A statement issued by the Sudanese media office stated that the latter reviewed the measures taken by the competent committee within the efforts to end the ban and its requirements, and in the field of developing the work of the airline company and automating all its joints, as well as in the field of repairing and maintaining aircraft, and continuing efforts to develop the capabilities of the company’s cadres and facilities, and upgrading The level of services provided to passengers, commensurate with the status and role of airlines, as a civilized interface for Iraq. He stressed the need to fulfill the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as quickly as possible, and keep pace with global development in the field of air transport for passengers and goods, as well as working according to specific time frames to set and achieve targets. Al-Sudani stressed that lifting the ban on Iraqi Airlines is one of the issues that receives great attention from the government, and it is a file that cannot be tolerated. He stated that legal measures will be taken against those who are negligent in meeting the requirements and following up on this file. In June 2023, the former Minister of Transport and member of the current Iraqi Parliament, Amer Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, announced the extension of the air ban on Iraqi civil aviation in European airspace. Abdul Jabbar said in a statement at the time, that the European Aviation Authority Agency (EASA) issued an extension of the ban on the Iraqi Airways Company. The air ban on the Iraqi Airlines company in European airspace occurred since 1991, after Saddam Hussein’s regime invaded the State of Kuwait and imposed international sanctions on the country as a result. Ismail said: It was not lifted until 2009, during our work in the Ministry of Transport 2008/2010. He also stated, “After we left the ministry at the end of 2010, the performance trend of this sector began to decline until it culminated in August 2015 with the re-ban again. Ismail also pointed out that since 2015, successive governments have not realized that the ban is neither a political matter nor a tribal issue, and traveling for supplication and begging is of no use, and you do not need a ruler or a fortuneteller for any luck. He continued by saying that the matter is that there are regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the European Air Navigation Safety Agency (EASA) that must be implemented. https://shafaq.com/ar/سیاسة/السوداني-رفع-الحظر-عن-الخطوط-الجوية-العراقية-من-الملفات-التي-تحظى-باهتمام-كبير 1 2 1
