Al-Sudani stated: Iraq's victory over the terrorist gangs of ISIS happened due to the cohesion of Iraqis and their belief in peaceful coexistence, so that Iraq today becomes the key to resolving many of the region's crises, and to play a positive role in settling regional crises."

Bull, the U.S. and NATO militaries are the reason for “victory” over ISIS. If not for them, Iraq would have the ISIS black flag flying over them. Imo.

Guterres denounces the "greed" of rich countries and energy companies: you have strangled poor countries

1602096069116.jpeg
2023-03-04 07:52

Shafaq News/ The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, criticized, on Saturday, rich countries and giant energy companies for "suffocating" poor countries with "greedy" interest rates and high fuel prices.

Guterres said at a summit of leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, ahead of the official launch scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, of the work of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries, that wealthy countries should provide $ 500 billion annually to help those "stuck in vicious circles" that impede their efforts to strengthen their economies and services. the basic.

The conference on 46 countries classified as the least developed in the world is usually held every ten years, but it has been postponed twice since 2021 due to the Covid epidemic. But two of the poorest countries in the world are not represented in Doha because their governments are not recognized by members of the United Nations, Burma and Afghanistan. Nor did any of the leaders of the major economic powers in the world attend.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations denounced the way richer countries treat poor ones. "Economic development becomes difficult when countries are resource-scarce and deeply indebted while still suffering from historical inequity and an uneven response to COVID-19," he said.

The least developed countries have long complained that they did not receive their fair share of Covid vaccines, which were concentrated in Europe and North America.

Guterres stressed that "combating a climate catastrophe that you did not cause in any way is difficult when the cost of capital is so high" and the financial assistance received is "a drop in the ocean."

"The giant fossil fuel companies are making huge profits while millions in your countries are not able to secure their own food," he added.

He noted that poorer countries were left behind in the "digital revolution" while the war in Ukraine raised food and fuel prices.

"Our global financial system was designed by rich countries, to benefit them greatly," Guterres said.

"While you are deprived of liquidity, many of you are denied access to capital markets by greedy interest rates," he added in remarks addressed to poor countries.

A number of presidents and ministers denounced the terms of financing the least developed countries, whose debts have more than quadrupled in a decade, to an estimated amount of fifty billion dollars in 2021.

In this context, the head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, said, "Sudan views the debt obstacle as an urgent issue that must be addressed in its international and global context," calling for "providing the necessary aid to Sudan at this stage in its political history."

East Timorese President Jose Ramos-Horta also said interest rates were "greedy" and "not considerate" of the countries involved.

In turn, Malawian President Lazarus Shakwera, who chairs the summit, denounced "unfulfilled pledges" by the international community. He pointed out that the aid "is not an honor or a charitable act," but rather a "moral responsibility."

Rich countries have failed to fulfill their pledge to provide 0.15 to 0.20 percent of their gross national income to less developed countries, according to Guterres.

While poor countries are stuck in a situation that "exacerbates poverty and inequality," Guterres said that the least developed countries need $500 billion "at least" annually to help them overcome their problems and build sectors that can create jobs and pay off debts.

Richer countries have pledged hundreds of billions of dollars to help poorer countries tackle climate change, something Guterres stressed the United Nations would "keep pressing" to achieve.

The proposals known as the "Doha Work Program" provide for the establishment of a system that helps countries facing a hunger crisis in light of drought and high prices.

The plan also calls for efforts to help least developed countries attract external financing and reduce interest rates to mitigate the repercussions of their debts.

It is expected that Bhutan will graduate this year "or graduate", as the expression is used, from the group of least developed countries. It will be followed by Bangladesh, Laos, Nepal, Angola, Sao Tome and Principe and the Solomon Islands by 2026.

But it will lose the privileges associated with trade and aid. Guterres said she was at risk of becoming "victims of the toughest trick (games) with support systems disappearing in front of her eyes" and would need help after her wealth rating moved up.

Bhutanese Prime Minister Lutay Tshering commented on this by noting that "graduation should be a reward, not a punishment."

Vice describes Guterres' visit to the stump as a poisoned dagger in the back of humanity

Information/Baghdad..
The head of the Yazidi bloc, Nayef Khalaf Sido, criticized today, Saturday, the visit of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, to the Al-Jadaa camp in Nineveh Governorate, considering it a poisoned dagger in the back of humanity.

In a statement, Sido said, "The information received a copy of prevention," that "there are fears for the future of the country due to the continued return of ISIS families," while holding the federal government responsible for the return of terrorists from the Syrian al-Hawl camp to al-Jada'a camp without taking precautionary measures.

He added, "It was first for the Secretary-General of the United Nations to visit the displaced people affected by ISIS and to work on reconstructing their areas instead of visiting Al-Jada'a camp."

He pointed out that "the visit of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to the Al-Jada'a camp is rejected by us and is considered an insult to the blood of the Iraqi martyrs in general, especially the Yazidi nationalism." 25 ended

This article raises a lot of questions in my mind about the UN (I’ve always had problems with the UN). It’s beyond incredulous to me that the Secretary General of the UN, Gutierres, visits an ISIS friendly camp instead of the Iraqi friendly camps for relocation issues!! Why?? Or have I misinterpreted this article??

Socialist garbage!! He was pointing at the U.S.  IMO, the “manmade” Climate Change is a tool the UN is trying to use to attempt to “level the playing field” economically among the countries. Some people , Al Gore comes to mind, have become filthy rich on pushing the Climate Change sky is falling agenda.

So true, in the 70’s, we we’re warned we were headed for an ice age. That didn’t quite work out for them, so just a few years later, less than a decade, they went to Global Warming , using flawed computer models, then to Climate Change.

In the 80’s, we were warned in 10 years, all our coastal areas were going to be under water because of melting  glaciers. We have had some melting glaciers but we’ve had thicker ice growing on other places in the Arctic.

OK, off my soapbox. Just wish we didn’t have so many people willing to believe everything they hear.

Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Migration and Displacement confirmed that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani is personally following the file of the voluntary return of the displaced and resolving their problems, while indicating the move to close 25 camps for the displaced in Kurdistan.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Immigration, Karim Al-Nouri, said, "The visit of the first person in the United Nations, represented by the person of Guterres, to Iraq, sends a message of the United Nations' interest in the issue of the displaced in Iraq and the solution to the crisis," pointing out that "this visit is consistent with the issue of the displaced and is consistent with the government program that it approved." Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani.

Al-Nouri added, "Guterres urged the countries of the world, during his visit, to withdraw their nationals from the displacement camps, since their stay affects the region and Iraq, in addition to that he urged the countries of the world to follow the example of Iraq, as it is a leading country in dealing with this crisis."

Regarding the return of the displaced, Al-Nouri stressed that "the return cannot be forced, as the problems faced by the displaced families can be solved under the Sudanese government," noting that "the Prime Minister is personally following up on the voluntary return of the displaced and resolving their problems, in addition to the presence of communication with the region Kurdistan to help the ministry close more than 25 camps.

Regarding the most prominent obstacles facing the displaced and the disbursement of financial dues, Al-Nouri said, "There are some logistical issues regarding their homes, while others are due to the security situation."

He pointed out that "the ministry began disbursing financial dues in the form of stages and reached the ninth stage of disbursing those dues, given that the numbers are large," noting that "the ministry has set criteria for disbursing those funds."

He continued, "The funds allocated by some countries to support the displaced will not reach the ministry, but remain at the disposal of international organizations," explaining that "any talk about the ministry receiving these funds is incorrect."
