His Excellency the President of the Republic..

It gives me great pleasure to extend my warmest and most sincere greetings to Your Excellency and the Iraqi people, and I am very grateful for your kind message on the occasion of the Nowruz celebrations and for attending the coronation ceremony for assuming the throne of the United Kingdom at Westminster Cathedral in London earlier this month.

The United Kingdom and Iraq have a longstanding, historic bilateral friendship that is unique in the region. It is my hope that in my country's tenure, the close friendship based on the historical ties between our two countries will be built to forge modern partnerships through which we can work together to address the challenges before us all, including climate change, international security, and human rights.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Iraqi people who have endured all the suffering and pain they have endured, as they have recently suffered from the brutality of ISIS and other extremist terrorist groups.

Your efforts to support the greatly affected population is greatly appreciated, and we hope that they will have a chance to obtain meaningful justice, after they have suffered so much.

I have always been keen to work together to establish respect for and protection of freedom of religion or belief for everyone, everywhere. The United Kingdom stands by Iraq as a friend and ally in order to consolidate peace, security and the well-being of all Iraqis. I look forward to joint work between our two countries to this end.

With a great appreciation and respect

Charles III
