Oil Minister: We will witness an increase in the production of oil products in the coming months

Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani announced on Friday an expected increase in the production of oil products in the coming months.  

 

  

  

The ministry's media stated in a statement, a copy of which was received by NASS, (November 18, 2022), that "Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayyan Abdul Ghani, during his visit to the Central Refineries Company, said: "Developing the refining sector and increasing production are among the objectives of the government program."  

He added that "the liquidation sector is among the priorities of our work and future plans, and enjoys the attention and support of the Prime Minister."  

The statement pointed out that "the minister discussed with the company's management plans to raise the refining capacity of the Central Refineries Company to (500 thousand barrels) per day in 2026."  

The statement pointed out that the minister "disclosed the current production of the Dora refinery, which amounts to (140 thousand) barrels per day," stressing "the Ministry of Oil sought to develop the current refineries, increase production from them, and reduce the import of oil products."  

He pointed out that "the next few months will witness an increase in the production of oil products," directing "the company's management to speed up the development of a study to add new units to the refineries of "Samawa, Diwaniyah, Najaf" aimed at achieving an increase in production and providing job opportunities for the people of the provinces concerned.  


He stressed "working in accordance with the requirements of occupational safety and maintaining environmental standards and public health," praising "the efforts of workers in the refining sector and their keenness to do more despite the health, economic and political challenges and difficult conditions that Iraq witnessed during the past period."  

The statement continued, that the Director General of the Middle Refineries Company, Aideh Jaber, said: "This visit reflects the interest that the liquidation sector enjoys in the work and curriculum of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil and the government," stressing "his company's commitment to the ministry's plans to develop and increase production in order to achieve the goals and plans of the ministry."  


It should be noted that the Middle Refineries Company includes (Dora Refinery, Karbala Refinery, Najaf Refinery, Samawa Refinery, Diwaniyah Refinery).

The ministry said in a statement that "Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani, during his visit to the Central Refineries Company, stressed that the development of the refining sector and increasing production are among the objectives of the government program, and that the refining sector is among the priorities of our work and future plans, and enjoys attention and support from the Prime Minister."

The Minister of Oil directed the company's management to "expedite the development of a study to add new units to the Samawa, Diwaniyah, and Najaf refineries, aimed at achieving an increase in production and providing job opportunities for the people of the concerned governorates, stressing "working in accordance with the requirements of occupational safety and maintaining environmental standards and public health."
