Shafaq News / The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, and the head of the “Nabni” coalition, Hadi al-Amiri, stressed on Thursday the importance of accelerating the announcement and ratification of the final results of the local elections in order to speed up the formation of local governments in the Iraqi provinces.

This came during a meeting between them, according to what Al-Maliki’s office announced in a statement, in which it was stated that the developments in the political and security situation in the country were discussed during the meeting, and what emerged from the results of the recent local elections.

The statement added that the two sides stressed the importance of accelerating the announcement and ratification of the final results of the elections in order to accelerate the formation of local governments, for the purpose of achieving the aspirations of the Iraqi people, and benefiting from the plans and projects that the federal government will implement in all governorates.

“Regarding the recent American attack on security headquarters in Wasit and Babil, both sides expressed their condemnation of these attacks, and that these attacks are a blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and the sanctity of its land,” according to the statement.
