THE ARREST OF 3 ACCUSED MANIPULATING THE EXCHANGE RATE OF THE DOLLAR IN BAGHDAD

Today, Wednesday, the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security announced the arrest of three suspects accused of manipulating the exchange rate of the dollar and a drug dealer in the governorates of Baghdad and Babil.

A statement by the Directorate, received by the National News Center, said, “The detachments of the Baghdad Intelligence and Security Directorate affiliated to the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security at the Ministry of Defense arrested three suspects who were selling foreign currency (dollars) contrary to the instructions of the Central Bank of Iraq and flagrante delicto.”

The statement added, "The accused were arrested on Al-Kifah Street, in coordination with the Organized Crime Control Directorate, and they were handed over to the competent authorities."

The statement indicated that, "based on intelligence information through which detachments of the Intelligence and Security Directorate of Babel, in cooperation with a joint security force, were able to overthrow a drug dealer in Babel Governorate."

And the statement continued, "where he was seized with a quantity of narcotic crystal, which was confiscated and the accused was referred to the judiciary."
