Report: Iraqi movement to contain Iranian anger after threatening to resume bombing Kurdistan

Baghdad - Nas

The Iraqi National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, is expected to visit the Iranian capital, Tehran, in the coming days, to discuss the issue of controlling the common borders and the activity of the Iranian Kurdish opposition groups present in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, according to what was confirmed by senior Iraqi sources in Baghdad to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed. After Iranian officials threatened to bomb again targets belonging to those groups inside Iraq.

According to an official in the Iraqi National Security Adviser in the capital, Baghdad, "a broad movement is taking place by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, with the officials of the Kurdistan region, with the aim of removing Iranian groups from the borders with Iran at a sufficient distance, stopping their movements on the border with Iran, and deploying security units affiliated with the Iranian Guard." Iraqi border between the two countries.

Leaders within the "Revolutionary Guard" push for escalation again

And he indicated that leaders within the Iranian "Revolutionary Guard" are pushing for an escalation again against the activities of the Kurdish parties, and confirm the existence of laxity on the part of Baghdad in implementing its pledges to prevent the activities of these groups, including media directed in the Kurdish language to the Iranian provinces neighboring Iraq, and inciting against the Iranian regime.

The same official revealed an upcoming visit by the National Security Adviser to Tehran "in order to present the government's latest achievements in securing the borders, as well as push to maintain the calm and prevent the return of bombing again on the Iraqi border lands."

For his part, a Kurdish official in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq said that officials from Erbil will be part of the Iraqi delegation that will accompany Al-Araji.

Officials from Erbil will accompany Al-Araji on his visit to Tehran

He explained, "The Iranians are talking about the continuation of infiltration, but no evidence has been provided about that, and Iraq is continuing the process of forming an armed brigade affiliated with the border guards to complete its deployment along the borders, at a distance of up to 160 kilometers between Iraq and Iran on the side of the Kurdistan region."

And the commander of the ground forces in the "Revolutionary Guard", Muhammad Pakpour, said last Saturday: "We called on Iraq to expel the armed groups opposed to Iran stationed on its soil, and give us time for that, otherwise our attacks will continue, and an agreement was reached with the Iraqi government to disarm the terrorist groups present on and leave the lands of this country, and we are waiting for the Iraqi government to fulfill its obligations.”

Threats of Iranian leaders, a new pressure attempt

In this context, Wafaa Muhammad Karim, a leader in the "Kurdistan Democratic Party" led by Masoud Barzani, pointed out in an interview with "Al-Araby Al-Jadeed" that "the return of threats from Iranian leaders to target villages in the Kurdistan region is a new attempt to put pressure or reminders on Iraq."

He pointed out that "the Kurdish parties opposing Iran inside the Kurdistan region do not have any armed activities inside Iraq at the moment. We see that the threat is not serious because Iran does not want to embarrass the Sudanese government, and at the same time it will maintain pressure to push Iraq to take more measures against these groups."

For his part, Ali al-Fatlawi, a member of the "Coordinating Framework" coalition, told The New Arab that there is "security communication between Baghdad and Tehran regarding the issue of the Iranian Kurdish opposition groups, and so far there is an Iranian pledge to stop bombing these groups and leave Iraq to act on them."

Al-Fatlawi added, "The Sudanese government is working with the Kurdistan Regional Government to prevent the opposition parties from moving into Iran, so that there is no justification for attacking Iraqi territory."

On the other hand, Sarmad al-Bayati, a researcher on Iraqi security affairs, explained in a conversation with Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that “the areas in which the Kurdish parties opposing Iran are presently present are the rugged mountainous areas, and through them some elements may have infiltrated into the Iranian interior from Iraq. That is why it is very likely that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard will carry out new strikes against these parties during the coming period, if new infiltration is actually detected.

Al-Bayati pointed out that "this file needs lengthy negotiations between the Iranian and Iraqi sides, to resolve the crisis of the presence of Iranian Kurdish parties, but currently the Iranian Revolutionary Guard wants to deal with it militarily through strikes inside Iraqi territory under the pretext of targeting those opposition parties."

At the end of last September, the Kurdistan region was bombed with 73 missiles, in addition to drones, targeting the headquarters of the Iranian opposition parties in the region. The bombing killed 13 people and injured 58 others.

And Iranian media reported, last October, that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it had stopped its attacks after destroying the specified targets, and that their continuation would depend on the future behavior of the authorities of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, adding that “if the region takes a reasonable decision and stops the evils of the separatist groups.” And anti-Iranian, this cease-fire will continue, and if that does not happen, then the Revolutionary Guard will resume its operations.

 Baghdad: Abdul Rahman Ibrahim

ISIS terrorist gangs suffered a new loss after their hideouts or bases in the Hamrin mountain range and hills were subjected to air and security strikes, which resulted in the killing of a number of its cells hiding in that rugged area.

The air strike was preceded by an intelligence operation, which monitored the movements of terrorist cells in the Hamrin Hills in Diyala Governorate, and according to that information, the Air Force carried out a successful strike with (F16) aircraft, which resulted in the killing of a number of terrorists and the destruction of hideouts used by this terrorist group.

The security strike was also carried out in the Hamrin Mountains, but it was within the Kirkuk governorate, as detachments of the Anti-Terrorism Service carried out sudden and rapid qualitative operations, and they were able, with a tight ambush, to kill three terrorists from the terrorist ISIS gangs who were wearing explosive belts.

The Hamrin mountain range and hills extend between three provinces, namely Diyala, Salah al-Din and Kirkuk, and it is one of the areas that ISIS terrorist gangs exploit to hide due to the severity of its ruggedness.
