operating across the Middle East and remain prepared for further operations, according to CENTCOM.

TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces successfully completed a wave of strikes against Iranian military targets Sept. 1.

U.S. forces struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets including air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine laying capabilities, and communications sites.

The strikes follow recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members.

More than 50,000 U.S. service members are currently operating across the Middle East and remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to continue executing operations directed by the Commander in Chief.

Earlier, Iran said it launched ballistic missiles at a US military base in Jordan and drone strikes on US positions at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. Jordan’s military said it intercepted 10 of 13 ballistic missiles, with the remaining three falling without causing casualties. Kuwait’s military stated its air defenses were engaging drones and that explosions heard across the country resulted from interception operations.

      US Central Command: We completed strikes targeting Revolutionary Guard sites in Iran

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early Wednesday (gulf time)  that it had completed a wave of airstrikes targeting Iranian Revolutionary Guard military targets, confirming that the operations were carried out successfully.

 

The command said in a statement that the strikes targeted air defense sites and radar systems, as well as naval assets and facilities, mine-laying capabilities, and communications sites belonging to the Revolutionary Guard.

 

She added that these strikes came in response to recent offensive attempts by the Revolutionary Guard against shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American military personnel deployed in the region.

 

The Central Command confirmed that more than 50,000 US armed forces personnel are currently deployed throughout the Middle East, as part of ongoing military operations and to enhance the security of US forces and interests in the region.

US President Donald Trump warned that Iran would be hit "at a much harder and higher level" if it retaliates against the latest US strikes near the Strait of Hormuz, as US forces launched a fresh wave of strikes on Iranian targets around the strategic waterway.

 

Trump said the strikes were retaliation for what he called a failed Iranian attempt to lay sea mines in the strait and for an Iranian missile attack on a US military base in Jordan. He claimed the mines had been "completely removed or detonated" and warned of an even larger attack held "in the wings," saying that when it was over "there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

The United States is, as we speak, striking Iranian Targets near the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes are large and powerful, and in retaliation for the Iranians’ failed attempt at adding sea mines to the Strait, which currently has no mines (They have been completely removed or detonated!), and the Iranians shooting eight missiles, all successfully knocked down, at our Military Base in Jordan. If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but it will not be the biggest attack of them all, that is waiting in the wings and, when it is over, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran! Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff and the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which oversees the country’s air defenses, said Iranian forces would deliver “crushing blows” in response to the US attack, adding that the longer the US military remained active in the region, the greater its losses would be. 

 

Revolutionary Guard spokesperson Brig. Gen. Hossein Mohebbi said “harsh punishment” awaited the attackers and that Washington would regret the new strikes.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday that it had launched strikes against targets belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) inside Iran.

 

In a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Central Command said, "We have begun launching strikes against targets belonging to the IRGC inside Iran."

 

"The strikes on Iran come after recent IRGC attacks targeting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM.

 

"The strikes also come after IRGC attacks targeting US military personnel in the region," It continued.
