RBIL — The Iraqi parliament on Saturday approved two candidates for the vacant ministries of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani’s cabinet.

In today's parliamentary session, the lawmakers passed Bangin Rekani as the minister of Reconstruction and Housing and Nizar Amedi as the Minister of Agriculture. Both Kurdish candidates received the majority vote to fill the posts.

The approval comes two days after Sudani in a letter to the presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives called for holding a session to complete the voting process of the two remaining vacant ministries of his cabinet line-up.

After more than year since Iraq held its parliamentary elections, the parliament on 13 October elected Latif Rashid as the new president of the country, who later tasked Sudani, on the same day, with forming the new government within a month.

Late October, Iraqi parliament held a session and granted vote of confidence to the new prime minister and his cabinet line-up, ending a year-long political stalemate.

However, Among Sudani's cabinet of 23 ministers only 21 ministers were approved by the assembly, the other two vacant ministries were received parliament’s confidence today.

Why?  Weren’t those the last vacant seats?

I don’t know you tell me! Anything have heard saying that those were the last vacant seats could change tomorrow when they say “oops, we have a few more seats that need to be filled.” It’s a never ending Iraq twisted government tactic to not give you or their people ALL of the information. They tell you what they want to tell you. Never means it’s truth. Been here since 2009. Never believe what you read. Garbage.

The House of Representatives voted today to grant its confidence to two banks, Abdullah Rikani as Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, and Nizar Muhammad Saeed Namidi as Minister of Environment, by an absolute majority, about a month after choosing the Sudanese government formation, with the exception of these two ministries due to the differences that took place over the two positions by the two Kurdish parties (Democratic and Patriotic Union).

Al-Maliki said, in an interview with Al-Sumaria, that "the political agreements that have been resolved, including the formation of the State Administration Alliance, contributed to the problem and complex of forming the government."

He added that "after the vote on the cabinet of the new prime minister is fully completed, the real and objective files will be raised and will represent a real test of the alliances and agreements that took place between the political blocs."

He explained, "Among these important files are the laws (oil and gas, the Federal Court, and the budget," considering that these laws "will show the extent of the strength and cohesion of political alliances."

Shafaq News / The Iraqi Council of Representatives voted, on Saturday, to grant confidence to the Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works Bankin Abdullah Rikani, and to the Minister of Environment Nizar Mohammed Saeed Amedi.

The correspondent of the Shafaq News Agency said that the Council held its session under the chairmanship of Mohammed Al-Halbousi, Speaker of Parliament, after the quorum was completed, in the presence of 208 members.

According to a statement issued by the media department of the House of Representatives, the vote was taken by an absolute majority to grant confidence to the two ministers, and thus the ministerial cabinet of the current federal government, headed by Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani, has been completed.

It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives had voted at the end of last October, on the ministerial cabinet of Sudani, with the exception of the ministries of environment and reconstruction and housing, due to the differences that took place over the two positions by the two Kurdish parties (the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan).

The political agreements that preceded the formation of the government set the Kurdish component quota for four ministries in addition to the position of the president of the republic and the second deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
