JonnyV
You are right. I only use it once in a while but not on fresh or good cuts of meat. If it’s at the end of its shelf life, I dump it on. LOL Edited March 4 by JonnyV

This reminded me of a story my brother shared on a cross-county drive to come visit us a while back. He had a strong hankering for a good steak so he pulled into suitable looking steak house and in a conversation with the server he asked if the beef was aged, to which the server replied, "Oh no sir, all of our beef is fresh!" OK....now you can have the thread back....LOL Edited March 4 by DinarDavo
Theseus
5 hours ago, cutter73 said: @Theseus don't need A1 if cooked right...😉😁 If you must know, steak sauce was an invention of a NY restaurant to put on side items not steak. I put A1 on my baked potato with sour cream butter and chives. It is a misnomer, and a misnamed, that steak sauce was for the steak itself. Chefs all around the world have stated that its a myth that just because an individual asks for steak sauce to put on their steak is any testament to the way the steak was cooked by that chef. Steak sauce bled over from being placed onto the side items that it enhanced the flavor of the steak that people began to place it on their steak. During the time period steak sauce was invented steaks weren't cooked with all the spices and whatnots that are added to the steaks today. For example I only use kosher salt and garlic to season my steaks othat I make on the stove or on the grill. I do this knowing people will ask for A1 or some other steak sauce to put on their steak. A chef needs to cater to the eater and not be so egotistical that they take offense on how someone prefers their meal. Some chefs will also claim that you should never put salt and pepper on your food once served. Whether we agree or not, a person's individual tastes should dictate how they eat their food. And sending someone home because they asked for A1 sauce is not how I would have treated a guest. I would have just sorry I don't have it and left it at that. By the way I have cooked steak for over 20 years alwaysmade to order and always to great praise of the person eating the steak. Not once have I sent someone away because they offended me by asking for steak sauce. 1

keylime
I rub my steak with A1 and let it sit for a few hours or overnight. A1 is the BEST! I personally don't like a steak without it. Even steaks at a great steak restaurant. When I see on the menu the steak is with any kind of reduction sauce I ask them to just cook the steak, leave out the sauce, and bring me A1. I put it on burgers as well. Also, I don't care for Heinz 57. I am strictly A1...

He was just being an a$$ in general... so I think it was for the best to send him on his way before he ruined fishing. I even went to the creek and caught minnow that day. So I didn't want him to spoil my evening😁. I marinade my steaks in something like that. I just chalked it up to baaad date. But funny to remember... 1
JonnyV
Love what this thread has morphed into. If anyone had tried Peter Lugars. It’s A1, Ketchup & Horseradish mixture. Not too bad if used on the side. 😋 Edited March 4 by JonnyV

If you think the largest agency in the Federal Government is the IRS you would be wrong. The largest Agency in the Federal Government, according to OPM, is the Veteran's Administration with over 300K employees. As of September 2013, Department of Veteran Affairs has 337,683 (16.3%) federal employees in pay status; Department of Army has 261,029 (12.6%) federal employees; Department of Navy has 194,301 (9.4%) federal employees; Department of Homeland Security has 193,867 (9.4%) federal employees; and Department of Air Force has 167,439 (8.1%) federal employees. NOTE: I disagree with OPM because the Veteran's Administration is NOT a Federal Government Agency. It operates just like the United States Post Office and the Federal Reserve.
