Iraq, US discuss cooperation on banking reform

The media office of the Ministry of Finance said, in a statement received by Alsumaria News, that "the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami Muhammad, received the US Ambassador to Baghdad, Elena Romanowski. During the meeting, they discussed various aspects of cooperation between Iraq and the United States, and ways to support the growing indicators of the Iraqi economy, and government efforts efforts in this regard.

 

He added, "Cooperation in the field of banking reform adopted by the government was emphasized, in addition to discussing the possibility of concluding long-term investment partnerships by creating stable investment environmental conditions in the Iraqi market."

man i hope the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami Muhammad explained to the US Ambassador to Baghdad, Elena Romanowski that iraq is ready to part ways with the USD and only use IQD and take it international... heres hoping

I'm hoping, too. Hoping the GOI and especially the CBI don't learn too many lessons from the US system. The three banks (so far) that have failed this year in the US had higher asset valuation than all 25 banks that failed in 2008. Our system is corrupt and failing. The powers that be are driving all small and medium sized banks into insolvency. We will be left with Jamie Dimon and friends of the "Too Big to Fail" club.

The statement added that "the meeting stressed bilateral cooperation in the field of banking reform adopted by the government, in addition to discussing the possibility of holding long-term investment partnerships by creating stable investment environment conditions in the Iraqi market."

The Iraqi Finance said, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that its Minister, Taif Sami, received today the US Ambassador to Baghdad, Elena Romanowski, indicating that during the meeting, they discussed various aspects of cooperation between Iraq and the United States, and ways to support the growing indicators of the Iraqi economy. government efforts in this regard.

 

During the meeting, according to the statement, emphasis was placed on cooperation in the field of banking reform adopted by the government, in addition to discussing the possibility of establishing long-term investment partnerships by creating stable investment environmental conditions in the Iraqi market.

 

On April 12, the US Treasury Department showed "great flexibility and willingness" to help the Central Bank of Iraq and Iraqi finance achieve stability in the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar.

 

While Iraq announced the agreement with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to hold a "non-financial" program that includes the Fund providing technical and advisory support for the economic reform adopted by the Iraqi government in achieving financial and monetary stability.
