Shafaq News/ The American "Long War Bulletin" criticized, on Friday, the participation of the US Ambassador to Baghdad, Alina Romanovsky, and the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf, in the Iraq Forum, despite the presence and participation of the leader of Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq Qais Khazali in the forum as " Keynote speaker.

The website of the American Foundation for Defense of Democracies stated, in a report translated by Shafaq News Agency, that "senior officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spoke at the same conference with Khazali, who described him as a" known terrorist, responsible for arming, training and forming the deadly militias backed by Iran that killed Hundreds of American soldiers in Iraq.

The report also indicated that "Khazali is classified by the US State Department as a "global terrorist", and his group, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, is listed as a foreign terrorist organization.

And the American report considered that "instead of boycotting the Iraq Forum conference, Romanovsky and Lev participated in it and spoke, while Khazali participated as a" keynote speaker.

The report attached pictures of Romanovsky and Lev smiling with three women, while the Iraq Forum logo appeared in the background.

The report pointed out that "the US State Department had previously confirmed that Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq claimed responsibility for more than 6,000 attacks against US and coalition forces since its establishment in 2006, including the shooting down of a British military helicopter and an attack on the Karbala governorate headquarters that led to 5 American soldiers were killed, after being captured."

The report considered that "Washington's designation of Khazali as a terrorist, in addition to his position as the leader of a terrorist group, should have at least prevented the presence of the US Ambassador and Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and speaking before the Iraq Forum."

There seems to be much misunderstanding regarding the "Reset". I read comments that lead me to believe the "Reset" is something to be eagerly anticipated and will be beneficial to all. I don't think that is quite how it will play out. The forces behind any economic reset we may encounter are the very cabal that gleefully promote the notion that in the future, you'll own nothing and be happy. Just my pessimistic observation...

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan was and still believes that the only solution to solve the problems between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad is to reach an agreement, and the assurances of the Federal Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, to send the salaries of the region's employees, whether oil exports resume or not, as a result of the agreement that was signed between the two sides, which he has always emphasized. The National Union.

President Pavel Jalal Talabani: The agreement with Baghdad is the right path
Pavel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, had confirmed during his participation in the second annual Erbil Forum on the first of March this year, that "the brothers in Baghdad are ready to agree with the region on the oil file, where as The Iraqi Prime Minister announced that Basra is a thousand times richer than the region in this aspect, and that through the agreement with Baghdad, which is a constitutional agreement, the oil file can be made transparent.

Qubad Talabani: We support the agreement between the region and Baghdad
For his part, during his participation in the Iraq Forum 2023 that was held in Baghdad a few days ago, Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, explained: "I have repeatedly declared that it does not matter who sells oil, but the concern is that we know how to sell it and where do its imports go?" Transparency in exchanges and imports, and we also announce our support for the agreement between the region and Baghdad on the oil file, as the SOMO company will be responsible for exporting Kurdistan's oil.

Al-Sudani: Securing the salaries of the region's employees is our duty
The Federal Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' Al-Sudani, confirmed during his participation in the Iraq Forum 2023: "Providing the salaries of the employees of the Kurdistan Region is the duty of the federal government, whether the region's oil is exported or not, we are responsible for providing the salaries of the region's employees." .

The Patriotic Union put the Kurdistan Region on the right path
"What is happening now between the region and Iraq is the constitutional and legal path, because we ourselves chose to be part of Iraq," Karim Shakur, a deputy in the Iraqi parliament representing the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan bloc, confirms in a statement to the official website of the Patriotic Union, PUKMEDIA.
He added, "The National Union has called repeatedly in the past to follow this right path, because it sees that way to better serve the citizens, and this fact will become clearer in the future."

Stopping the region's oil exports did not affect Iraq
In turn, Bahgat Ahmed, an expert in oil and gas management, told PUKMEDIA: "Stopping the export of the region's oil had little effect on Iraqi oil production and its oil revenues, because even if the region continued to export its oil, it was allowed to export only 160,000 barrels due to a commitment Iraq, by the decision of (OPEC Plus),” adding: “The export of the region’s oil by SOMO is a constitutional and legal procedure, and the imports and expenditures will be transparent.”

 Sulaymaniyah: Karim Al-Ansari

In the coming days, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani will be waiting to perform a rare task for the head of the federal government to mediate to bridge the views of the two Kurdish rivals, the Patriotic Union and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, to resolve the intractable political crisis in the region for months.

The request for mediation came from the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, who visited Baghdad recently and met Al-Sudani prior to his participation in the activities of the Iraq Forum in Baghdad. about Baghdad interventions. Some believe that the proximity of the forces of the coordination framework to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan may give al-Sudani a high heel in finding a way to resolve the political crisis in the region, especially since the democrat is still insisting on the date of the elections for the Parliament of the Kurdistan region without reaching an agreement on the rest of the outstanding issues, including the election of A new commission council and amending the electoral law in the region.

And the President of the region, Nechirvan Barzani, said during the activities of the Iraq Forum: "The boycott of the union ministers to the regional government does not serve the government. The president and I asked them to return to solve problems."

A member of the National Union, Burhan Sheikh Raouf, said, "The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, asked Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani to intervene to resolve differences with the Kurdistan Democratic Party."

Raouf added, in an interview with Al-Sabah, "We have not heard of any step from Al-Sudani towards working to bridge views until now, but we will welcome any initiatives and mediations to bridge views and resolve political differences."

Raouf's colleague in the Kurdistan Union, Diyar Aqrawi, said: "Barzani's call to the Sudanese to mediate means the development of problems between the two parties and the worsening of the situation," pointing out that "the presidency of the Kurdistan region can no longer solve these problems, and for this Barzani asked the Sudanese to intervene."

Aqrawi added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "the increase in these problems and the failure to resolve the existing differences between the two sides will affect the daily life of citizens in the Kurdistan region and this will negatively affect the reality in Baghdad," noting that the union "welcomes the initiatives, especially if they are from The person of the Sudanese Prime Minister.

Aqrawi added, "Several regional and international parties, including the assistant US State Department, took the initiative to mediate and sit with the two parties, and Qubad Talabani, the deputy prime minister of the regional government, welcomed any initiative to solve outstanding problems with the Democratic Party."

In turn, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Subhi al-Mandalawi, denied the existence of efforts to include the Sudanese as a mediator with the union, and he said, to "Al-Sabah", "According to my personal opinion, I do not think that we are asking any party to mediate between us and the Patriotic Union, because communication channels exist between the two parties, so we do not need to a third party to intervene.

Meanwhile, the independent politician, Shaho Amedy, saw that "the Democrat and the president of the region, Nechirvan Barzani, resorted to the mediation of the federal government to reform the affairs of the Kurdish house, an important step."

Amedi told Al-Sabah, "Finally, the Kurdish parties have realized that Baghdad is the depth of the region and that the solution is in it, and not in regional and international mediations and interventions that work according to their interests," noting that "the Sudanese will succeed in mediation with his charisma and ability to dismantle crises." With the help of the political atmosphere, the federal government wants to stabilize the situation in the region.
