The Director of US Intelligence comments on the Iranian nuclear file

in a: In: 116 views

CIA Director William Burns said the United States has no evidence that Iran is advancing in the militarization of its nuclear program.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Burns asserted that the US spy agency "has not seen any evidence that Iran's Supreme Leader (Ali Khamenei) decided to deploy weapons."

He also reiterated what Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken said about the Iranian nuclear deal’s round of negotiations in Vienna, noting that “the Iranians are not taking negotiations seriously at this stage,” adding: “We will soon see how serious they are.”

It is worth noting that the nuclear negotiations resumed on November 29 after a suspension of nearly five months. The seventh round of talks concluded last Friday, and the United States accused Iran of violating the promises it made in the previous meeting.

Iran confirms the United States' continuous efforts to impose sanctions against their country

Iran announced, on Tuesday, that the latest US sanctions against Iranian entities will not put pressure on Washington, because these sanctions show a "lack of seriousness and honesty."

"Even during the Vienna talks, the United States cannot stop imposing sanctions on Iran," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzad said in a tweet on his Twitter account.

He pointed out that Washington cannot understand that sanctions are incompatible with achieving diplomatic breakthroughs.

He continued, "These sanctions will not put pressure on people and will not show lack of seriousness and honesty."

The US Treasury announced sanctions against 15 individuals and 4 entities in Iran, Syria and Uganda.

"Israel" threatens Iran... and America does not want surprises to explode negotiations

in a:   Views 130 views

Referring to the state of confusion and anxiety experienced by the Israeli occupation in conjunction with the launch of the seventh round of negotiations between Iran and the great powers in Vienna last Tuesday, the head of the Israeli "Mossad" service pledged to work to prevent Iran from progressing towards acquiring nuclear weapons.

Mossad chief David Barnea said, “Iran will not have a nuclear weapon, neither in the near nor in the long term,” adding: “This is the pledge of the Mossad, which, along with other security services, will do its utmost to thwart that. The threat and its removal from Israel,” according to what was reported by the official Israeli radio station Kan.

"It is clear to everyone that there is no need for anyone with 60 percent enriched uranium, no need for thousands of centrifuges, unless they intend to build a nuclear weapon," Parnia said.

He claimed that "Iran seeks to dominate the region through terrorist practices that we are working to thwart around the world," adding that "Tehran poses a constant threat to the stability of the Middle East."

On the other hand, the Israeli newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, revealed, on Friday, that Washington asked Tel Aviv “not to surprise it with the implementation of secret operations against Iran,” during the ongoing negotiations in Vienna.

The newspaper said: "The American administration has sent high-level messages to security officials in Israel opposing the Mossad (foreign intelligence) carrying out secret operations during negotiations with the Iranians on the nuclear file, so as not to sabotage the chances of success."

The US State Department confirmed, on Wednesday, that its interest is focused on returning Iran to the nuclear agreement negotiations, and not when it will return to it.

"The United States is more interested in how Iran will return to negotiations than when it will," said State Department spokesman Ned Price.

Price stressed that Iran is still refusing to engage in direct negotiations with the United States, and that time is "narrow" for nuclear negotiations with it.

"We still believe that diplomacy is the best and most viable option to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon," he said.

The US State Department indicated that it is ready to hold direct talks with Iran, stressing that it believes that a mutual return to compliance with the nuclear agreement with Iran is an achievable option.

"We hope that Iran will be ready to negotiate in good faith by building on the progress made in previous rounds," Price said.

It is noteworthy that a new round of negotiations regarding the Iranian nuclear file will be held tomorrow in Vienna, noting that the US envoy, Robert Malley, will join later.

The Iranians are stalling, hoping we will give in to their demands - rather than comply with the conditions of the agreement.  The current regime will never negotiate in good faith, and have proven this time and again.  The entire nuclear community MUST  deal with them in unison, and put necessary pressure on them.  The rest of the countries should demand that the Iranian regime negotiate with ALL members, including the USA.  They only respond to force - so unified force is required.  JMHO..!

The commander of the US army is waving military options against Iran in response to the attacks in Iraq

people - Baghdad

General Kenneth McKenzie, commander of the US Army's Central Command, emphasized the existence of a large number of "military options" to deter Iran.

McKenzie said in an interview with the Financial Times, that the United States has a "very strong set of military options," describing Iran in this context as "dangerously underestimating us if it thinks it can continue the offensive in Iraq and Syria, and at the same time continue to negotiate." (on the nuclear agreement), without any consequences... We have the ability to rapidly, very rapidly, if necessary. And I think Iran understands that fact very well."

The newspaper quoted a source as saying that in October, Pentagon representatives told White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan about military options that might prevent "Iran's production of nuclear weapons."

McKenzie stressed that diplomacy should be the "first and best way" to respond to Iran's development of weapons, adding: "I want to be clearly understood, our intent and our intent is that diplomacy directs everything. This is the best way forward, and Iran needs to be aware of that." ".

And White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said earlier that the United States was ready for "additional measures" against Iran if diplomacy did not succeed, while State Department spokesman Ned Price said that Washington believed in the possibility of restoring the nuclear agreement with Iran, but was discussing alternative solutions. with her allies.

This statement came against the backdrop of Vienna's resumption of the seventh round of negotiations on restoring the nuclear agreement, which the United States withdrew from during the presidency of Donald Trump. .

It is noteworthy that the meeting of the Joint Committee on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program was held on December 9 at the level of political directors in Vienna. This was the second official meeting of the Committee within the framework of the seventh round of negotiations.

Hoda Raouf

The failure of the seventh round of the Vienna talks, and the travel of Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz at the head of a security delegation to Washington, coincided with the announcement that Israeli and American military leaders will discuss possible military exercises to destroy Iranian nuclear facilities, in the worst possible scenario in light of the pessimistic atmosphere and preparing for the worst scenario. Will Israel support a military solution and a crushing strike that destroys Iran's nuclear infrastructure, or might it support an interim agreement with Tehran?

This announcement may be part of attempts to pressure Iran, which has been intransigent during the talks, as it submitted two drafts to revive the agreement, one of which includes Iranian perceptions regarding sanctions, and the other talks about its nuclear commitments. The reaction of the Western parties, especially Britain and Germany, was more pessimistic, and the Iranian position was described as intransigence and reaction.

But what are the real options for the United States and Israel in the event of the "worst case scenario", which is a non-deal and a halt to Iran's rush to strengthen its nuclear capabilities. The goals are the same for both Tel Aviv and Washington. Perhaps the paths will differ. While Israel sticks to the military option, the United States has other options, such as toughening sanctions. With regard to the first option, we have previously written repeatedly about Tel Aviv's role in targeting vital Iranian installations at home. On the other hand, the Israeli army is preparing for the scenario of attacking Iran's nuclear facilities.

At the beginning of 2021, IDF chief Aviv Kohavi announced that he had instructed to draw up new plans for a strike against Tehran's nuclear program. The army's budget has also been increased to prepare for such an attack as part of the recently approved national budget.

Kohavi also declared before the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that the army is accelerating operational planning and readiness to deal with Iran and the military nuclear threat. Two days ago, Defense Minister Benny Gantz headed to Washington to hold meetings with senior US military leaders to discuss possible courses of action in order to stop Tehran's attempts to reach the nuclear arena and expand its activities in the region. The Israeli army recently confirmed that it will conduct large-scale exercises over the Mediterranean with the participation of dozens of aircraft in a simulated strike against the Iranian nuclear program.

According to Israeli media reports, the exercises will be one of the largest ever conducted by the Air Force and will feature dozens of aircraft, including F-15, F-35 and F-16, Gulfstream G550 spy planes and refueling planes.

The planes will conduct the exercises at great distances over the Mediterranean to simulate the distance - more than 1,000 kilometers the plane would need to travel in a strike against Iran's nuclear facilities.
Tel Aviv expects the talks to fail and to restore the nuclear agreement, thus restricting Iranian activity. The United States also warns against giving in to what Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett called "nuclear blackmail" by Tehran, and that the nuclear talks must be halted and the military option discussed.

It is known that the military option is on the Israeli table, even if it lacks American support. But it must be emphasized that Tel Aviv is not seeking a direct confrontation with Tehran, and a crushing blow to destroy Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Rather, the military option will revolve around a war of attrition, meaning that every time the Iranians restore what was destroyed and try to move faster forward, Israel may strike Again, which is what the latter calls the campaign between wars, but it will be a war of attrition.

However, it can be said that Tel Aviv may consider it better to speed up the completion of the nuclear agreement to stop the rapid progress in Iran's nuclear activities, which will make it obtain the knowledge to manufacture weapons, and therefore nuclear knowledge cannot be erased from the minds of the Iranians even if there is a comprehensive agreement And stronger, according to Biden's old perceptions. This is because the agreement would halt, at least temporarily, Tehran's rush to nuclear capability at this point in time, halt enrichment at high levels of purity and stop acquiring the knowledge that would allow a rapid nuclear breakout. On the other hand, this agreement will allow the Israeli army to buy time to complete its preparations to form a good and reliable military option that can address the Iranian nuclear plan.

The US Congress passes a law blocking Iran's marches

57 Arabic and international 12/11/2021 15:57 Baghdad today -

Baghdad The US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee has passed a law requiring the halt of Iranian marches. Committee chair Gregory Meeks said Iran and its allied militias had been increasingly aggressive with drone attacks in recent months. "The militias allied with Tehran are targeting US forces, merchant ships, and our partners," he added. He stressed that Congress will not tolerate the attacks of these militias, stressing that the administration of President Joe Biden is dealing seriously with the matter. For his part, the committee's senior Republican, Michael McCaul, said that "the spread of Iranian marches is a continuing threat to us and our allies in the Middle East," stressing that "the attacks launched by Iran and its militias, including the Houthi militia, are intolerable." It is noteworthy that a group of Republican and Democratic representatives in the US House of Representatives presented a bill on December 1 to stop the activities of Iranian drones. The draft stipulated the punishment of any form of cooperation with Iran in the field of drone activities. He also clarified that US sanctions on Iran's conventional arms program under CAATSA also include the supply, sale, or transfer of combat drones to or from Iran. He also stressed the need to prevent Tehran and its allied militias from acquiring a drone that could be used in attacks against the United States or its partners.

Washington, DC - Today, Representative Gregory W. Meeks, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement regarding the passage of the “Stop Iranian Drones Act” (SIDA), a bipartisan bill to address the growing threat of Iran’s lethal unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) program, out of Committee:

“As we have seen in recent months, Iran and Iran-aligned terrorist and militia groups have been growing increasingly aggressive with their drone attacks in the Middle East – targeting US troops, commercial vessels, partner countries and more. Such activity will not be tolerated by the U.S. Congress and is actively being addressed by the Biden Administration. Our bill clarifies that existing conventional weapons sanctions against Iran include unmanned combat aerial vehicles and brings U.S. code up to date with the UN’s categories of major conventional arms. By doing so, this legislation will allow us to better respond to the threat posed by Iran and its proxies’ aggressive UAV tactics to the U.S. and our partners. This clarification makes clear to the international community that it is in everyone’s interest to work to stop Iranian UAV procurement and production.”

Baghdad/National News Center

Tasnim news agency reported that Iran took a voluntary step to resolve the misunderstanding with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and allowed it to re-install the cameras at the Karaj nuclear facility.

According to “Tasnim”, “after completing the main part of the judicial and security investigations at the Karaj facility, and in view of the agency’s step in condemning the sabotage of the Tissa complex in Karaj, and the agency’s acceptance that the cameras be technically examined by Iranian experts before installing them in the facility, Tehran voluntarily allowed Replacing the cameras that were damaged in the Karaj facility with new cameras.”

While the law of the House of Representatives stipulates that “the images recorded by these new cameras will not be submitted to the International Agency, as was previously approved, and the memory cards will remain in the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.”

Hossein Amir Abdollahian said: "Last night we reached a good agreement (for whom - Iran?) with the International Atomic Energy Agency that will address "some" of the alleged concerns about Iran's peaceful ??? nuclear program and help continue and enhance cooperation with the agency."  Amir Abdullahian added: "We are optimistic about making progress in this round of talks if the other side acts realistically."  That means all the other countries who are a party to the agreement - "reasonable" means go along with Irans demands.

Allowed the IAEA to re-install the cameras at the Karaj nuclear facility  - " Replacing the cameras that were damaged (I wonder how they were damaged)  in the Karaj facility with new cameras.” However, “the images recorded by these new cameras will not be submitted to the International Agency, as was previously approved, and the memory cards will remain in the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.” So there really is NO TRANSPARENCY.  This is Iran's "Good Agreement" if the other nations are REASONABLE...!

This all sounds like the same old BS from Iran - Here's our solution - take it or leave it. If you don't take it you're being unreasonable. They want to control the narrative & conditions. JMHO..! :salute:RON

Iranian state television reported that the Revolutionary Guards launched ballistic and cruise missiles on Tuesday during war games in the Gulf, amid escalating tension with the United States and Israel over possible Israeli plans to target nuclear sites in Iran.

"The use of ballistic missiles by the Revolutionary Guards' naval forces represents a new concept... They hit their targets with 100 percent accuracy," Revolutionary Guards commander General Hossein Salami told television.

Iran says its ballistic missiles have a range of 2,000 km and are capable of reaching Israel and US bases in the region.

On Monday, Iran warned of a "crushing" response to any move aimed at it by Israel, which opposes efforts by world powers to revive the 2015 nuclear deal and has long threatened military action if diplomacy fails to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear bomb. Iran says the goals of its nuclear program are peaceful.

It is widely believed that Israel is the only country in the Middle East that possesses a nuclear arsenal.

Iranian media indicated that the exercises also included launching five cruise missiles at the same time and drones loaded with weapons, each of which can hit two targets. The five-day training began on Monday.
