Imports are below the 1980 level

Iraq pays 16 billion dollars to foreign oil companies, with a cost rate of 20%

Baghdad - people

It is expected that Iraq will pay $16 billion to foreign companies during the current year as the cost of oil extraction if its exports reach $80 billion.

Duraid Abdullah, a researcher and expert in the field of energy, said in a statement to the official newspaper, followed by "NAS", (January 12, 2023) that Iraq's exports of crude oil during the past year amounted to one billion and 209 million barrels, with a value of 115 billion and 5 million, indicating that foreign companies About 70% of the exported oil was extracted at a rate of extraction costs that amounted to about 20% of the selling price, indicating that Iraq is required to pay the aforementioned companies extraction costs of up to 16 billion dollars during this year in the event that its exports reached 80 billion dollars.

Abdullah noted that the highest imports that Iraq received during the past year were in the months of May and June, amounting to about 11 billion and 505 million dollars.

Abdullah explained that until today the country's oil imports did not reach the level it reached in January of 1980, when Iraq exported 93% of its oil production at that time, with an amount of 98 million barrels at a price of 35 dollars and 35 cents, i.e. a monthly import of 3 Billions and 47 million dollars, indicating that by calculating the inflation of the dollar from then until 2023, it appears that Iraq’s monthly oil imports had reached 12 billion and 45 million dollars at current year prices, with the difference that the population at that time amounted to 13 million people. .
