Bragg Was Looking to Charge Trump with a Felony, Could Land Himself in Prison for Years Instead

As Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg tries to hang a felony charge on former President Donald Trump, leaks from the grand jury indictment against the former president could leave Bragg facing his own felony charge — if he was the source of the leak.

As noted by Newsweek, pieces of the indictment, but not the full document, have been leaked to the media, hence reports have been flying that there are 30 counts against Trump, at least one of which is a felony. Bragg is also dealing with calls from House Republicans to provide documents related to his investigation of Trump, NBC reported.

Leaking grand jury documents is a felony in New York. And that means Bragg could be in trouble, former Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz wrote in a commentary piece published Friday by the New York Sun.

“It is likely that a serious felony has been committed right under District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s nose, and he is not investigating it. Under New York law, it is a felony to leak confidential grand jury information, such as whether the jurors voted to indict. The protection of secrecy is as applicable to President Trump as it is to anyone else,” Dershowitz wrote.

It has been widely reported that New York City DA Alvin Bragg was funded by George Soros during his election. Soros funded Color of Change who then funded Bragg’s campaign.

DA Bragg Claims President Trump Made Accounting Entries in Error Years Ago – What Lunacy and Utter Nonsense.

Please remember that Mr. Trump was complaining for the past 10 years prior to him getting elected the 1st time that the IRS audited him every year. If there are "Accounting Entries in Error" the IRS was in on it:

Soros-backed and Obama/Biden connected Manhattan DA Bragg has indicted President Trump for making erroneous accounting entries years ago.  This is insane.  These have to be the most dim-witted gang of crooks in history. 

The indictment against President Trump was presented today to the public after pieces were leaked feloniously previously by the corrupt DA Bragg gang.

The indictment is simply shocking.  It’s total BS.  It’s laughable.

How could any group of goons be so dim-witted to take this case to the court and especially on the President of the US?

The gist of the case against President Trump lies in some accounting entries that were supposedly made years ago in the Trump Organization.

The corrupt Soros-backed and Obama-connected DA’s office is behind this garbage and you can bet that not one of these characters has ever posted an entry in an accounting system.

 

You can also bet money that President Trump has never posted an entry in an accounting system.  Yet, this is what they are telling us. 

President Trump didn’t come near any of these entries.  I know.  I was a corporate executive in charge of financial reporting of multi-million and billion-dollar entities.  I oversaw all the entries for that segment of a Fortune 500 company.

 

I can tell you without exception that I never consulted with the CEO of that billion-dollar organization on any accounting entries made in that segment.

Quite frankly, I never posted an entry into the system myself.  I also never saw most of the journal entries in the system.  In large corporations, there are thousands of entries every month.  You don’t know all the entries, it’s impossible.

Here is the filing with the court where the corrupt Soros-backed DA Bragg claims that President Trump “made and caused a false entry in the business records of an enterprise”.

President Trump had nothing to do with these entries in his multi-billion dollar company.  This is lunacy.

 

Corrupt Bragg claims this is a felony which it is not.  We made adjusting entries all the time when necessary.  This is an accounting adjustment at best.  And if it was a crime (a misdemeanor) it passed the statute of limitations years ago.

Prosecutors laid out a case of lies and cover-ups against Donald Trump on Tuesday over hush-money payments made to a porn star, a Playboy model and a doorman to hide potentially damaging information ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

 

Here's an explanation of the felony counts against Trump, the first former US president ever to face criminal charges, and what will happen next:

 

The charges
The indictment handed down by a Manhattan grand jury and unsealed on Tuesday charges Trump with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to a $130,000 payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Under New York law, a defendant convicted of falsifying business records can receive between one and four years in prison.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said the scheme involved Trump, his former personal attorney Michael Cohen and executives at American Media Inc, publisher of the National Enquirer tabloid.

Bragg said they were involved in what he called a "catch and kill" operation to "buy and suppress negative information to help Mr. Trump's chance of winning the election."

 

Trump was accused of arranging the payment to Daniels through Cohen just days before the November 2016 election to buy her silence about a 2006 tryst at a Lake Tahoe resort.

Trump reimbursed Cohen with checks disguised as part of a retainer agreement while "in truth, there was no retainer agreement," Bragg said,

Another payment -- $30,000 -- was made through AMI to buy the silence of a former Trump Tower doorman who was claiming, apparently falsely, that Trump fathered a child out of wedlock, Bragg said.

 

The final case involved a woman who received $150,000 from AMI in exchange for not speaking about a nearly year-long sexual relationship she allegedly had with the then-married Trump.

 

The woman was not identified by Bragg but it has been reported previously that she was Karen McDougal, a model and former Playboy playmate.

 

Cohen, who has since turned against his former boss, has acknowledged paying Daniels on Trump's behalf and was sentenced to three years in prison for the hush-money case, tax evasion and other crimes.

 

Trump has denied any wrongdoing and claims he is the victim of a political "witch hunt" by Bragg, a Democrat, intended to derail his 2024 White House campaign.

 

Next legal steps
Trump pleaded not guilty in a packed courtroom to the 34 counts, which one of his lawyers, Todd Blanche, dismissed following the hearing as "boilerplate."

"We're going to fight it, we're going to fight it hard," Blanche said.

 

The judge gave Trump's lawyers until August 8 to file motions in the case with an initial trial date in January 2024.

 

Bennett Gershman, a law professor at Pace University, said Trump is essentially accused of orchestrating a "grand scheme to undermine the democratic process."

"In other words, by covering up his salacious sexual misconduct through multiple false records... he succeeded in hiding truthful information which if it were made public would have seriously damaged his quest for the presidency."

 

Ellen Yaroshefsky, a law professor at Hofstra University, said prosecutors may be faced with "somewhat of a hurdle to prove that the false business records were with intent to influence the election."

 

One potential hurdle for prosecutors could be Cohen, Trump's former lawyer, whose credibility as a witness is certain to come under attack because he is now a convicted felon.

 

There is also a precedent of sorts.

John Edwards, who twice sought the Democratic presidential nomination, was put on trial in 2012, accused of campaign finance violations for making hush-money payments to a mistress.

The jury deadlocked and the Justice Department opted not to retry the case.

 

Other legal woes
Trump is facing legal scrutiny beyond the Big Apple.

A special counsel is looking into his role in the January 6, 2021 assault on Congress by his supporters.

Special counsel Jack Smith is also investigating a cache of classified documents retained by Trump after he left office.

 

The documents were recovered in an FBI raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida in August 2022.

A district attorney in Georgia is also investigating Trump's attempt to overturn the results of the presidential election in the southern state.
