“Our forces are in danger.” The US Secretary of Defense warns

Baghdad - Nas

Against the background of the recent resignation of the army chief, leaving the two field combat forces of the army without commanders certified by the Senate, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin warned that his country's forces are in danger.

undermining military readiness

Austin saw that the failure of the Senate to confirm the appointment of the two new commanders of the two corps disrupts the army, and could affect relations with allies and partners around the world.

He also warned that the failure to certify our top uniformed and highly qualified commanders undermines military readiness and undermines Washington's retention of some of its best officers.

He added that the United States calls for orderly and speedy transfers of appointed military leaders, saying: "Great teams need great leaders."

This came after the US Army, which is the branch of the land forces of the Armed Forces, on Friday, became the second branch of the country's forces without a leader approved by the Senate after a Republican member of the Council continued to block military nominations in a move that military leaders say threatens readiness and undermines the retention of officers.

Retired Army Chief of Staff General James McConville left the command on Friday, while the Pentagon reported that it would be the first time in history that two branches of the armed forces, the Army and the Marine Corps, would be without an authorized commander, according to Reuters.

For the first time in its history

Alabama Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville has blocked hundreds of military nominations from moving forward, saying the Pentagon is misusing government funding to cover travel costs for abortions for women in service and for women who are family members of enlisted men.

For the first time in its history, the Marine Corps has been without a Senate-approved command since early July.

And after the Supreme Court overturned last year the landmark ruling in Roe v. Wade of 1973 that recognized the constitutional right to abortion, the Pentagon announced that it would cover the travel costs of female soldiers who want an abortion and give them up to 21 days off.
