Today, Sunday, the Federal Supreme Court decided that extending the life of the Kurdistan Regional Councils was unconstitutional.

The head of the New Generation Bloc, Sarwa Abdel Wahed, said, “Based on the lawsuit we filed, the Federal Court decided that it was unconstitutional to extend the life of the governorate councils in the region.”

She added, "These councils have been receiving salaries illegally for five years, so they must return every penny they illegally took from the people's livelihood."

She stressed, "We will not stop, and we will continue to expose the legal and constitutional violations of the parties in power in the region," adding: "The new generation won the first lawsuit against extending the life of Parliament, and this is the second lawsuit it wins. We believe in the principles of democracy and we will take all means to preserve them."
