Today, Friday, the new President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, pledged to work hard to protect the constitution and the sovereignty of Iraq.

Rashid said in a brief statement, received by Alsumaria News, "I extend my heartfelt thanks to the representatives of the honorable Iraqi people and all political forces, for giving me their confidence."

He added, "I pledge to work hard to protect the constitution, the sovereignty of the country and the interests of the people, and to be the president of all Iraqis without discrimination."
 
 

Yesterday, Thursday, the House of Representatives elected Abdul Latif Rashid, President of the Republic of Iraq.

Rashid said in a tweet seen by "Dijla": "I extend my heartfelt thanks to the representatives of the honorable Iraqi people and all political forces, for giving me their confidence."

Rashid added: "I pledge to work hard to protect the constitution, the sovereignty of the country and the interests of the people, and to be the president of all Iraqis without discrimination."
