here's another article related to the above...Al Sadr blames the US over impasse to get a government elected & for the demonstrations in the Green Zone...

Wednesday Evening Iraq Parliament News Highlights 8-24-22

ARTICLE:  How Does The United States View Muqtada Al-Sadr?

BAGHDAD/Obebe: Two days after protesters stormed the Iraqi parliament in July, a group called "The Companions of the Cave" released a statement reflecting the political collapse in Iraq.

On August 1, the group said that "the US embassy, the British embassy & other NATO countries" had provoked unrest among Iraq's Shiites, & "all their embassies and bases will be targeted" in return.

The issued statement shed light on many factors influencing Iraq, where the country's main Shiite blocs are locked in a bitter power struggle after the collapse of 10 months of talks aimed at forming a government.

The confrontation is between the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr, who emerged as the biggest winner in the October Iraqi elections, against a coalition of Shiite parties.

The crisis escalated in June after al-Sadr withdrew the parliament's bloc of representatives & asked his supporters to storm Iraq's Green Zone, the country's isolated center of power.

For more than two weeks, thousands of Sadrists have camped outside parliament as their mercurial leader calls for an overhaul of the country's political system, new elections and possibly a new constitution.

Far from demonstrating Washington's ability to lead events in Iraq, analysts and former US officials say, the current crisis signals a waning US power and interest in the country.

Pretty hilarious stuff...I've been over there and been in this investment since March '04 & have read more news from dozens & dozens of news sources spanning nearly 20 years.

We've all seen the MANY players from the global stage, foreign countries as well as the criminals inside Iraq that have created the BIGGEST FUBAR/SNAFU in modern times ( well second only the GIGANTIC MESS we find ourselves in, in the USA ).

There's enough of a guilty verdict to be shared by EVERYONE involved in the MASSIVE CATASTROPHE that is Iraq.

I have been wondering if the USA will ever get to the point of the citizens in Iraq are. Sick of the corruption of their political “leadership “. According to the Constitution, it’s up to the military to do something. Problem is, the Generals are as corrupt as those who are the problem. So says a friend.

The worsening political crisis in Iraq is heading towards new stages, after activists close to the Sadrist movement began mobilizing to close the oil export fields in the southern provinces "in protest against corruption", in a step that may be the most dangerous in the current crisis.

News platforms linked to the Sadrist movement have been promoting, since Thursday morning, the Telegram application, to close the oil stations, considering that “the oil goes to the corrupt, and that the people do not benefit from the export,” stressing that “the safety of all foreign and local oil companies operating inside the fields is guaranteed.” oil when closed.

She pointed out that "the value of Iraqi oil revenues, according to official data, amounts to about 120 billion dollars annually, but the actual number is much more than that if we take into account the illegal export and smuggling of oil to neighboring countries, and that these astronomical numbers are sufficient to build a continent."

The platforms also confirmed, “The (Petranus) field or the Al-Gharraf oil field (north of Nasiriyah) between the Shukr Qalaat and Al-Rifai district produces 200,000 barrels per day, and that the leader of the Dawa Party, Kata Najiman (Abu Mujahid) dominates it,” noting that “ Closing production fields will stop 83 percent of oil exports.”

Activists published the names of many fields, stressing that they will be closed, and they are in the governorates of Basra, Maysan, Nasiriyah, including the Abu Zarqan field, the Abu Gharb field in Maysan, the Rumaila fields in Basra, the Zubair field, the Qurna field, the Western Qurna field, and the giant Majnoon field in the governorate. Basra, Giant Nahr Ibn Omar Field, Halfaya Field, Giant Nasiriyah Field in Dhi Qar Governorate, Al-Gharraf Field in Dhi Qar, Sinbad Field, West Al-Kifl Field, Al-Sabbah Field, Dujaila Field, Jabal Fawki Field, Nasiriyah Fields: Heath Field, Bazerkan Fields , Fakka field (Maysan) and others.
