Military service and combat He is a decorated combat veteran who spent over 30 years as a Navy SEAL. He was selected to command twice as a Navy Captain and twice as a Navy Commander. As a Navy Captain, he was rated as the number one SEAL Commodore. He served as an Officer-in-Charge three times. His military awards include three Bronze Stars, two Presidential Unit Citations, and multiple Combat Action ribbons. He is one of the few SEAL Officers to also become a qualified Army Ranger. Post-military career and community involvement After retiring, Gallrein assumed the role of President of the Mid-South Chapter of the UDT-SEAL Association. He started an annual Navy SEAL Family Picnic and fundraiser in Kentucky to bring veterans together and raise money for SEAL veterans, widows, orphans, and the wounded. He serves as an Ambassador for the SEAL Veterans Foundation. He has appeared on podcasts to discuss his experience leading SEALs and his thoughts on national security issues.
